I can't understand how keyboard warriors can aim such bile at a team they purport to (4 Viewers)

I would say the vast majority of feedback and game and player ratings have been fair, constructive, honest and pretty accurate to be honest.

Baffling tactics and playing players out of position? Bile?

There are one and two for sure, but most criticism has been constructive and is well founded. Leaking goals, hardly getting a shot on target and playing the likes of Frank Nouble out on the wing.

Way over the top article there merely to sell papers.

I'm on my third time of reading that now and I am still shaking my head.

'Quite right, too! Good gaffers in any profession will upbraid under-performing staff in private but defend them to the hilt in public – that’s what proper management is all about.'

Errrm, defend them to the hilt in public? Did Pressley NOT say these words here then?

"Players were told exactly how it is at this club. I will not defend them anymore,” he added. "I defend these players with my life, all the time, but not anymore because certain individuals are not giving me, or the club, that back. Mark my words players will be banished from this club.'

Fails to mention we are hovering dangerously close to the relegation zone. Terrible journalism. Fair comments if we were 12th and just having a tough time as of late but we are not. Everyone's opinion on here re pressley has been constructive everyone has gave reasons why he should go, most of us endure the crap that's being served up week in week out so aren't we entitled to be unhappy ? Bloody journalistic bile and trolls

Not once does he mention the lack of tactical awareness ! All the huffing and fuffing, workrate etc are useless without tactical awareness.

Tactical awareness, its a phrase often banded around. But what do you mean by it, what do any of us normal blokes really know. Even if you happen to run a Sunday team etc how on earth can we criticise anybody for have a lack of tactical awareness. We don't know what their instructions are, plus tactics are merely an opinion, there is no real right or wrong way to go about things.

Why defend the indefensible?

Alan Poole hasn't realised that he is also part of the online mob, difference being that he gets paid for his words.

This article discussed in this topic from the day before reflects better what the fans feel http://www.skybluestalk.co.uk/threads/53915-Juggy

Tactical Awareness

Watch opposing managers make a change, whether it is a change of shape or a substitution and then watch Pressley / Us not know how to deal with it.

Watch us be 1-0 up and it be obvious we are going to concede, obvious to fans watching, obvious to fans listening but Pressley doesn't do anything about it. ie Gillingham.

A crap article by AP and one that makes no sense bar to sell papers and for people to read. We haven't won at home for 4 months and bar a last second goal we would of lost again and he has the cheek to say the fact are we outplayed scunthorpe and had 5 clear cut chances blah blah blah. Alan we were losing and second away from another loss you utter fool. 4 months without a win at home is ok then Alan?

He goes on about defending his players in public and it's well known what sp said after the Worcester game seems to forget mentioning that.

Also states he 5 words SP always uses and actually admits to him using them all this time and then says we don't have a point ummm Alan we have just heard the 5 words we knew he would and to admitted it. That was our point.

Sorry this is he worst article I have read for a while and needs to be banished from the website. It's really offended me a fan that I have fully justified my position on SP and backed it up with facts like everyone has done to be told by a crap journo that I am wrong when my facts are backed up and his is just opinion.

Facts are we have not won at home since October, we play players in wrong positions, SP uses the same words every performance. We are in a relegation fight With really poor teams.

He can shove this article up his arse. Is he even a Cov fan?

Not sure what planet he's on and why he's having a go at us paying customers who have been served up crap at the Ricoh all season.

Fails to mention we're on the brink of the relegation zone, averaging jus 1 point per game just 1 goal per game

We currently sat 2nd from bottom in the form table, just 3 point from our last 6 games

http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/league-one/2014-2015/form-table/full

At home it's woeful, no win since October, just 1 win since September, just 3 wins in 13 games back at the Ricoh, 4 months since we witnessed the last one. Us ST holders and those matchday attenders spend a lot of money contributing to the players wages to be served up poor entertainment and results. Alan is there on business, he's not spending his hard earned on watching what's been served up.

It's funny he mentions SP sticking to his principles and refusing to go to plan B and praising him for doing so and is equalising - we how many games have we lost, or failed to win because of his refusal to use a plan B? I would wager a fair few.

Yes, we created a few chances and rochdale didn't, but he's failing to acknowledge that scunthorpe had already gone 1-0, playing away from from, trying to keep it tight and not needing to go gung ho for a second. Robins used to do that here too. The onus isn't in away teams to attack and take the initiative.

And he mentions chances falling to Samuel and tudguy, yes they did have 3-4 chances, but we're that defensive playing with 6 defenders (yes that includes fleck and barton/finch) we're completely reliant on the strikers to score goals, it's far too defensive, and that's another reason why Scunthorpe didn't create that much. Our whole mindset is to defend.

It's poor, and Pressley and the boys have 8 games to persuade me to renew next season, because at the minute I'm seriously considering to give it a miss next year.

Otis...I generally find myself agreeing with most of what you say...it's generally well considered and fair. But on this occasion I have to disagree with you in the most polite fashion.
It seems to me that those jumping in first here, to shoot the article down in flames, are those who might feel under some sort of personal attack about their comments, bile, on the internet. As I write this, there hasn't been one positive reaction to the article. I don't intend to defend or attack anyone here, but I'm prepared to cut Pressley some slack, because I too have noticed that chances have been created in front of goal, and squandered, penalties missed...none of which Pressley can have control of in that moment...that's down to the player. Had those chances been taken, I suggest we'd be a lot higher up the table, and our attitude towards our manager would be very different.
It's difficult being the front man when nothing is going right for you, and for the most part I accept Pressley's positivity...I also accept he has the right, to blow his stack, and to get it horribly wrong. And I also accept we have every right to tear him apart as we seem to be doing more than regularly on here.
But my real argument is this....we know all this, but are we helping! The problems at our club are huge, but are we helping by constantly pointing out the obvious! I travel from London for as many games as possible, because I'm a Sky Blue supporter. I never went to Northampton, because I'm a Sky Blue supporter. And as such I shall continue to support the team, and in this case the manager as well, because it's a thankless task, and as fickle fans, we are so easily swayed by what's in front of us, we fail to see the bigger picture...which is as far as I'm concerned sisu, and we will never move forward till they're gone.
It was a brave article to write, and I'll no doubt get some flack for writing this, but I have no idea what is really going on, and neither I suspect, do most of us. So in the meantime I'm going to sit it out under the dark cloud of sisu, and hope that one day soon, they do the decent thing and move on....then we can all let our shoulders drop, and look forward to watching our team play. PUSB!

That proves the point... Pressley must think that the plan that he wants implemented will stop whatever plan an opposing team comes up with.

I think "tactics" is often overused by fans, you can have the greatest tactics in the world, however if a defender fails to pick up a runner from deep etc or somebody doing something different to that they have done all game then thats not down to the tactics thats down to the player and whether he is good enough to cope with the situation. The "tactics" are only as good as the player on the pitch carrying them out.

It's click-bait, pay no attention.

Instead, click HERE where a Premier League ace REVEALS how he nearly signed for Coventry. And probably miraculously lost weight too.

Who does he think he is the fat useless c**t? I've just made my feelings known in the comments section in full keyboard warrior mode. Interesting how The Birmingham Mail managed to assist in the removal of Paul Lambert and then we get this buffoon actually defending a manager who is even worse!! You couldn't make it up. Even Linnell appeared to question Pressley the other night, something I never thought I would see!

I think the fact that he gets paid to watch that turgid pile of shit as a non supporter, whilst we feel the pain and have to pay for the pleasure of it, just shows what a pile of tosh Alan Poole has written.

Why is defending players to the hilt good management? Says who?

I'm not asking him to come out and tear the team to shreds but don't make out it was sensational when at best it was below average.

He surrendered whatever semblance of a point he had by conflating 'people who can type' with 'keyboard warriors' in the same way that someone may desperately decide that a person they disagree with is a troll.

@ SkyBlueScottie........Tactical awareness is seeing a situation and reacting in a positive way. If your main tactic goes wrong, you must be able to change to counteract it. As for a player loosing the man he is supposed to be marking and that player scores against us(A la Webster) who was responsible for 3 of 6 goals scored against us in 2 games. Tactical awareness tells me to swap things around in order to try nullify what has happened. If players are not good enough, remind yourself who it is that brought them to the Club? Swindon is a perfect example of bringing in players that can actually play the game, and Robins is the perfect tactician in this league.

I hope he is misconstruing the abuse from a couple of people such as the '️️c' word. Then generalising his response.

Most have a right to their opinion and have not turned to bile when they expressed it.

alan poole you twat. what the fuck is wrong with our local paper?

a few things

*we did lump it forward....alot
*paddy maddens long rangers went closer than our short rangers
*we passed it sideways and backwards because players are scared to take on a man or play a incisive pass, not becayse of ball retention and patience.
*pressleys post interviews are annoying

although i do agree we made 7-8 good chances so if we ever took them could be a different story.

Embarrassingly Mr Poole is starting to get his point proven
