Really surprised people see Keogh as our best rightback since the season we were relegated. I'd put Nilsson and McNamee ahead of him.

Each to their own, but for me Nilsson, prime or not, was one of the best RBs I've ever seen playing either for or against City. Keogh's a trier, but that's about it.

Spot on. I don't get this fascination with Keogh over the last 4/5 months like he is genuinely one of our best players. Tries hard but is horrifically average and will never play in a Championship chasing promotion.

Nilsson was pure class, he never gave the ball away and I can't ever remember a left winger skinning him alive. Never got the plaudits he deserved due to the unfashionable position he played and unfashionable clubs he played for.

Keogh has been our best and most consistant player since he has played, he hasnt put a foot wrong this shows as he hasnt missed a game yet and got players player last season, he would have also get fans player if it wasnt the club rigging it to try and get Marlon to stay Keogh could play in a lower premier league club ie Bolton or Stoke

Best = No. No way.
If consistent means "getting picked" than you are correct.
If consistant means "playing well on a regular basis", I can only presume you are his Mum or don't go to games.

Richard Keogh could NEVER play lower league Prem football, thats just ludicrous.

Am I the only person who see's the regular mistakes Keogh makes? However he has been better at CB than RB.

Club rigging the player of the year awards? Hilarious.

I can't help but feel you are judging Keogh through Sky Blue tinted specs. I bet you £10 billion Keogh will never play in the Prem.

Cranie is technically far better than Keogh.

I suppose its the same trap alot of Coventry City fans fell in when they thought Doyle and Morrell were any good based purely on the fact they could both run their knackers. Fans, love a trier regardless of how poor or average they are in footballing ability.

Richard Keogh has played well at centre back this season. To dispute this suggests you have 'anti Keogh specs'. No matter, football is about opinion. And I don't have £10 billion to put on a bet. Just because someone praises a player you don't rate, no need to bemoan the state of lesser footballing afficionados who 'love Michael Doyle, yada yada yada'. If you're going to patronise, try watching a match without any preconceptions and without making up childish bets. On balance, I would say Cranie is the more technically able of the two centre backs. I would say that Keogh doesn't misplace a huge amount of passes, has good pace and is a willing worker (uh oh, there's me showing a lack of class, I know) and has been a steady performer at centre back all season.

Better than Nilsson? Never.
Better than McNamee? Entirely objective, but I really liked McNamee when not injured and thought him slightly better on the ball, so I will say no.
Do I think my footballing opinion is better than anyone else?

Well, yes. If I'm honest. So cancel the previous paragraph. Each to their own, I think we all have someone within earshot who is loudly bang wrong in their opinions of players. If you don't think so, it's you.

.

Agreed that Roland was different class, but actually, Keogh could have joined a Premiership team on deadline day. And one that plays passing football at that. So he is rated in the game!

And I've just read this..well, I'm told the team will be back in January and was very persistent on deadline day. So we'll see. Just don't go making any bets that Keogh won't be a Prem player soon, unless you are very wealthy!

Sorry to be pedantic, but Nilsson's first spell here was in the 90's. He only played a few games in this league when we got relegated first as player/assistant manager to Gordon Strachan, then near the end of the 01/02 season where he was manager, he retired after a fan ran on the pitch to argue with him at Preson.

He has played for the club since 2000, so he's in IMO.

Didn't mean to divert the thread to anti-Keogh, he's OK just not in the same league as our best in the past 11 years IMO.

I'm a bit surprised that so many have selected Bellamy. He was utter tosh for us on the pitch, regardless of what he later said off the pitch. The number of gilt edged chances he missed was incredible, and he didn't seem to have recovered from his broken leg the previous season. Based on his form after he left, sure-but not whilst wearing Sky Blue IMO.

McNamee was a far better player then Keogh, but with him being injuried all the time he was no use to anybody, poor mans Alan Hutton. If anybody puts Shaw in their team they want shooting, he was dreadful and cost us goal after goal. Shaw & Williams has got to be one of the worst defences to ever play in the prem.

-----------Westwood,
Nilsson, --------, Dann, Warnock,
Thommo, Wise, Hutchinson, Froggatt?? (can't remember when he got injuried & retired, if not him then McSheffrey)
-------- Hartson, Keane

Just missing 1 centre back :D

Completely disagree Marty (but accept you opinion). Shaw for me was always reliable, and played with his heart on his shirt. Any player who plays 317 games for a club isnt too bad! Ok he wasnt a world class defender but he'd always do a job whenever he was called upon.
