I'm from a very proud Coventry family. My gran and her neighbour used to put up Brian Roberts, Gary Gillespie and Ray Gooding when they were in our academy and lived and breathed City in that era going to u 18, reserves and first team games. It is in our blood and I refuse to take this lying down. In a massive rage right now and wondered if people are always as 'peaceful' as their online persona? Arrrrrrrrrgggghhhhh

Yeh I get ya. It just feels bottled up n ready to pop but I have no idea what to with the feelings. Yeh i'm angry!

I was very close to smashing the radio today listening to presley's interview, ive been in a mardy all night not really spoke to the mrs but women dont understand do they? Yep im pretty pissed off tonight

Women really don't understand! Tried explaining a few times, turns out women don't care about anything as much as men do about footie outside the family, so no analogies accessible either!

Can sympathise. Was driving on the way home from shopping with the mrs and I asked her if she could get the FT score up for me (she hates football and I knew we were 2-0 up with about 15 to play against 10 men, so I thought it was a safe comment). All of a sudden she went quiet and made me ask for the score again. I went as ballistic as you could whilst trying to drive like a normal human being, I was fuming. I'm a regular fan, don't live in the area so I get to a few games a season if I can, but my patience has worn thin. I like to think I'm a reasoned poster, I weigh up arguments and try to give a fair assessment of City if possible, but I've had enough of SP and his ways now. Something has to change, but I wonder if it's too late to change the gaffer this season, it being mid-February......

I have already gone through the anger stage. That was when I was arguing with anyone on here that was saying that SP is the man to take us forward and team wise all is OK. I am now resigned to Division 4 football next season unless something changes for the better and very quickly before it is too late.

My anger got exhausted during the Thorn era and to think we actually had fans who refused to question his ability and backed sisu to the hilt in their continued employment of him.

Despite the real hope that we had under Robins and last season under Pressley, now I think it's worth getting angry over. Like the Thorn season, the writing is on the wall and we are going to get relegated this season if nothing changes. If SP had any self-respect then he would offer his resignation but like thorn he will continue to pick up wages for a job he cannot do.

People will react in either two ways. They let the anger go and loose interest as it is in most cases and vent on here or phone ins. The other has not happened yet but I believe it won't be too long before Fisher gets smacked or property gets damaged, you can't condone it but it's enevitable as that's how some people express themselves.

My mate turned up to take over from me at work and I got my phone out to show him the city score... We were a man up and 2 up the last I saw...

I pressed refresh

Waited an agonizing 30 seconds (crappy reception at work)

Then saw we had chucked it away again

My mate(arsenal fan) laughed a little until he saw my face

He could tell my night was ruined

Fookin city !!

Would have taken the point this time yesterday but got teased again by the skyblues, dangling a lovely 3 point carrot right Infront of my nose, only to replace it with and other swift kick in the balls !!!

I shout at the match, but ultimately as a rational adult I tend not to smash things up. An occasional forum rant, but apart from that just general apathy. Grow up and get some anger management.

I like that film, but it frustrates the hell out of me. Think they missed a trick. For me the guy should have been just a normal guy gradually pushed to the limits until he snapped, rather than the filmmakers simply paint him as someone with mental problems.

Could have been an absolute classic, rather than just the good film that it is.

But they already had the Michael Douglas character as having problems with mental health. It would have been so much more powerful had they had him seemingly as a much more 'normal' man. I think we should have seen the disintegration on screen, rather than have him explained away as someone already suffering mental health problems.

I saw the film again recently and didn't take it that way at all. I took it very much that he was a ordinary bloke with a dull job who has a break down (to use an old expression) There may have been some suggestion that it was always in him but that just illustrates the point that it is in all of us, any one of us. Mental health does not discriminate.
Unless I went to lav and missed something?

I haven't seen it for a while, but I have seen it twice and I thought it very much came across as laying it on thick that he had mental health problems for some considerable time.

Oh well. All in the interpretation we all make as individuals I suppose.

I can see where Otis Is coming from that It may have made more of a spectacle but would Imagine a breakdown comes as a result of longer term events or adverse treatment by others, concluding a one day meltdown to be most unlikely

Yep, interpretation. Have you ever discussed an event from years ago with a mate only to find he remembers it completely differently? The mind is strange old lump of meat!

I think this excerpt from a critical review sums it up better than me and shows how we could have interpreted differently.


Joel Schumacher's urban paranoid tale, Falling Down, cannot decide whether its hero is an ordinary human being or a deranged psychopath. Playing it both ways, the filmmakers also cannot determine whether we should feel sympathy or sorry for the “victimization” of their white all-American yuppie (anti) hero.

Well it can a consequence of life events but it can also be a chemical inbalance in the brain that can happen to anyone and is impossible to predict.

I did like the film, but at the same time I found it frustrating.

From what I recall you start off thinking he is just a normal guy having a bad day who then he loses his cool on this particular day, but then as the film wears on, it is explained away that he is a man who has real mental problems, so for me it came across as if that was just an excuse for his actions, where I think it would have been 10 times more powerful if he had just been a 'normal' guy pushed to the edge, who ends up losing it.

For that last example could be any one of us to my mind. I think we all have the capacity to breakdown in this manner. I just felt the filmmakers copped out in having them explain his behaviour because of long term mental problems.

Haha! Maybe it was intended to divide opinion then?
(Although the reviewer reveals his ignorance by using the word 'psychopath' That he certainly is not.)

I take your point but I don't remember them saying he had long term MH problems! I might have to watch the darn thing again now!
