The Givers and the Takers (11 Viewers)

Inspired by the "This Squad" thread. I realized that I miss the players that love the game and play for the pride of the team & city. I think most fans could get behind a team that gave 100% even if they lost more than they won.

There's nothing more frustrating than watching a well paid player "Going through the motions" (or not).
Who is your biggest giver and taker over the years.

I'm going to go with.

George Curtis & Kevin Kyle

Totally impossible to say in terms of givers but as for takers got to be Kevin Kyle!!!!!

Kyle gets s ridiculous negative press. He wasn't great but I never saw any evidence he didn't try 100%

He stood up to be counted unlike many others such as Johnson in this squad and the likes of Drinkwell Sandy Robertson etc who took a wage and gave nothing back.

In fairness I'm limited to 1 or 2 games a season, and chose Kyle based on two T.V. games where I saw him continually lose possesion and shrug it off with absoutely no attempt at chasing back. I stand by my pick.

To be quite honest, he tried too hard if anything.

Bell was a waste of 4 years. Clingan? I thought he would be great for us and was expecting so much from him, but he was distinctly average at best.

Stuart Robson for his dedication to pre match warm up, out on the pitch 15 minutes before anyone else. Then covering the pitch with determination and eloquent passes..despite a crippling injury.

Freddie Eastwood for contributing sod all and not showing any interest in getting match fit.

Bellamy for just being a tosser and contributing little for his price. Marcus hall for being a diehard despite lacking quality

No mention of Lloyd McGrath yet? A sky blue god!

Yes but couldn't pass further than a yard with any modicum of accuracy. If he had any passing ability, seriously, he would have been international class.

I bet he is sat at home looking at Andy Webster thinking what could have been!

Managed to play in the top div with no passing ability for many years.

I bet Andy Webster is sat at home looking at all SP's comments on Andy Webster and thinking what could have been. and wondering why he's not in for World Footballer of the Year.

I can't remember one 60's player that didn't give his all for the City. One or two from the 70's. F**king loads in the squads over the last 6-7 years, and none more so than King who used us purely to get back into football. F**king Wa**er!

Roy wegerle took the pi$$ whilst here cost a lot and so casual and disappeared without a trace, Micky Gynn - work rate was tremendous

Probably because he was the best man to man marker out there. :)

C'mon, Give us a giver. Is there a chance you're not old enough to remember any givers?

Has to be Tommy Hutch for me - 8 years at Highfield Road 355 games/30 goals (1972-1980) - totally committed to CCFC rarely injured averaging 44 games per season and playing for fun.

Loyal
Brilliant
Inspirational
A credit to the game
A total giver if ever there was one

Big Mo always gave 100%.
Lloyd McGrath, 120%.
Mick Quinn genuinely loved his time here and thought the fans great.

How times change.

Gallacher and Wegerle were total opposites with regards to giving and taking, and part of the same deal that saw Gally leave.

Biggest taker has to be Bellend. He really didn't give a shit when playing for us and as good as admitted it after leaving.

Kevin Kyle always tried his best but for whatever reason his move here never worked out.

Paul Telfer. Easy money for him for not doing a lot. Didn't even like football. Good at running around on the pitch pointing at things.

Giver - Big Mo. Personally didn't rate him, but his heart was in it.

Lloyd McGrath was the heartbeat of that team.....top top effort.

Roland Nilsson was also a big giver....not in a huff & puff way as he read the game so well, he rarely needed to, but he gave so much to the club, not just on match day but also spent a lot of extra time with the youth & academy players....

.....I still think he was hard done by when he was sacked for our 6 game capitulation that saw us drop out of the playoffs.....

Keith fucking O'neil was one lazy useless twat.....14K per week we were paying him allegedly....makes me sick!!
