How much have they spent since they were alongside us last year?

Is it next year where if you finish bottom of the Prem you earn 100 million?

Their average attendance last year was 9 k

So you are SISU

Should we spend 30-40 million on a new stadium that IMO will saddle us with a debt level we can never recover from.
At the same time use the academy to pay for the club.
I would guess under this model at the new stadium crowds would be 7-12k

Or would you forget about the new stadium and spend the money like Bournemouth add 20-30 million debt onto the existing 30-40 million.

Do one season in the Prem don't invest in the team sell the lot after you have banked the 100 million for getting relegated.

If we have a decent manager that can spot decent players for not much money and also know what to do with them then yes give it a try. But they have already seen what happens when they give the wrong manager money to spend.

It might even be the extra money from Sky to the Prem clubs that has made them stay longer :(

SISU would never consider that as an idea. Now, if you can work an angle in where it involves employing lawyers in court cases you're golden.

It is certainly a strategy option. The new Premiership deal is mind boggling and indicates why all these foreign owners are turning up. It is global money and cash ! If the likes of Bournemouth, Brentford etc. can knock the Prem door than so could we. We just need the will of our owners and proper people running the club.

You should post this to every single club forum in league one and two.

Then every fan will tell every owner find every club will be in the premier league in a couple of years.

Thing is guys we have not spent as much as people think - we got a massive windfall from Adam Lallana sell on fee and of course the money we spent on buying Callum came from us selling Lewis Grabban for 3.5 Mill. Apart from that most of the team that feature are players we had whilst in League 1 and some even from League 2 like Brett Pitman who scored two last night.

Anyway only popped on to wish you luck with your new manager and hope that you guys get a decent crowd and get behind the team at the ricoh today. PUSB and UTC.

But thats the dream for owners and Fans alike. They have a route to compete with the best. Sport is competitive so if you don't want to be the best you can you have no place in the football league.

If you buy a lottery ticket do you purchase it with the intention of winning or just supporting it so you can buy one next week?

Think the OP sums up most premier league and league 1 business plans, finish as high as you can an earn as much as you can

What happens if they miss out on promotion this season? And next season? What if your still applying that strategy in 5 years time and you're still in the championship? Saying throw money at taking a punt is all well and good, but you can't guarantee that you'll achieve it. Looking at the championship table, it's so tight any of the top 7 can realistically win the league.

It's a high risk strategy and given we've been on the edge of insolvency for years, is not one we should be advocating for our club.

I reckon Bournemouth will miss out on automatic promotion and have to settle for the lottery of the play-offs, where they will most likely miss out again. I always thought Wilson was using them as a stepping stone to a big contract the Premier League and there will be lots of interest in the summer for him. That would apparently give City a windfall too.

It's such a fine margin though. If they did succeed, suddenly from nowhere they are awash with cash. Fail and they will possibly be back down with the deadwood (us!) within a couple of years. That is the madness of the modern game.

But least there up challenging. I remember not long back going there on a Tuesday night and beating them. Now look at us and where we are and look at b'mouth. It's called ambition which sadly for sisu is a word they don't know

Portsmouth were similarly ambitious I recall.

Great result last night, to score 5 away without your two best strikers scoring is stunning !

If they make it then congratulations to them.

Remember only 3 teams can get promoted, how many teams haven't been successful like Bournemouth could be and have ran themselves into trouble in the process of chasing the dream.

I wish they'd use their lawyers for good and argue the new deal fucks over the lower leagues.

To be fair, downsizing the stadium, relying on the academy and hoping for a miracle isn't exactly guaranteed success either.

That's football.

I think the extra money from the FA will create a bigger gulf in the championship, between those clubs that have and those that have not. It will be more like the prem with the same richest teams winning everything, and the poorer teams unable to compete. I think there is a chance to join that group of elite clubs in the next couple of seasons with promotion/relegation money, but after that I should imagine it will become extremely difficult for any club that hasn't already had the benefit of that level of investment to compete..

I hope Sisu put a promotion clause in the Wilson deal because in my opinion watching them they go up for me...They are an excellent side, full a good players Arter, Surman, Ritchie, Pugh, Pitman and Wilson create so many chances and the football is great to watch... They make teams work so hard when they have the ball and Wikson drags defenders all over the place ,, creates space for the others.

So great model off the pitch , fantastic on it no shock really they are doing well,, i hope they go up and are allowed to play the same way....Entertaining side..

Or maybe just the ones who are talking about investing 40 million in a new stadium. As the only way to recoup nearly 100 million.

Surely investing it in players is a far better way to get your money back

As were Southampton, Leicester and even man City when they were in our position.

we can all pick teams to try and back an argument.

No it's just not easy to find teams who made a success of it who did not have billionaire owners and a £29 million player budget.

Promotion and relegation happen all the time, new names, new mega rich backers. As Bournemouth are confirming any team in the country could be them with the backing and management, wasn't that long ago Bournemouth were docked something like 30 points and on skid row, now the Prem riches beckon, a nice neck of the woods to attract the foreign stars too.

Obviously revenue streams are important. The SKY money of the premiership is the bright light that every moth is trying to reach.
For us, it's not within touching distance; so should be put on the back burner. Treated like a target, yes, but not at the moment achievable.
So without the big telly money; what CAN we do?

Look at Spain and Germany; why?

Because TV money over there, is NOT their holy grail.

Ok they might lose big names to the premiership, but it seems to be about the fans.

I believe SISU are toxic and they probably know this themselves. For advertising revenue, Mr Waggott or Fisher should get independent marketing people to establish what amounts could be raised through big deals. JLR, Loydds and other local fans should be approached.

Get the shop stocked. We don't want to dig out our old '87 scarves. Get the kids wearing Sky Blue. Get the shop to where the footfall is.

Get bums on seats. Still cater for the prawn sandwich crowd; but more importantly it's the masses we need. Maybe an area of non seating to allow the less well off.
People have got to feel going as an experience they can look back on, and sell to their kids, (having slightly embellished, or differed due to age).
To achieve this it's what is served up on the pitch. Ok we are not probably ever going to be a Chelsea/Man City, but we WiLL support underdogs, so long as they are seen to be giving their all. 100% will be enough.
Like I say, I believe SISU are toxic. They are not going anywhere. So maybe not SISU out; just disappear like the debt. Rant over. PUSB for all our sakes.
