Martin and Stokes (2 Viewers)

Does anyone know how Martin keeps getting in the team? Liability, for the third he had lost the ball stupidly, won it back then lost it again. Didn't even win his aerial battles today...willis should be at cb with Pennington and phillips in at rb. There's a reason yeovil didn't want martin.

Stokes although I want him to be isn't good enough for this level. Tries hard but too slow and sluggish, what has gone on with haynes?! Who has he annoyed.

Phillips, Pennington, Willis and Haynes for me next game.

Willis for first, stokes for second, Martin for third. If in doubt, kick it out. Individual mistakes.

Every goal scored is down to an individual's mistake.

Haynes has been doing what Stokes and Martin did today all season - namely be shit.

Now that Phillips is back, hopefully we can revert back to the sensible line up we saw play so well V Walsall. But then again TM will probably see that as being too inexperienced which would be a fair comment in truth but it looked tighter than any other defence I've seen in recent years

First lesson in football don't piss about in the wrong areas. problem with Stokes is fitness. Bit harsh to point finger at Burge, he was dropped in the shit 3 times by defender errors.

Burge time wastes at 2-1 down, off add Willis to the list. Dire.

It is true that he wasn't directly at fault for the 3 goals but his all round game is diabolical. He punched a shot which was straight at him, then dropped a cross and his kicking either went out of play or was aimless. I just cannot stand the guy.

He kicks the ball out of play way too much

How about the throw out straight to a Donny player? That was terrible!

And I think I know the shot you mean. In the first half where he parried it out to his left? Not sure if it swerved or if he just thought 'I have to get something on this so I don't make a fool of myself trying to catch it'

This. At least TM had the good sense to spot what everyone except SP could see and drop the lumbering Webster.

I think you should add Burge to the list. Appalling goalkeeping yet again today.

I said it several games ago, we need an experienced GK to see us through the relegation battle. Cannot understand why they did not renew the last guy's loan till the end of season.

You would think they could either coach that out of him or stop him booting it and tell him to play a short easy ball.

In a general sense, would be nice if we had keepers that built from the back. Remember our first relegation year:facepalm: where Hedman insisted on booting the ball long to the Bellamy-midget every game, which was only so helpful!

I was not Martin's biggest fan first time round and was not sure why he was resigned but the fact is that him and Pennington are probably the pick of what we have, unless we play Willis in there but there is limited experience. Stokes has looked 'OK' the games I have seen him but has a distinct lack of pace and from the commentary was at fault today.

Mowbray will have a chance to overhaul the squad in the summer and I'm sure he is taking notes from all that we do wrong at this time. At least he is limited with what praise he gives out, Pressley was perhaps too complementary when it wasn't deserved which makes me think that Mowbray, when he has the chance to rebuild will be ruthless and bring in what we need. He can only work with what he has unless he can send back a load of the loanees, which is easier said the done if we have committed to paying their wages until the summer.

We could go in for Richard Wood, he's been on loan at Crawley and it expired today I think. They will almost certainly be trying to extend it so would have to go in fast.

Who drops out?

We currently have
Pennington
Stokes
Odelusi
Samuel
Ward
......
......
proswichz.

You would think stokes is in his long term plans for the rest of the season otherwise he wouldn't have extended it.

My first choice to drop would be Stokes, then Odelusi.

I don't think Mowbray would have any worries dropping Stokes out if he thought he could get some better or put out a better team.

After today I would be checking to see if we can get rid of Stokes he is a disaster waiting to happen.

His coach is Oggy a man who had appalling distribution.

In all honesty, if the lad can't kick a ball straight by now, they're not likely to be able to change that in a hurry. And with the pitch being iffy it's more important that he puts his foot through it. Trouble is - if we're not playing well/losing - a sliced/poor goalkeeping clearance adds to the crowd's frustration/agitation more than a forward hitting a duff cross. Don't know why - just does!

Been coached by the same man for a long time probably since he was a junior, the thing that makes me most mad is that he is so slow at taking goal kicks and general release.

Its not Stokes fault. He has done ok since he came here, but today was poor.

We cant expect to sign a non league reserve left back and expect 8/10 performances every week.

Stokes was fucking awful on Saturday at such a critical stage at 1.1 and you go and fuck around with it as last man, was truely shocking and not the first time he has cost us valuable points, I cannot wait for Mowbray to overhaul this squad and get rid of donkeys such as Stokes and Martin who are clearly not what we need to take us to the next level if Mowbray stays that is!

If we're hunting for scapegoats there are another 11 who appeared aside from a Burge, Martin and Stokes who are just as culpable for an inept performance.

Agreed. It's all very well slagging off the defenders but the midfield as a unit doesn't work.

Ward made a difference to start but in the second half was less effective. The wide midfielders offered zero cover to the fullbacks. If you want success at this level you will always struggle when fleck and Barton are two of the midfield. They are just not good enough.

Against MK Dons Martin stokes and the rest of the defence were superb - withstanding a barrage of atracks. This time they struggled but some of the others were equally as poor.
