says our big german is a great finisher.

but some of our fans said after just 20mins vs bradford he was the worst player to EVER(i kid you not) pull on a city shirt.

silly mowbray.....

Not the old 'he looks great in training' line. How many times have we heard that one, if they were as good in actual matches as they are supposed to be in training we'd be in the prem! Fingers crossed Mowbray is right as we're running out of options for goalscorers.

just after 20 mins vs everyday in training.....there might be a clue there?

he might not be what we need long term but if he gets a couple of goals to keep us up the loan would be a success. TM's job is to manage, that means manage with the available resources...that might mean boosting some people's confidence and massaging a few egos just to get us over the line.

It isn't in TM's interest to spin us a favourable picture...he's a proper manager who tells us how it is, and if he starts with him tomorrow, I'm confident it will be the right decision.

he could well be a great finisher. Doesnt stop him from being a clueless donkey who doesn't know his arse from an elbow....but stick him one on one with a keeper with no crowd and no defenders and he probably sticks them top bins every time!!

He's probably not lying, just being positive!

Of course players have to produce performances in game time. But surely they have to show the signs in training first?

the same applies to Managers

The guy behind me at the County match was raging at him before he'd even kicked a ball!! Pathetic

If that was before anyone kicked a ball it is ridiculous.

if it is in the 89th minute of his gametime fair enough.

Yeah, especially Jordan Clarke!

ridiculous comment liked by jordan clarkes cousin.

jordan clarke was shit. but he was given backing everytime to come up good and he failed numerous times(and succeeded a few at centreback too)

a player can be shit. just take longer than 20 mins before you judge.

His pre-match shooting was horrific. Scored no more than 2 our of 15 shots.

Didn't think he had a terrible game Saturday, he worked hard and put himself about.

He seems slightly similar to Madine - both couldn't score.

Perhaps we can convince Colchester it's just a training match, then we've got it made. I will be driving through their in a couple of hours on my way back from Harwich, maybe I could stop off and arrange it.:)

I can never get my head round this "looked good in training" comment. Training usually consists of running round plastic cones or standing in a circle tapping the ball to each other followed by a knockabout game for 20 minutes or so. Anyone could look good doing shit like that. It's how they perform on the big pitch, in front of a crowd, against a full team trying to beat you!

I used to go and watch them train every now and then, this is going back many years. They used to have 6 or 7 a side games at the end of training. Always remember that Strachan, who had retired from playing by then, was clearly far better than anyone else.

With forwards through are defenders as aggressive in training? Wouldn't have thought so, could just be a case that when he gets a chance without any pressure he can put it away, very different to a match situation.

I think Pressley mentioned to Waggot just before he got the sack, that Proscwotizywotxy was the best finisher he had ever seen, then the gullible Waggot signed him up

Predictable that CCFC must have someone to knock/vilify/hound, it's the Coventry way of doing things from our home fans in particular - maybe one of the reasons for our lack of success at the Ricoh - please, can we not support our lads good, bad or indifferent whilst they wear the shirt - you know it makes sense

I don't have any problem with constructive criticism of a player on a football forum, as long as when it comes to game day and that the player takes the field, that they give them their full backing.

That would be fair enough, wouldn't it. However, we all know it's not how it's done.

I like the people who abuse players but then act like their lives are ruined when the players say something back. They seem like they should be in a picture in the newspaper with the arms folded.

The very best articles on the Daily Mail are things like 'ANGRY PARENT DIDN'T KNOW CHILD BOUGHT £3M APP' with someone holding up a Nokia 3310 and blaming Apple.

All I know is...we gotta score more than the opposition tomorrow so I'll be there somewhere in block 20 hoping like the rest of us.
