Jones 4 - goal went in keepers side from the free kick so his fault in my book, seems to position himself to far off his line too

Phillips 6- did well first half and gave us only attacking threat and looked most likely to score faded as expected 2nd half

Martin 4- have away needless free kick the goal came from. Useless on the ball.

Pennington 6 - looked like only player with any sense of urgency in 2nd half.

Willis 5 waste of space at left back gives us nothing going forward.

Barton 6 did ok considering Pressley obvious tells him to sit deep all game great interception and ball through to Samuel 1st half

Fleck 7 motm assist for goal with great ball and played a few great balls to Phillips first half

O'brien 4 useless runs around like kid in a play ground leaving gaps and causing problems for his teammates

Williams 5 seemed to start ok and get worse

Samuel 5 missed sitter when played in one on one by Barton.

Tudgay 6 great finish but his legs have completly gone.

Subs Thomas 5 in midfield?!
Jackson 6
Haynes 5

Pressley 3

I will add that Fleck and Barton does not work as a central pairing, far too similar and far too passive and slow the game down time and again.

5's all round except a 6 for Barton who I thought was mom. I thought the keeper did well for most things, but knocked him down a mark for not bothering to try and save the free kick.

To be honest I'm still in shock at Flecks 7....

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - so please excuse any spelling or grammar errors :)

I assume he gets 2 for starting. 3 for an assist. Can't get the other two for 5 or more successful passes.....

Jones - 5 - keepers should never concede from a free kick on the side they are supposed to be covering. Aside from that, the few things he had to do he did well.

Phillips - 5 - seemed to play within himself for the majority of the game and consequently did not strongly influence it. I think this was mainly due to a combination of no confidence and not being fully fit. He did improve as the game went on and was fairly solid.

Martin - 4 - not great on the ball, but not sure what we can expect really, this is his level - he is an out and out League One CB. I think he is a generally good enough defender to warrant a starting place.

Pennington - 6.5 - head and shoulders above the majority of the team. Playing in a team with confidence/higher calibre players, he would be even better. Tried to make things happen, including forward penetrating runs, with and without the ball, from CB.

Willis - 3 - not a left back. Looked uncomfortable all game, was poor positionally and offered nothing going forward. Not really his fault though, I am sure he would not choose to be playing at LB.

JOB - 4 - his positioning is so so poor, leaves the defence exposed and causes the team to lose its shape. I appreciate he wants the ball and wants to influence the game, but it's a team and a tactical sport, players are assigned positions for a reason. Offset that against the fact he was the only midfielder looking to attack with the ball and run at the defence.

Barton - 5.5 - good first half, retained the ball well, put Samuels through one on one, tackled and pressed the ball well, but the let himself down with a poor second half.

Fleck - 3.5 - offers nothing, should be running this league never mind this team but consistently puts in non existent performances. No desire to want the ball anymore, something he ALWAYS had before. Low in confidence and bar one good long cross field pass, had no influence on the game. Maybe needs a rest.

Williams - 3.5 - not a left midfielder, as I am sure he doesn't pretend to be. Started confidently; taking people on, shooting from distance, but fizzled out and lost the ball every time he touched it.

Samuels - 5 - gets into great positions and judges the flight of the ball really well, but let down constantly by his first touch. He also needs to buy some new boots as he spent most of the game falling over. If he improves his first touch and continues to make intelligent runs, he will score goals.

Tudgay - 4 - had little influence on the game, bar the obvious, which to be fair was taken really well. I get the sense he is growing in confidence (hence the casual finish) so give him a few games to see how he progresses.

Subs
Haynes - 4 - no confidence but left isolated when in possession.
G Thomas - 4 - bought on to play left midfield, ended up in centre midfield as part of a three. Neither are his position. Tried to get on the ball and influence the game, looks a little lightweight.
Jackson - 4 - glimpses of a footballer in their somewhere with his movement but needs to retain the ball better.

Would agree with most and you are correct with bobajob, there is no point trying to be the driving force when you are so far out of possession. Reminds me of a good player for U7's team, all over rhe pitch but never where he is needed because his trying to be the hero all the time.

Maybe somebody needs to tattoo Team Player and Keep your shape onto his forehead.

Or

Elvis plays him as a no.10

Jones 5 - Solid other than the goal where I question his positioning, Also too far off his line at times

Phillips 6- 1st half ok, but faded, should he have played this soon after injury????

Martin 4- Why did he give the free kick away???? too many mistakes tonight

Pennington 6 - Shaky start but improved in 2nd half.

Willis 5 Should have been playing CB or RB, why play people out of position?

Barton 5.5 did ok, but always got that feeling he could give more

Fleck 6.5 One of his better games

O'brien 3 Headless chicken, needs to keep the shape or be used in different position. THIS IS A TEAM GAME, BE PART OF THE TEAM OR DON'T PLAY - I would have him just behind the front man in central position

Williams 4.5 Started ok then disappeared towards 1/2 time, didn't leave dressing room for 2nd half

Samuel 5 Good touches, has the ability, but think this team will drag him down to their level, missed a number of chances.

Tudgay (1st half) 1 - Did he start the game???? Think I moved more in my seat
Tudgay (2nd half) 5 - better improved, got into game, well taken goal.

Subs Thomas 5 (out of position)
Jackson 6
Haynes 5 no confidence

Elvis 2.5 - oh dear , that interview, listen to Robins interview and learn from it

jones - 6 - looked solid enough, a few spils but nothing too worrying. happy with his kicking.could have done better with the goal.

phillips - 6 - worked hard but poor with ball at his feet sometimes, got better as game went on. needs to be more attacking

pennington - 6 - very good defensivly, sometimes needs to release ball quciker but i hope he becomes our starting cb

martin - 5 - did well bar the goal where he gave away a dumb freekick. also with ball at his feet is scary

willis 4 - offers nothing attacking, i have more ball control. not his fault out of postion though.

o brien 4 - works hard but its like a kid chasing ball of his dad in park

fleck 6 - sublime chipped throughball for the goal but doesnt take enough responsiblity for me.

barton 6 - battled well and kept ball moving. nearly set up a goal early on

williams 4 - why is a number 10 playing left midfield pressley????

samuel - 6 - always looked our biggest threat. should have got shot on target though when clean through in 1st half

tudgay - 6 worked hard and amaxing finish for the goal. but is his game really that of a target man?

thomas 6 - a bright spark
jackson 6 - nearly set up a goal, extra man up there helped.

overall a poor performance. we are a long ball team despite what pressley says. until last mins where we decide to play ball around the back despite needing a goal! still on plus side we didnt lose and should be good enough to stay up.

bloody hell i pretty much agree with you. Williams obviously struggled as he was up against Clarke (joking)
