Short answer, probably.

how will they recent new factory announcement effect them, is that not the best free local branding available?

i suspect who ever takes over sponsorship will have it in the contract from wasps that they have to pay to change the seats to black (might as well do all 4 when your redoing the main stand which has ricoh on it)

Seat colours only matter when the seats are empty.

Ricoh, the company that is, have certainly had plenty of exposure since they sponsored the stadium, more than many. Hardly anyone had heard of them before, almost a household name now locally atleast.

I'm often sceptical of the success of these sort of things, do you think anyone could actually tell you what Ricoh actually do/produce? I'd guess the majority of the locals cannot they just know their name or do you know anyone has used there service as a direct result of the Ricoh sponsorship.

The natural sponsor ought to be JLR. If it is up surely they will bid?
Soon WASP crowds will dwindle to a level unsustainable (can you see them maintaining say 18-20k a match? and at what ticket price?)
The football club in my mind is paramount to WASP. Seat colours may have to go neutral but who cares.
For me any deal with a sponsor will be worth more if CCFC remain. WASP will need to think very carefully going forward and involve the football club fully. Can they offer a better deal and a share of the stadium? I think it will all play out long before any 'set' departure the football club has currently agreed to.

I can't see any reason why wasps can't maintain 15k+ crowds, they are a premiership side in a strong rugby catchment area.
interestingly I found out this week that bar spend at a wasps games is nearly 9 times higher than ccfc and as a result supply contracts are being renegotiated in favour of ACL.
perhaps a major brewery sponsor is possible. The Old speckled hen stadium anyone?

Such a hotbed for rugby, that's why most of the wasps new fans have almost certainly never been to watch CRFC or Tigers despite them being on our doorstep for years...

Whilst i'd definitely agree with this in most cases for established brands (It is genuinely beyond me why firms pay so much to sponsor kits - I heard that Adidas paid £750m for a 10 year deal to make Man Uniteds kits....) I think in this case it's probably worked. I'd never heard of Ricoh before they sponsored our stadium. Obviously they predominantly make printers - I'm sure most of Coventry knows that now! Fine, I haven't gone out an bought a Ricoh printer as a direct result of the sponsorship, but I'm probably not their target market, I think they make huge office printers - thats what we have at our work! Whereas before I just thought Xerox made them...

Don't bank on Wasps being a flash in the pan, lot of non footballing rugger fans watching games, lots of Brummies too, no Prem rugby teams in the whole West Midlands area which is bazzar really.

Shame really if they just bothered to carry on down the A45 they would have had the chance to have watched a proper local Premiership Rugby team, who are the Current Champions, and have been local to the area since existence.
Still if people want to jump on the bandwagon, its a shame for them it wont be a successfull one.
Do not agree, the Ricoh group are mentioned every week in some form or other, you see the name from one of the busiest motorways in the country. They would be foolish not to pay over the odds to keep the name as major sponsor. However, others would probably pay a great deal more to get such publicity.

I think alot of people on here don't understand the mentality of Rugby fans. My boss is a Leicester tigers fan but can't get a ticket for love or money so he goes and watches Wasps instead simply for the reason he can get a ticket.

I would say that a lot of new Wasps fans are like me in respect that they had not really bothered with Rugby other than the big international games. That level of Rugby is a different standard to the lower leagues and to have it on your doorstep is now a bonus. Tigers are not on our doorstep.

Tigers are our doorstep and have been since 1880's. People travel as far from South warwickshire and beyond to come and watch ccfc.
