[h=1]Sky Blues support EduCaid charity helping Ebola victims in Sierra Leone[/h]Coventry City are helping children affected by Ebola in Sierra Leona.

The football club has pledged to help the charity EduCaid after a BBC news report before Christmas showed a young boy in the village of Kigbal wearing a Sky Blues shirt.
The club contacted the BBC journalist after the report was aired to find out about the little boy featured.
The child was identified as Dauda who lives in the village with his mum.
His dad had died from Ebola.
It is believed that the shirt Dauda was wearing was given as part of a scheme where fans donated old kit which would be given to a good cause.
Mark Hornby, head of marketing at Coventry City, said: “It was a very moving report and to then see a boy in a Sky Blues shirt really brought it home and, as a club, we wanted to find out the best way we could help.”
EduCaid and now Coventry City are trying to find ways to support the village and families affected by the Ebola outbreak in the area.
Mark added: “We are considering holding another ‘shirt amnesty’ but we need to ensure that the logistics are in place to have them delivered to Sierra Leone.
“We are speaking to the charity and the reporter about that.
“There are children arriving in the charity’s schools with only the clothes they stand up in, as all their possessions get burned when there is Ebola in the house.”
Until the logistics of donating shirts can arranged, Coventry City are supporting EduCaid by purchasing their charity book.
Mark said: “In the meantime, we’ve purchased 12 books – Our World, Our Eyes, Our Imagination – which captures the story of people in Sierra Leone through a photography project.
“Two of those will go on display in the community area of our superstore and the other ten will be given to club partners.”
EduCaid are supporting around 100 children, but they are hoping to increase this number.
Anyone wishing to donate can do so through the charity’s website - www.educaid.org.uk .
For £15 a month, EducAid can educate, medicate, house, feed and water a child for an entire year.

Might not seem much but better than reading about court cases and should help raise awareness for the charity and what they do as well.

Good cause but hardly headlines. This sort of stuff should be like hygiene, ie it goes on without having to tell everybody your doing it.

If I read it right the club are asking for us to donate our shirts and are currently waiting to see how they will get there before they ask for them.
In the meantime they have bought 12 books for a total of £180.

Thanks for doing that on my behalf but would the club also keep us up to date with what the plans are to keep us out of League 2?

Try not to turn this thread into the usual slanging match or shmmeee will have you banned for trolling, despite the club being on its knees and scrounging for every penny its trying to do something for a good cause. Can't we not just recognise it for what it is rather than being negative about the club? It's not just what they give but also the awareness it raises.

As CCFC says, give it a rest. I hope you remember this though next time you're telling us you're not going to renew your ST...

Like you constant flip flopping on your support for the club and constant need to bore everyone with it. Let's have at least one positive thread hey? There's a fella.

Bore off you negative old fruit.

No doubt if this was CCC/Wasps you'd be singing their praises.

My post is positive with a request for other information as well.
I think these posts are not and are bringing up other stuff that should be discussed elsewhere.

It's a good thing of course it is but seriously a business with millions in turnover donates £180 to charity is hardly praiseworthy and certainly not newsworthy especially when they are using it for marketing. That said this is very good marketing, cheap and effective and does good at the same time and thats to be applauded.

You'd be creaming yourself if it was Wasps and criticising CCFC for not doing it

Good to see that the club does get involved in such things and yes a positive news article. Should be applauded

now if they could just find some decent players to fill the shirts they have kept ................

I find it utterly amazing that you guys have managed to convince yourselves Italia is the bad guy in this thread.

He should engage his brain before posting then, instead of trying to be a clever dick, which is clearly beyond his intellectual capacity.

The criticism is more towards the Papers, not the club, who pick on little issues and blow them up into major headlines.
Just like CWR commentators they never push the club on the real football issues that fans want to concentrate on.

We have a major issue on players, particularly goalkeepers and rather than chase down whats happening on the issue they write major stories on stuff that should tick along in the background.
