THAT ITV interview Bellamy did ..... (4 Viewers)

I have looked on you tube for it but never found it. Remember sitting in front of the telly half watching the ITV's version of football focus with Bellamy banging on about his new club when suddenly he launched into this extraordinary criticism of Coventry City and I suddenly woke up , wanting to put my foot through the screen.

If anyone has a link I'd appreciate it. I've calmed down sufficiently now, but only just. I can't recall what possessed him to go off on one, whether the interviewer bought the subject up or whether Bellamy just wanted to have a go.

You'll only get angry again ;) it's in his book too I think.

I've always hated him for how dreadful he was during his only season with us. Never a replacement for Keano on a million years although somehow managed to find the net everywhere else he went straight after leaving us which I couldn't quite believe.

One of the main reasons we went down in my opinion.

As much as I think Bellamy is a nob, he has been far more contrite, and mature in recent years abaout his time at the club.

I think in his recent book, he admits he struggled and wasnt good enough, and that he found the fee a bit of a millstone and also got a lot of hassle off people like Paul Williams, who rightly or wrongly thought he was a flash little turd. Yes he was a flash little turd but treating him like shit obviously didnt help his scoring form and we were ultimately relegated.

I am no fan of the odious little turd, but I think there were other issues, including complete immaturity that led to his behaviour and comments at the time, something that with a bit more maturity he now has shown some regret over.

I remember Alan Shearer doing an interview when Bellamy had started finding some form for Newcastle and the best bit about the interview is where he mentions Bellamy's lack of goals at Coventry playing a big part in the reason for our relegation.
Whether that was an intentional comment from Shearer to ground an already big headed upstart or just a general observation, we'll probably never know. Either way, I like to think of it as being a good redress to the crap Bellamy spouted.

Can say what you like about him but he is a very shrewd character.
He has negotiated every contract himself without the need for an agent, not many doing that in the modern game.
Also donates loads of money to charity, still an odiuos little git though.
Yes we did have him at the wrong time, but isn't he the sort of player that the team is crying out for-a nasty little bastard that the opposition hate but would love him on their team ala Wisey?

Trouble is the truth hurts and Bellamy didn't lie

I'm sure he did. Didn't he say Hull City who were in League 2/ Old division 4 were a bigger club than us.

At the time they certainly wasn't, regardless if you would class them bigger than us now, so there for he did lie!

I don't like the guy, but he went onto better things and we didn't.

Jesus, people coming out and saying he was right though!! Not really the point is it. He showed a lack of respect and professionalism and I've never forgiven the egotistical little sh*t and never will.

Absolutely spot on. He may have gone on to better things, he may well have said Hull (though I think it was Norwich) were a bigger club, but that's not the point. He described Coventry, very publically , as a joke of a club.
I recall he continually became injured once we were in danger of being relegated , particularly during the cold winter period, and simply thought himself above it all . He couldn't hack it. A coward and a liability. Bet he bullied kids at school, but got his big mates to do it for him.

Erm, he left in the summer we were relegated so your memory playing tricks on you

Bellamy causes me opposite emotions; on one hand he let CCFC down and stuck boot in; on the other there is a begrudging respect for a guy who operates without an agent and seems to do a lot for charity

My memory is in fact terrible. However, I couldn't give a toss whether he negotiates his own contact or not. If that makes him a nice, clever, independent person it has nowt to do with what he said about our club .

the season we were relegated, mr bellamy went one on one with a keeper 24 times, he didn't score once out of 24, if he had got half of those chances we wouldn't have gone down.

Mark Hateley was no better considering we gave him his debut as a professional footballer...then bogged off to a lower league club Portsmouth saying they were bigger than us at the time. Plus the way he left met we got only £150,000 rather than at least 1 million he was worth at the time.

And I remember him getting a lot of abuse when he came back with QPR.
