F**k Off Pressley (12 Viewers)

Can't take it

He needs to go and here's why:

Tactics are woeful. Distance between midfield and Madine is crazy, mainly because both of the central midfielders are just in front of the defence and the tempo is so slow.

Nobody really understands his 'Coventry way', I think he tries to keep it to 0-0 until 70 minutes, then tries to use our "superior fitness" to try grab a goal. Only problem is that we rarely hold out.

Keeps changing his mind. 5-3-2, 4-4-2, 4-5-1, don't think any will work with such a weak midfield.

Movements in the transfer window have been mind boggling. Signs 6 strikers and plays 1 up top, while not addressing central midfield, which was clearly a problem.

Outwards, let our only midfield outlet in baker go and players who play better when they leave (Clarke).

Man management. Puts players in a "bomb squad" then subsequently brings them back in when he realises his signings are just as bad, can't go down well with the players.

Record. Think that speaks for itself.

I do think there are better managers than Pressley, however look at our squad.... Our players are the worst ive ever seen at Coventry city. They are clueless league 2 players, how can any manager get results if the players arnt up to scratch?

My head thinks we will go down and my heart obviously wants us to stay up. Chesterfield will be another loss on Sunday im afraid. Im putting money on us to lose again!

I will not be wasting my money at all going to games until something drastic happens

Elsewhere but every admiration & sympathy who travelled, however just one game.

Previously 6 unbeaten without every playing great, grinding out results.

The key is still consistency and stringing together a good run of consecutive wins!

Will we do that? Who knows but just important to stick with the manager and his long-term plan and vision.

The man doesn't have a set philosophy of how he wants to play the game, let alone a long-term plan.

I wanted him to stay but after today he has to go. I loved the passion he showed in his post match Worcester interview but where has the action been ? I've seen probsbly less effort from the team since then. The performance today was the worst I've seen . Ever. Either back ways or sideways passing every time. Players taking 5 mins to decide where to pass. Players walking around the pitch no one closing down and no subs till the game was gone. Everyone could see what we needed other than pressley. You can't always blame the players and I've been an advocate of it being players fault not managers but he doesn't have any tactical awareness and his man management must be terrible of the players refuse to work on the pitch. The players look like they don't know there roles and thatS because of sheer confusion. Yeah there's nobody that could probsbly do better but I'd rather take a risk I mean we can't get any worse can we.

Pressley once said "we went down with a whimper and that can never be said about a Steven pressley team" unfortunately we didn't even whimper today we just went down and it's fast becoming a trait of a Steven pressley team

I went today and maybe I'm being overly negative becayse of the shite drive home but I'm utterly degected tonight. Anybody agree with that assessment ?

Nobody could do better? Think you would be closer if you said that nobody could do worse. The squad is his. So are the tactics. Last season he had players that were sold for about 5m. And this was in Division 3. These players kept him afloat. They were making their own goals. Shit tactics and management didn't stop them from scoring. The defence was all his work though.

And who chose the players in our squad? Are they as bad as the system he wants to play makes them look like? Did he just bring players in without thinking where they would play?

From what we have heard our players budget isn't bad for this division. Enough for a decent manager to get us near the top of the table. We should be doing much better. We should be getting shots on target. We shouldn't be getting outplayed by a non league team with part time players. Or should we start on the subs that he has made?

I think that even with a budget it would be hard to attract anyone with some ability to get us promoted. Our club is now well known for being an utter joke. The only thing players look at Coventry for is a stepping stone to go to higher clubs. Our owners have no ambition to get us promoted nor do the players. Put it this way If football was my career and I had several league 1 clubs interested I would not be going to Coventry City.

Anyone that took on the job at our club would be given the chance to prove themself. And they know that if they turned things around that clubs higher up would look at them. We would be used as a stepping stone. If and when the job comes up we would have lots of applicants. There are a lot of jobless managers that want to get back into the game. There are a lot of jobless managers that want to earn money. There is a lot of jobless managers that are better than SP.

It is over 20 years since I was last jobless. I had just moved area. After two days I got a job as a binman. It wasn't what I wanted but it was a job. I left just after a week as I got a better job. And for the next couple of years I kept changing jobs for something better until I got one I wanted. I didn't ever think that I wouldn't work somewhere as I didn't like the job or the bosses. It was all about working and more money. And I also had the only time where I didn't get the job after an interview during this time. When I asked why I got told that I was over qualified and they were looking for someone long term and not until they got something better. What football club would turn down a manager for this? But there would be a few that would be aiming for better things and have the ability to do so.

The squad is nowhere near a relegation squad, Pressley is just making them look like it at the moment. A decent manager would oversee a steady climb into the top half, probably not play offs as Pressley has already fucked out season up.

Hopefully he is sacked sooner rather than later and not given the chance to blow our budget again in January.

SP has to take responsibility for team performance and team selection,, if he is responsible for recruitment then i would completely agree with your view.. But the fact is he didn't want to lose the players that left last season and i'm not sure he would of pick half the players that came through the door... He would of had a list of players available, affordable and those keen on signing on the contract terms offered... Everyone at this club has to be held accountable for what is being put onto the field,, to Maddison a 17 year old 1st year pro to the International CB in Webster!!! this club needs a change from top to bottom........You change anything other than the controlling factor, nothing will alter the direction the club is heading. It isn't rocket science to be honest,, SW needs the sack,, TF needs the sack,, JS needs to sell and SP has to go on current results... The snakes head is not SP!!!!!!.

SP is deluded he said we dominated possession well according to the stats we had 48% and no shots on target. He can't defend that comment.

Speaking of steady climb, look at Scunthorpe since Robins took over on Oct 14th at which point they were in the relegation zone.
They are now above us in the league having played 9 won 4 drawn 4 and lost 1 and they are still in the FA Cup having dispatched Forest Green & Worcester.

We did dominate possession until the two sendings off ...unfortunately all the possession was in the middle of the park being passed across the pitch or back to allsop

These players are not playing for the manager, simple as that. I believe SP has brought that on himself with pathetic public outbursts, comments and the way he conducts himself in the dressing room.. But he will not be sacked and will be allowed to add to his squad by the equally useless Steve Waggott who made him almost unsackable with this 4 year contract. We can't afford to re-stock the club shop ffs let alone pay his and his assistants contracts up. I feel we are almost up the creek without a paddle. The only way in my opinion this could change is active protest from the 7000 odd who go up, but that won't happen will it a third of them took the Sixfields debacle on the chin with hardly a wimper so unlikely to shout for the managers head.

There is no long-term plan. After 20 games, he does not even know his best team and formation. How can there be a vision when all we can sign is loanees on short-term contracts and we dispose of all our best players every season.

Simply because he knows how to organise and structure a team, two simple things that our manager cannot comprehend.

Misled you are 4 year contract to see out the break even years whilst sisu pick up £3.5 million management fees every year. Why do not some actually get it sisu are not interested in CCFC as long as it don,t cost them anything, Nice earner for sisu
The vast majority of supporters, and posters on here don't realise the point you are making is true. Why would they "Get rid" when they have a nice "Little earner" that costs them nothing. Well pointed out Cloughie mate ;)

Is this Sisu's game plan, they have awarded SP a 4 year contract, they are fully aware of how shit he is, so have lumped on us at the bookies to go down (joke), then will renegotiate a better rent deal with wasps when we do go down, use the fact we are in the bottom league to sell more players and take the wage bill down again ( isn't this what hedge funds do?) strip all assets until there is fuck all left and then sell the remains and fuck off?

Why is Pressley an earner?

Unless the 60% isn't available because its all gone out in management fees.

I doubt it. iIRC OSB said it's mainly an accounting thing, and no actually cash had been taken out the club (as is the interest). And as we haven't seen this actual years accounts we don't know there's £3.5m fees anyway.

Waggot told us that our wage bill is about £2.7m, our turnover will be about £5m so that's about right.[
