Wasps have played in various places in London from 1866 until 1923 when they moved to Sudbury in London and stayed there until 1996 when they moved to Loftus Road before moving to Wycombe, which is approx 20 miles from London. They've now moved to the Ricoh which is over 90 miles from what Wasps fans would consider their home.

You are equating that move to us moving approx 3 miles over the city boundary. They aren't even remotely the same.

The criticism here about wasps is because they are coming to a different town. Yes it's 90 miles. But the criticism would be there if wasps had moved 4 miles. The hypocrisy is that when it suits, I.e. when CCFC move into someone else's town it is ok, but when anyone comes to Coventry - Wasps, Blaze - it is " just wrong ".

Having had a look at the wasps forum it seems that the mexican wave did not go down well nor the language from "football type supporters".
All i can say is what were they expecting to get ?

So the whole crowd doing it did not go down well
I think a few stuffed shirts in the main stand were reluctant but a little booing as it staggered through got them in the mood the next time round.
Never heard any football language in my immediate surround.

I got the impression from comments on their forum that we had crashed their party. However I think a full Ricoh is a fantastic stadium and I felt envious.
Do I want to be part of it, maybe, but I don't really like the matter of fact attitude. Rugby fans seem a little reserved on excitement.

Are you for real? When was our move ever ok?!?!

edit - sorry thought you were talking about Northampton. However you are still trying to compare something which is incomparable.

Nothing will beat the atmosphere of the gillingham game return and the last 10 mins of the PNE game.

Agree.
Must admit I had tears in my eyes as they came out to the loudest noise I had ever heard since Led Zeppelin were at the Locarno.
CCFC is where my passion is but Sisu are doing a great job of killing it.

However, for very little cost Wasps created a great atmosphere as they came out the tunnel.
The wasp buzz blasting from all the speakers was excellent and gave a feeling of expectation.
Just the little touches makes the difference.

If Wasps had been playing for over 100 years in Nuneaton but were in a similar situation to us, had sold their old ground for some reason and ended up with nowhere to play so had been playing in Northampton for the last 10 years (similar distance they moved away initially) and purchased the Ricoh as they'd been turned down trying to build a new stadium in Nuneaton and it was as close as they could get that would be a vastly different situation to moving a traditionally London based club to Coventry.

What damn right do you have to start calling people morons? Some people would have taken kids who wanted to see England international heroes. And you've got the right to judge and name call?

Very ironic.....

Oh get a grip MMM. The 'hero' Coventry kid Andy Goode, who loves his city so much he's never played for the club which bears its name and has made his name at nearby Leicester instead. Wasps are not hoping that these kids stay neutrals, you and I both know that.

But you live in Scotland, do you never go to any local games to get a fix of football?

Yes I do. Dunfermline, Dundee, Dundee Utd, Hibs...all clubs which have been based in their respective areas since their foundation. If Celtic relocated to Dundee, though, you wouldn't find me there waving a green and white flag.

Did not want to come on here and mention the W word but had to comment on today, firstly there were lots of Cov Rugby fans and proudly showing there colours and shirts. As an ex player myself it was great to see so many junior Rugby clubs represented at the games wearing club badges and colours. Met some great olds friends, many who had never been to the Ricoh but all said they would be back ( including the Coventry Rugby lads). As far as they are all concerned it's a massive get together of people who like to watch a game on a Sunday, never going to interfere with there Saturday's.

Also worth noting there were a lot of Coventry City fans present and I wager most will be back again as some point.

Do any of us care where they came from?

Steve your hypocrisy here is bordering on comical. You opposed CCFC playing in Northampton with so much energy and then you sit there and defend a club which relocated even further and is not going back? MK Dons fans don't care where their club came from either.

Seing pictures online of the Jimmy Hill statue being plasterd in wasps scarves flags etc, very disrespectful to cov fans and the man himself no need for that

Reminds me of the time I stuck a city scarf on statue of Bill Shankley outside Anfield id had a few mind you nearly wish I hadn't never run so fast in all my life from a load of scousers who would have killed me,

Played for Barker Butts then moved to Worcester I believe.
As a Professional Rugby player he would not play for Coventry as they are not a professional Club as of yet.

Mustn't love his city that much then eh?

tbf (and I'm with you on the whole Wasps interloping thing) bit harsh to expect a pro sportsman to hang around being paid peanuts.

Wouldn't expect it of Wilson and co, wouldn't expect it in Rugby either. At the end of the day, the man's got to eat.

I am being a bit facetious on this of course, but you would expect someone who loves Coventry so much to have spent at least a bit of his time representing it at his trade. Also the 'childhood dream' stuff when the Ricoh was built in 2005?

The person who put the scarf there probably does not even know who Jimmy Hill is, so it's probably more ignorance than disrespect. What famous Wasps manager of the past does the average CCFC fan know?

There is no way on this planet you can disagree with our move to Northampton yet be fine with the wasps move. The hypocrisy is unreal.

For some reason they are too thick to realise. Even the sky blue trust are joining in. Their leaders are not fit for purpose and seem to care more about getting their egos stroked and doffing their caps.

Nowhere did he say it was his childhood dream to play at the Ricoh unless you can prove me wrong and I will accept that of course

Fucking disrespectful arseholes.

One of many posts having a go at the Wasps supporters. None of the move to the Ricoh is their fault. How many think that they are happy that they have to travel nearly 100 miles each way each game? They are as much at fault as we were when we got moved to Northampton.

So they are now a bunch of cunts and wankers because someone put a flag on the JH statue? If that is the case I expect those saying so to admit that they are a c**t or a wanker each time a so called CCFC supporter does something wrong.

Only 8% there were wasps fans - so you think they've never watched match of the day ?

What did they he was - an ex wasps player from the. 60's?

What depths will you descend to defend this?

The person who put that flag in Jimmy Hill's hand had a Cov City hat and scarf on as witnessed by my son-in-law.

Are you saying only 8% there yesterday were Wasp fans that would be spectacularly wrong. Most I spoke to in the Casino were here for the first time, had the regalia on and seemed as ferverent as any city fan, in the ground I had Brummies next to me, some from Wolverhampton in front complete with their Wolves jackets in fact it was they who started the Mexican wave off. I would say a large majority there yesterday were not "pinched" from the Sky Blue fan base.

Nick Eastwood said on Cwr on Friday that of the 27,000 tickets sold 92% were from people with a CV postcode.
