Everytime this gets mentioned I bring up the fact that Pressley said this season has said we DO have scouts, not sure what has happened to them though if they are not still there.

I thought this was one of the pointers to show that the footballing side was moving forward - a bigger and better scouting network under SP.

He did say that side needed developing, mind you.

And if the answer's zero, it certainly does!

Also does go some way to:

a) explaining why Pressley seemingly never slept going to games and the like and

b) why we get utter dross!

It was

http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sp...ews/coventry-city-steven-pressley-set-8229738
said the City manager who is sitting down with the club’s chief scout this week.“I’ve got another meeting with Graham Brown about targets and this weekend me and Neil have the opportunity to get out and see several games and, again, we’ll look at some targets as well, so it’s going to be a really important period.

http://www.ccfc.co.uk/news/article/...worcester-city-jack-finch-061114-2067496.aspx

“I think over the last year we’ve tried to drive and improve the recruitment policy. We now have seven to eight scouts on the road every week searching for players identifying players and doing the necessary reports on them.

http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sp...news/steven-pressley-ready-look-lower-8148125
“Graham Brown heads up the recruitment just now and we’ve got six or seven guys on the road but that’s just been since the start of the season, and slowly but surely we’re creating a database.

Either Pressley/Mowbray are lying which doesn't seem likely or its completely disappeared in the last few months.

Look at the quotes I posted from this season, apparently we had a head of recruitment and around 7 scouts. So no idea whats happened there and why they are no longer here.

I know of a ex player asked by SW to scout for the club down south,,,,, wages were, pence per mile covered and the rest for the love of the club.. Now if i was a scout and were told this, my first thought would be if you couldn't afford me how can you afford players i recommend,, waste of time and effort..I know most will doubt this or ask who the player was, i won't say who and don't expect all to believe but this us the truth..

We are poorly ran and through some luck with cup draws and certain players stepping up we have managed to get by,, for how long this can continue is anyone's guess.. Also look at TM comments about Haynes, being not ready he and Maddison will be burnt out or damaged if the club doesn't sort this situation out...

Scouts get paid peanuts full stop, not just our club. What that ex player told you sounds like standard fare

Yep, I'm sure we were told by SP that this was sorted.

If the club don't own the rights to any work done by their employees then they are badly run indeed.

Can we expect another court case where SP is sued for stealing club assets any minute now.

Bring back Andy Thorn. He was a class act as a Scout! Spotted some great talent in Dann, Fox, Gunnarson and Westwood.

Dann, Fox & Westwood were hardly "discoveries" were they......they'd played about league 300 games between them before we signed them up......hardly plucked from obscurity.

Also, I'd suggest you look at the other "talent" Thorn brought to our club.........dear oh dear

Dann and Fox signed for the club when Thorn was employed at Fulham. Still never let an urban myth get in the way.

Gunnarson had nothing to do with thorn and Westwood was league one goalkeeper of the year and cost £750,000.

Thorn has publically admitted to only signing one player - David Bell

Perhaps it was just personal contacts working for him because we couldn't afford to have a paid network. Who knows. But the quality we have had in the door the last few years suggests the system isn't working and as good as non existent.

A lot of lower league clubs have little to no scouting these days. Most of it is done online, there's 2 databases clubs can subscribe to that have all the player details uploaded and match footage available. Means scouting can be done without the need to send people all over the place. Once they have their eye on someone then I would guess one of the coaching staff, manager or Waggot goes out and takes a look in person.

Reading TM's interview today SP took all the data with him when he left and scouts worked for him personally. TM said whenever he left a club this data was always left for the next manager!!!!

Bit of a dickish move by Pressley tbh, could have at least left the reports/data gathered. What about Macfarlane, wouldn't he have had copies or has Pressley forbid him from passing them on?

Seems a bit of a dig towards Pressley as well here 'I didn’t have it on a USB and take it with me and say, you’re not having that.'

It seems like a dig at the club, one scout for the Midlands, then SP expanded it...now they are gone? That says SP expanded a dire system off his own bat? The club didn't, that is why there is now no system....what are TF and SW doing...no scouting system in the infra structure of the club.....no wonder we have signed any dross that any agent can off load onto us.

TF and SW lead weights round the clubs neck. But we run this club like it is in the Championship...yeah where you got us relegated from...jokers
