Didn't he suddenly decide to change tactics after watching the world cup? He is ridiculous, he seems to think of himself as a football intellectual and clearly has ideas very much above his station. If he remains in charge for the rest of the season he will take us down.

What is this rubbish about the 'coventry way'? What is it? Does anyone actually know?

The "Coventry Way" is shit , dross, pile of crap , bunch of arse , etc. etc. etc

Thought you would get it by now:)

The 'coventry way' would be good if there was one. Same with West Ham. In Alex Fergusons book he says over his whole career he never understood what the West Ham way was.

Yes he did and what's worse is he'd already signed players for his old system before he had his little head storm. Unforgivable and unprofessional.

100% he should be sacked. no plan b when things are going wrong makes subs way to late to change the game. Plays boring denfensive tactatics at home. Lost players in dressing room, the players don't listen to instructions , this whole affair is getting boring now and i'm very fed up of coventry city. Me, my bro and friend are not renewing our season tickets, not while sisu, pressley are in charge. I can't even give my ticket away when I don't go to matches. I rather spend my £315 on holiday.
Been there, done that mate. 6 fabulous weeks in America, and came back a different man. :)

Laughable.

It seems that Alex Ferguson has a dismal record of recommending managers.

Pressley seems to organize the setup at the club to the satisfaction of club management. He's on a long contract and it will not be cheap to pay him off. His weaknesses seem to be player management, team selection and tactics.

So my suggestion would be to 'promote' him to football director and draft in a manager for the first team.
If Pressley is unhappy not being involved at match days then he could resign. Wouldn't cost the club any compensation.

no options needed other than yes or no
please everybody that reads PLEASE VOTE as we can get a proper poll with decent numbers be nice to get over 2-300 votes
if we get good numbers voting il hand it over to the telegraph or simon see if they will publish fans feelings

Still feel the team is hampered because of SP's stubbornness in pursuing this inept 4:5:1 formation - it can only work with very mobile and incisive midfielders where we clearly have none.

The body language of the team reinforces their dislike particularly Gary Madine operating for long periods in splendid isolation taking on four defenders with no one available to take on knock downs and layoffs etc.

The team has the resource and capability to play 4:4:2 being a much safer and productive option methinks.

So why not SP ??

I've said before he might be better in that sort of director of football/head of youth role, maybe let him focus on restructuring the academy and making the transition from academy to first team easier, and sorting out the infrastructure of the club on the playing side in terms of setting up the scouting network, coaching set up from junior level to first team etc.

I doubt Pressley would like it though and if he felt forced out or forced to resign could he have a case for constructive dismissal?

Another solution could be for the club to fork out on appointing a reputable, respected and experienced assistant manager who might teach Pressley to not be an awful manager.

Apart from that though, he's doing a grand job!

His weaknesses seem to be player management, team selection and tactics.

Are we still working on the "9 out,7 in" scheme of our saviour, or has the plan changed???? I seem to have lost track of where we are at ( just like SP really)

Does that mean the "minority" who have been saying Pressley was clueless for quite a while has now become a "majority". I still remember the outrage when he was going to Huddersfield and how great it was he had a 4 year contract. How things change.

He needs to go before it is too late, like with the hero Thorn. It is all well and good saying he needs time, if he needs to learn then he should be managing reserves!

i think you only have to see what the players he deemed not good enough are doing to see he has to go

Exactly.

Let's have a recap yesterday in League One.

Billy Daniels - let's go mid-week, comes on as a sub for Notts County, scores on his debut within three minutes of being on the pitch.
Blair Adams - flourishing as a left back for Notts County, has played well since we let him go and provides the assist with a pinpoint cross for Daniels goal above.
Carl Baker - Scores the only goal that provides the three points for MK Dons and has regularly contributed to the teams position in the league this season.
Cody McDonald - Has frequently scored since we let him go and despite Gillingham's poor form this season, still has scored 10 goals including a penalty against us.

You don't have to rewind too far back to see other players that we let go because of <insert stupid reason here>:-

Jordan Clarke - Loaned out to Yeovil, pushes forward frequently, scores 3 goals in first 7 appearances (all competitions). And this is for Yeovil, rooted bottom of the league!
Callum Wilson - No recap required! He's made the right move and will likely be playing Premiership football next season.

The clowns at CCFC are fucking muppets. We continually let players go because they are apparently surplus to requirements who then go onto perform at their new clubs almost instantly. We must be the laughing stock of the bloody league. Our useless management haven't a clue how to get the best out of players. Even those that have performed for us, we get rid. Those that haven't performed for us, we get rid. All replaced with players that haven't done a huge amount for many seasons (maybe bar a few exceptions) and all fall way short of replacements for the players that we're letting go... It is just a catalogue of major errors and poor judgement.

The same will happen for Maddison, Haynes should they decide to leave for a similar level club, they will kick arse at their new clubs. This whole club is fucked and SP should piss off so that we can get someone else in that has any idea how to manage players potential and ability.

I bet that he can't believe that nearly 18% of us want him to stay as manager at our club.

Some of the youngsters we have now are without doubt the better players, I despair at some of the others both in attitude and performance:
Allsop and Burge.............Piss poor and ill disciplined
Martin and Webster.........Pub players !
Jackson and Tudgay............Powder puff, lazy and ineffective fecks. Tudgay only played one decent game when he thought he was getting bombed out !
Reda Johnson...............Wreckless, ill disciplined and injury prone
O'Brien...............good workrate but is no where near as good as HE thinks.
Connor Thomas.......Just awful, no confidence !
Gary Madine..........Argumentative thug with potential if played with a half decent strike partner.
Nouble...............Should be good enough at this level but often puts his head down like a bull Rhino and runs into blind alleys.

Not the makings of a good solid team really and several of these are guilty of laying into the younger lads when they make the slightest error.
Tactics = Shite
Morale = Shite
Results = Relegation

I voted that he shouldn't be sacked, merely because I can't see anyone that could come in and turn things around. The heading of the original post reads "SHOULD Pressley be sacked now?" I based my vote on that question. However, I would LOVE to see someone with some guts and better management skills come in. ;)

I voted 'No' because even though he deserves to be sacked based on his poor performance, he has a 4-year contract which should be honoured. Whoever granted him the 4-year contract should be sacked. Best solution is to appoint someone above Pressley and let him resign if he wants to.

Bit unfair to post that really. He wasn't doing a shit job then. Now he is. And amazingly, opinions change.

Wasn't he?

Last season he had his arse covered by Wilson and Clarke scoring for fun. Once he didn't have them we were in the shit. This gave us a glimpse of what was to come this season. I said pre season that we were going to have a long hard season once I saw our players. But those who love to disagree with me on here told me how wrong I was. Normal day I suppose ;)

Was I the only one who noticed last season that he didn't know how to organise a team?

So which is it then?

a) the players who are in the current squad are good enough but just not performing anywhere near their maximum potential?

b) the players that have been brought in are poor and in no way good enough replacements for those that we've let go?

Whichever option you select, where does the majority of the blame lie? Does that make you consider your vote?

===
However you look at it, we're letting players go that are good enough at this level and at CCFC, it's just useless tactics, squad selection and poor management that doesn't get the best out of them. The players that have been brought in have been poor, and are in fact not at the ability level of many that we have let go so poor scouting / activity in the transfer/loan market.

Getting those issues above right will make the team perform better and gain better results. And another manager COULD step in and do that.

So in 4 years when the club is ruined and we're playing in the conference struggling against teams like Barrow and Kidderminster, that would be acceptable would it because at least the club has honoured the managers contract...? It's possible to terminate contracts early for a reason - even if that does come at a cost.

SISU honour a contract...now there's an oxymoron if ever there was on!
