The Sky Blues sent Pressley packing on Monday morning following a poor run of form - no wins in seven - which had seen the League One strugglers slip into the relegation zone (21st). The Midlands club have already been linked with a number of gaffers, although it's the 5/4 priced (Sky Bet) Mowbray who currently sits at the summit of the market
The former Celtic, West Brom, Hibernian and Boro boss has been out of work since leaving the Riverside back in October 2013 following an underwhelming three years in charge. Mowbray, who was recently linked with Scunthorpe, likes to employ an attack minded, high-tempo style of football, which would no doubt go down well at the Ricoh. However, it's important to remember that the former defender is by no means the only candidate for the vacancy, with the likes of caretaker manager Dave Hockaday, James Beattie, Uwe Rosler, and Darren Ferguson - who left Peterborough last weekend - also in the running.

Was very noticeable in the "Are you in the crowd" photos from the last game that they were all very close up so as not to show the huge gaps in the crowd that gave the lie to the attendance figure given.

I won't forget their article to the effect of 'by the way this crowd is much bigger than the Sky Blues got against Fleetwood'. We could also consider that this is a paper which (belatedly) rallied against the club playing outside Coventry and now has no qualms with the rugby franchisees. Reading between the lines, I would assume the source is Mowbray himself (or via his agent), and has issued a come-and-get-me message. If that's the case, then it suggests he is up for the challenge. I imagine financial resources would be problematic though.

Yep, just stick the word "understands" in your article and it doesn't matter if it's true or not.

There's a sizeable difference between 'It is understood' and 'The Coventry Telegraph understands'. Taking ownership of the rumour.

I mean, who else but Mowbray or his agent could come up with the quotes used. If the CT was making it up, then their reputation could be hammered by Mowbray coming out and saying 'This is rubbish, I have no interest in the job.' The reporter is using a source and has his desk editor's approval.

Not saying that Mowbray will end up taking the job...but there's no good reason to doubt the story.

Reading between the lines, I would assume the source is Mowbray himself (or via his agent), and has issued a come-and-get-me message. If that's the case, then it suggests he is up for the challenge. I imagine financial resources would be problematic though.

If he wanted the job then surely he would have applied, which apparently he didn't so why mess around playing hard to get? It isn't some sort of teenage drama show.
