Please read the following statement from Coventry City Football Club after SISU served legal papers today...
Coventry City Football Club are fully aware that our owners SISU have served legal papers today.

The club would just like to reassure supporters that the management and aims of the football club remain the same.

Today’s action does not change our short, medium and long-term aims, and does not impact the financial resources available to manager Steven Pressley to spend on the pitch during the January transfer window.

Can somebody explain this to me please? What does it all mean. I've had 6 pints.

Do they normally make such a clear distinction between the club and the owners, maybe it's just the way this statement reads.

Basically this is separate to the appeal of the JR. This is taking Higgs and the council to court over its 50% share sale to wasps.

Is this so they can bring in new evidence, I believe they can't do that in the JR appeal. If so I wonder if they actually have any or are just hoping something will show up.

They say It Is In support of the appeal ,almost like they don't expect to succeed with this one but that they're employing It to Influence the

Appeal Decision when It Is made which apparently will be some time In the new year .

I think it's as osb says its just for sisu and getting some sort of return. Ccfc is being used to get what it wants. It's not for our clubs best interests.

Wasps just get on with business, while SISU just go back to court.

This is why the former are putting up signs outside the Arena, and moving ours out of the way.

I would say the wasps sale hugely destroys the appeal. Remember the decision for the council to take over the loan meant no sporting institution or franchise could buy ACL. (Key part of the JR)

I am sure someone from the club said they are doing it for us fans?

Just like the last 7 years. I'm sorry we are totally fucked and league 2 beckons. Ccfc is dying due to these morons. I hate sisu so much and all parties can go and fuck themselves.

why don't sisu just accept they are not wanted here, go now, you bunch of bullshitting losers

I will not be renewing my season ticket next year

I made a mistake and should have gone NOPM

How to it do right, the contrast is amazing

This seems it's just a natural move by sisu to protect the appeal so I don't think its a bad as we all thin it is but what's gone on before we all hate sisu and when more legal proceedings occur then we assume the worst but I think this is just a natural process of which sisu have to do but will ultimately achieve nothing.

A bit like going through the motions. That's all

Ccc is being used to get what it wants. And not for its citizens best interests

Suggest you exercise your democratic right to vote them out next time round. The citizens will be right with you, if they think their best interests are not being served.

We can only hope!

Ignore the football team ( and of course the rugby team ) what has this Council done to benefit the City in its tenure?

When you say this council what exactly do you mean? The council i.e. the 54 members, changes all the time. The last being just 7 months ago. Do you mean the cabinet? Again that changes every year as well.

I'm sure your not expecting a long list of achievements of the last 7 months are you? No organisation could give you that.

CCC has been around since 1345, so its recent history includes salvaging a city from the single most intense bombing ever on British soil, rebuilding a city that to the outside world was finished.

They also gave us an internationally known grade 1 listed Cathedral, and two of the country's top universities.

Nope. No new evidence. They can only appeal against the mechanics of the legal process

Crikey, I am still trying to get my head around this one.

In Normative Ethics we have something called Utilitarianism. Going to use the most basic form here but Utility basically states;

"..that the proper course of action is the one that maximizes Utility, usually defined as maximizing total benefit and reducing suffering or the negatives."

To have a football and rugby club playing in one stadium instead of just one football club fits this criteria, that it is the proper course of action to be taken, because it is maximising the enjoyment of people living in the local society.

However, from my understanding of the Telegragh article it says, "...had a seriously damaging effect on the club."

To give you good people a working anology of the problem of Utilitarianism, imagine a society of two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner. Utility states that it would be okay for the wolves in the society to eat the sheep because there are more wolves in the society then sheep. This is obviously okay for the wolves but could lead to a problem for the sheep.

So we have some safeguards in society that are built in to protect rights and these are with the European Court of Human Rights which protects the individual rights against the state and stops Utility from undermining the well being of a society. A well known case for this was Marper and the DNA Database where Utility went crazy under the last Labour Government.

From what I am reading here, and of course I could be wrong, but are SISU asking for the same Human Rights that protects the Individual from society to now protect Business's as well.

I do not understand the argument from SISU here. The council (however useless they are) have followed the rules of Utility. There are no protections for business's like there are for the individual.

The argument is a non-starter.
