Breaking: Frank Nouble has cancelled his contract at Ipswich and is available on a free transfer.

Probably still too expensive for us! He wouldn't cancel his contract unless he had something else lined up I wouldn't have thought as it would just mean he wasn't getting paid by anyone, hopefully not too long before we see an announcement that he's joined us permanently.

Usually these announcements are followed the same or next day as the one where they signed for somebody else.

I'm sure there would be a couple of struggling Championship clubs keen to take him on a deal until the end of the season. If so we would have to offer a longer deal with them to offer him a bit more security to counteract the discrepancy in wages offered. We'll see if his decent relationship with the fans weighs in at all.

great news, lets hope we are the ones in for him! no fee to pay now, just a wage package to be sorted out.

Sky sports reporting a number of Championship and League 1 clubs interested in him. Sounds like the standard line for an agent touting him out.

We won't be able to compete with the wages on offer from other clubs.....bye bye Frank....

......next.

There could still be a signing on fee. Not always straight forward. Extreme example I know but Ballack was a free transfer and Chelsea still paid 7m to him & 13m to his agent up front.

This is technically bad news... we had more chance of getting him on loan until end of season. This now means lower championship/higher league one teams may take a punt now hes got some match fitness. Shame, i just dont see him in a sky blue shirt again.

can the Waggott pull this one out of the bag? Not hopeful, the way he has played here and scored, I expect a champ club to pop with a nice little offer him.

I hope he signs for the rest of the season.
Maybe this is an agreement between SW and FN that will reduce the number of loanees?

I really hope he signs for us he can be so effective for us and has looked threat in the 4-3-3/4-5-1 formation that SP has been using in the last two games..

There were no Championship clubs wanting to take him a few months back...he's not set the world alight since being here so not sure what would change that?

Fleck and nouble signing on the same day would be a great start to the new year imo.

Ipswich mate of mine was saying that mad mick McCarthy had him up against the wall and told him he would never play for them again. Trouble in dressing room. Let him go. Use the money(hah) a bit more wisely.

I'll happily be proved wrong and see us sign him up!

Things change in a few months though, once clubs start struggling they can adapt their style of play, change of manager etc. If you were a Blackpool, Millwall or Rotherham then he might be quite an interesting proposition for 6 months on a relatively cheap deal having got some football under his belt.

i doubt he would cancel 6 months early if he didnt have concrete offer.

one would imagine we have made an offer to him, just depends if we have competition now.

he seems to have enjoyed it here so that bodes well.

If we're not signing anyone Mad Mick has fallen out with that narrows the list of potential new players down a lot!

Would be a great free transfer, I imagine someone better would get him though, will depend on how much he enjoyed his time here i guess

Mick McCarthy convinced us that parting with £1.2 million for the last player we had from him, was a good deal.

I do hope that Nouble stays..

I think that the fans would really support and encourage him.

Ha. Spending a million plus on 1 player is a pipe dream nowadays and we did it, on feastwood of all people :claping hands: What an horrific waste of money that looks now. Is he even playing now?
