It is a football game and these sorts of things are expected, but I absolutely understand the point of the OP.

Numerous times this season I have witnessed kids or, even worse, fully grown men, shouting constant abuse at the home fans. No interest in the game, no eyes on the pitch, but a constant barrage of abuse spouted. While a level of banter is absolutely expected, tolerated and enjoyed by most (it is part and parcel of away games) when it goes too far it's both cringeworthy, frustrating and outright pathetic.

Too many times this season I have been distracted from the game by lary fans attempting to engage me in shouting abuse at opposite fans, who most of the time don't even acknowledge it, and/or missed key points/goals as fans have been in the way/moving around in an attempt to get closer to the home fans.

While I acknowledge a level of "banter" is encompassed within an away day, when it overly encroaches on my enjoyment of the game or fellow CCFC fans are accused of not being "real" fans because they don't want to shout abuse from the safety of another stand, it does become annoying.

I go because I love Coventry City and I want to watch, and support, them. Not to waste time and money acting like I'm the hardest man in Coventry.

I can`t comment of course on how things are today at matches but given my experiences at times back in the day I`m reminded of part of that old song ;-

Saw said types when we played Millwall, giving it absolute loads and then running like the wind when anybody looks at them.

Few of them on the train with me between New Street and Leamington. gabbing off about a skirmish ("I got one flying spin kick in?!?") they had back on the way to the station. Average height (about 8-10 of them) was 5ft 2",boosted by one who was 5' 10" and look suspiciously like Frank Nouble (could have been him, as he wasn't up to much else on Saturday IIRC). Don't think any of them had reached final year of school.

Pisses me off in the Family Zone when people feel the need to swear so much, especially the C Bomb. Go sit somewhere else if you want to do that, likewise if people take kids into the scoreboard and moan about swearing they should really move round to the Family Zone if they have an issue.

I was near the halfway line today about 15 rows back, and down at the front , in the "overspill" section on the extreme right of our lot were a group of "well 'ard" spotty teenager giving the verbals and fingers from the start of the game right to the end.

One in particular, who kept taking off his jacket , then realising he was a skinny bastard and mum would tell him off if he didn't wear it, spent the entire match wanting to take on the whole of the Notts County end, to our right . By the middle of the second half this little group had attracted around 3 stewards who kept warning them to pack it in. They should have thrown the tosser out.



I hope after the game the Notts Couny fans found him and gave him a damned good slapping. That'll teach him.
Not that I'm condoning violence.

For me the segregation of home and away supporters makes football what it is, there is no singing in rugby which for me is what i love about football. I have never been to a rugby game so cannot compare atmosphere but doesnt seem to have the same effect.

This isn't about Football v rugby, its about the "acceptable" behaviour of certain individuals / groups in football v any other sport (or any other aspect of society).

I went to 2 of the Olympic games at the Ricoh. A lot of mixing between the fans, it was a great atmosphere !

I know it wont change overnight, but if its not accepted, it will become even more in the minority

It can be described as quiet, with polite clapping. Not the atmosphere I'd want in football for sure!

That's not quite true, there can be a cracking atmosphere at Rugby....................all that said nothing beats the buzz of a worked up football crowd with a bit of rivalry thrown in !

If so, I'd decided to give him the benefit of being the one referred to in another thread as having mental health problems. if it wasn't him.....then yes, a bit of a tosser (first impressions and all that )
