Council admits Ricoh Arena was not sustainable without CCFC (14 Viewers)

Surely they would know months in advance if Coldplay were going to play though?

This wasn't just a one off statement on one day though, it was said over and over for a few months wasn't it? You could understand when CCFC were threatening to move and the council said that, but it was said after they moved, then again a few months later, then you had PWKH on here.

So you accept the stadium is not going to happen. In which case we are not going to get any more posts from you speculating about "if it happens then ....". It's not like this is the first time you've made this "tongue in cheek" comment that the stadium might be built.

At this moment in time I don't think it is going to happen, could it happen in the future? Who knows.

Must...defend...council...must...defend...council...

If this is the 'smoking gun' you've waited for; through court case, judicial review and FOI request to finally - finally - place blame at the party you've always held culpable - well, I'm glad it's made your day.

The auditors, in signing off ACL's accounts saw it as a going concern (check law), and the Judicial Review judge also saw the same going concern that Lucas did; but ignore them and enjoy your moment in the sun by all means......

MMM, you should do PR for CCC. They'd save a fortune.

Nothing to enjoy, just endure. If the Council hadn't sold to Wasps and played the waiting game then they could have negotiated with new owners after SISU had gone, as one day they will be gone. But no, they gave it to Wasps for 250 years.

and enjoy your moment in the sun by all means......

CCC: 'You're in the shite now, Fisher's gone and taken the club to Sixfields; you've got a great big hole in your business plan'
ACL: 'We've had Coldplay here, Muse have just played and Bruce Springsteen booked for next summer. We're talking to acts XYZ, and we're confident one of those will drop to cover lost income from the football club. Springsteen has sold 37K tickets, for example.'
CCC: 'So, you're confident you can cover off lost incomes and be revenue positive'
ACL: 'Yes'

Problem with that theory is by the time we moved out they would already know what shows were and weren't booked. We're working on summer 2016 and 2017 now, it doesn't just all get thrown together at the last minute. And besides that the concerts bring in far far less for ACL than you seem to think they do. They'd need somewhere there every weekend over the summer to make up what they would lose by us moving out!

Is Lucas not the custodian (at the minute, being the leader and of the freehold) of the football ground our club plays in? Also quite an important figure if it comes to our club building a new stadium within the city?

Ignore my point totally. No surprise there though as a called SISU (The clubs owners incase you forgot) to question on a CCFC forum. The cheek off it.

I haven't ignored the point have I? Who has said anything about questioning SISU on a CCFC forum? It is when other people do the same (in this case, lied) and it is justified. Hence I said in reply does it make it ok for SISU to do it?

It is as bad as that protest group who get people to join the protest about sisu bullshitting, by bullshitting themselves. Because people hate SISU so much, they don't even see that.

People need to make their minds up, is it wrong all of the time or is it just wrong if SISU do it? Is it ok to move teams? Is it ok to lie to city fans?

Surprise surprise.

Even now there are those on here still defending the council despite admitting that they lied. Why do these people have such affinity to a council?

Just like the Thorn debacle, the minority have once again been proven to be correct.

Both the council and Sisu are only in it for themselves, anyone else is irrelevant...

We have all been taken for one big ride and it's not over by a long way..

The Wasps thing won't last. Coventry has never been a rugger city and I don't think it will be long before crowds are down to around 7000 (excluding freebies). And there is little money to be made these days from conferences and concerts. I reckon Wasps will have major financial problems within the next 5 years. They won't be here for 250 years IMHO. Basically the Ricoh now has two sporting clubs that are both financially unviable. Their joint losses could probably be reduced thru a merger but I don't think the combined entity could run at a profit which means that a merger is unlikely.

I think our only chance of sporting success is to get some benefactor who is willing to burn money, like the owner of Leicester. No sane person would ever invest in a football club in order to turn a profit.

is this not standard business practice to fudge the figures? aparantly CCFC is debt free aswell???

i think all parties are c-units and have not give two craps about the clubs future or the fans, it got personal and the council were never going to sell to SISU and SISU were never going to give the ground to the club if they brought it so at the end of the day CCFC was never going to win no matter what side of the fence you are stood on

Just wondering how our super smart hard nosed owners have managed to get done over by a socialist councillor. Is there anything they are good at?

Maybe a Sting in the Tale yet! I can't believe Ann Lucas and CCC could ever lie, especially as most on here have continually defended them but blamed the owners for everything!
Personally I'm still laughing.

Yet more clambering to excuse the council. Do you honestly believe that sisu wouldn't have bought the Ricoh had it been offered to them at the same price wasps paid?

A question mark on the end of a sentence means its a question dumb ass. So how is it clambering for anything when all I'm doing is asking you how the statement you clambered to is right.

i agree. It looks like the council have played a blinder, stuffing up two hedge funds at the same time. And to think that all the right wing mongs on were predicting that SISU would run rings around the council because hedge funds are supposed experts while councils are stupid. I guess it goes to show that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover.

Point of order. It is possible to criticise the executive actions of a Council without being a"right wing mong" or playing class politics.

In fact your use of that word shows you up to be a pretty ignorant person. Bet Ann is over the moon at having allies like you.

Devil's advocate -

Was £5.54million for a company which had just lost £400k "on the cheap"? Also worth noting, the council still retains the freehold.

I'm not saying it was right or wrong to sell to Wasps by the way. There are clearly many arguments for and against.

It wouldn't have been a good deal without ccfc getting back paying rent and bringing in punters. With ccfc back ACL are close to cash flow neutral - then add the revenues and sponsor deals Wasps bring in themselves.

So the question still not answered: Was ccfc brought back to secure the deal with Wasps?
It looks plausible.

Don't think there is anyone serious on here who doesn't think SISU are bloody awful owners.

What is amazing, is there are still a few clinging to the wreckage and openly defending the Council on this sorry saga.

I mentioned whilst we was at the cowshed, that the council were going to fuck us over and we needed to take a mass demonstration to them regarding the Ricoh Arena, we only returned by the looks of it because ACL were LOSING money and Lucas has finally admitted they were.

Unfortunately many just said oh be quiet and continued to lick the councils arse.

Then what happens, ah they royally fuck the club over because they did not want to do any business with SISU even when SISU at the 11th Hour mind you came begging and offered more.

HA HA HA Mass demonstration we had one all 4 of us turned up to the Wasps demo, Oh and when Mr strange organised one at the council house he got a dozen there Where were you at any of these ?????

People just didn't care enough they just come out with Bullshit excuses well now we are where we are.

It is easy just sitting behind a computer slagging of this side or that side but when they have to get off their arses well that is another matter.

Sorry but we are really are pretty sorry bunch of supporters.

Sorry, but whenever anybody mentions the supporters you jump on them with the "Oh aren't CCFC fans shit". So we are sorry that we don't go to a protest arranged before a game (but then changes that morning to the daytime) but if you say anything about people not going to a city game, god help you.

Oh and you don't another??? Your another hypocrite who comes on here bleating with the likes of torch etc but sits there and did nothing. Funny how you like to slag off the likes of the Trust but did nothing but cry on here.

Sorry but the ones who tried weren't good enough got slagged off for timing place etc but at least they tried....
Sorry Nick but you know it is true over to you now I'm sure you and your allies can do a better job.

Nick that was one protest what about the other 2 protests at the council house where were you all then?

Well at least you admit SISU were never going to buy it. It's just a shame you won't question why SISU wouldn't. Apparently it was a steal.

I just wish the posters on here who are up in arms about this showed the same passion about the FOI results, the move to Northampton etc. Basically the real reasons for the decline of our fan base and club.

You say "slagged off", is slagging off is "the time has changed with short notice and I am work" is slagging off then christ.

So as a Trust member you aren't allowed any input?

Talking of Hypocrites, how are your friends at the Trust? Still waving their wasps flags? Any more free tickets changed hands for the Wasps games (after leading trust people were on here going mental about freebies in Northampton and questioning things)? I may have "sat and did nothing" but I wasn't getting my face in the paper showing my anger at teams being moved and fixing football while asking for other fans to help us and then going to watch Wasps (who had been moved) and saying that I don't give a shit about their fans. I'd have a look closer to home if I were you.

You are on here having a go at city fans and saying they are sorry fans because they didnt go to a protest re arranged at short notice (that not many knew had been changed anyway) but if somebody says something about people making excuses about ticket prices or saying they will only go if we are top 6 then you are straight in there.

Yep. Going by this thread it's amazing that you and BHSB were so lonely outside the council house as they were going into their meeting to approve the ACL takeover.

Still AL lied and that's all that counts.
