Was just on the news about how the game was ruined by crowd trouble.

It did show a couple of the police pushing people around but didn't show that fella getting strangled or thrown.

Well, it wouldn't would it. Disappointing. They've got images of it for sure, there's a Press Association photo doing the rounds.

Me and Glenn both recicved this

At least you have a civilised response. I suggest that the police will suggest that the incident was blown up by the guy spitting at them which is true. They shall conveniently forget though that they shouldn't really have been muscling in in the first place.

The sky cameraman walking up and down the side of the pitch filmed some of it but it did not get used on the live feed.

Dear Whomever It May Concern,

I'd like to write to you today on account of Saturday's incidents and to request clarification on a few matters.

Saturday saw a re-occurence of protests against the clubs owners SISU. This resulted in somes fans bringing banners bearing slogans on, these slogans were not offiensive and consisted of a basic SISU OUT motif.

I'd like to complain about stewards who were extremely over-zealous at this game and the prior fixture at home to Watford. Most fans could understand the stewards taking the banners, it was something we thought might happen, despite it being allowed at every other football league ground. What many fans were extremely disappointed with however, was the manner in which they were taken. As you are aware a large contingent of fans sit under the score board in block 15. At the Watford game, a large banner was passed down along the crowd reminiscent of the way a large shirt is passed down at big games. A large group of stewards ascended to the top of block 15 but refused to take the banner, instead, when they saw that it had reached near the bottom where an unlucky group of around 3 men were trying to fold it back up to send to the top. Unfortunately, led by a senior steward, this group ran full speed down a gangway and shell-shocked this group, seizing the banner and running out on the pitch area with it. Said senior steward, then stood at the bottom of block 15 and smiled at the fans, causing outrage.

This led to the increased tensions on Saturday the 10th of September against Derby. Again, banners of a smaller size and plainer motif were at the game and were unfurled. Again, stewards waited until the banner was in a less populated area and attempted to seize it. However, this time an unsightly tug of war ensued and the banner was reclaimed. It was then, draped across a vomitory and was left alone by stewards.

I'd like to complain that due to the stewards behaviour, the scenes we saw at the game on Saturday, were perhaps not a primary cause but were very much in the minds of fans who then had their fears compounded by heavy handed policing.

I'd like to know why fans aren't allowed to use these banners and please, please, do not recycle the line about fire safety. Friends and colleagues have contacted other football league grounds who contradict your colleagues statement on CWR regarding it being an issue that all clubs adhere to. Portsmouth FC have stated they never have removed a banner or any kind of flag as long as it's not offensive.

I'd appreciate a response and I'd like to commend you on an otherwise fantastic stadium.

Regards,

Glenn Storer.

The statement is wrong

it should not be a statement on crowd disturbances , but a statement on Police and stewards bullying and brutality

SISU are despicable. They will stop at nothing to make themselves look good. We've swallowed all their lies and spin and now that people have had enough of them they are censoring us and removing our right to protest. What are we supposed to do - sit quietly while they dismantle our squad for short-term gain and eventually get us relegated?

I've never known owners of a football club to send in stewards and police to wrestle peaceful protestors.

Nobody particularly wants a fight at the game - they just want to be left alone while they protest. This is totally SISU's fault.

100% correct, I dont understand supporters debating about banners and whether they're allowed, I mean haven't they watched a football game before?

This is all down to SISU's orders.

Totally agree. It is time that SISU and our ever growing joke of a board understood that they may own the shares of this club, but Football is not about that, it is about the club as a part of a community not its business ownership. Coventry City belongs to the City and to the fans and whatever they do that cannot and will not be changed.

If they think they can hold an investigation and point the finger at everyone bar themselves (as usual) this protest will gain momentum faster than ever before. They have lost all credibility and there is no way back from that other than getting out and soon.

Some of this does not tally up though, Sisu surely cant order the Police to pile in? So why did they do that?

As for the stewards they clearly would have some influence there.

You do have to question why this game required a police presence at all. I thought nowadays it was only when there is a rivaly between teams. It was hardly going to kick off against Derby County. Waste of money having all those police there.

Well I remember when there was rumours of a protestlast year extra police presence was attained.

I was sitting near the man who was arrested by the police ,he clearly asked the officer why isnt he identifiying his numbers as this is illegal. The officer refused to answer and try to say the man was drunk, the man was not drunk At all.
The officers bascially told him to f**k off and the other officers came over determind to nick him. They grabbed the man very forcefully, got him in a headlock and dragged him away. I heard the police say your being nicked for drunken disorder which was false as he is a regular down the wheatsheef inn,he only had 3/4 of 1 pint as i seen him personally. look i know him and he told me the charge later turned out to be threatning and abusive behavoir also he is bailed to go back in a month times. Thank you for all support him as the police where far out of order and looked to be wanting a scrap/fight and i believe i saw a policeman SPIT at him
This is what i saw

Can't say I'm surprised after some of the dealings I've had with the WMP over the years:

- Threatened to be taken in the back of a van and beaten up when 17 - copper had his hand over his number
- Aggressively accused of trashing a field I was playing football in when I was with my GF at the time. Quote from copper: "I know it was you, you piece of shit, I saw you"
- Threatened to be arrested for D&D when my friend was attacked in town and they let the assailant go and arrested my friend (who was on the floor at the time). When I calmly explained I was sober and just trying to see justice done, was told "go home before I put you in the back of the van"
- Had another friend's arm broken meaning he couldn't work for over a year after the police threw him to the ground and dragged him to a car when he was pissed and arguing with a bouncer who wouldn't let him in to get his coat back.
- Been threatened to be charged with "indecent exposure" when I was 21 and walking home from town at 3am with my shirt half unbuttoned.

Complained on many an occasion, nothing ever happened. Though I didn't have national media filming me at the time...

What i never get is if you swear at a copper you get arrested but even watching cop shows they swear at people a lot!

It's because they have to dominate situations, so go in hard and loud to scare the other person into complying.

There will always be the small minority that give the rest a bad name, but with my personal expierence of the West Midlands Police, always found them helpful and quick to respond to any problems. Not got a bad word to say against them. :pimp:

i attempted to engage in a humorous, light hearted, mild mannered conversation with an 'umpah lumpah', bad mistake, got threatened,
however had words with another steward, green jacket, who candidly admitted that the 'umpah lumpahs' were interpreting an order issued directly from sisu,
not that 'interpret' would be part of their vocabulary,
what an utter disgrace that is being brought upon OUR club,
not the feds,
not the umpahs,
NO it's the guys who give their directives,
CAUSE not EFFECT

why have our lot always got the hump, not just at the moment but generally? When you go to away games most of the time you can have a decent conversation with the stewards but you've got no chance with ours.

Spot on mate, I've had banter with the Forest stewards a few times, kept asking this young one if his Mum knew he was out.

Good point chiefdave - have nearly always been able to have a bit of good humoured banter at other grounds I have been to (except Forest). Our stewards do seem to have a mandatory humour bypass

That can't have been in the last couple of years. The games at Forest last 2 years have been ruined for me by the stewards there (also the results).

Seriously? This was last year I think on the Tuesday night game.

Bad grounds I've had for stewards, Leeeeeeeds. Oh Christ Leeds away. Thugs in Abercrombie. Standing, as you do. So, they went through the front area of the away stand telling everyone to sit, I refused as I adamantly believe away fans should stand it's just...right. :p. So, he went to lay hands on me and I just looked him in the eyes, said don't touch me just don't touch me. And off he went! I was fully expecting a kicking.

Had some banter with Birmingham actually, surprisingly. Always mess with them when they do the search, looked one lad in the eyes with a smile and told him it was my favourite part....

2 years ago was awful, loads got chucked out for standing! Completely ridiculous. Last year wasn't so bad actually, it was just a horrible night and I was FREEZING!!

Been forest 3 years running, absolutely disgusting stewarding kicking 2 men and 2 kids out for standing, he said he wasn't going to sit down and the steward grabbed him and the kid started crying, the other bloke had a go and kicked him out this was with the kids standing there watching around 5stewards taking the two adults.
Good ground, good atmosphere but worst stewarding.
