So just seeing what peoples thoughts are on burge with last 4 games to go and how he has done in your eyes? Do you think he will do enough or has done enough to secure between the posts for next season. I havent seen any games as with being over here but just wondering what ye think who have seen him from what im gathering he has done well and more game time can get better but would TM risk it if he is here for next season?

I think he will be a good bench sitter next season.

I think he has done enough to warrant a squad place for next season but feel sure that if TM is still here that he will want a more experienced keeper as his number 1.

I think TM if here will bring in an experienced keeper, don't think that's anything against burge in fairness he has grew game by game still makes silly mistakes but cutting them down.
But if we're aiming for play offs then experience between the sticks is needed

See he has got taste for first team action now i wonder how long he will wait tho but yes as said he does seem to be cutting out the mistakes slowly and will get better but take time.

Definitely getting better And better and we should definitely keep him, but I think if we want to be a top 6 side, we need to look for a more experienced keeper.

Given that the likes of Westwood and Murphy had already played 60 plus games in league one at his age I don't think there is much danger of anyone showing any real interest.

He isn't great and is never going to be great. He has average written all over him.

I think he knows that he is not yet the finished article and may be willing to take some time out of the firing line to improve on his weaknesses. That will be the job of TM to convince him. I have a feeling that he will more adept at man management than SP was.

That seems very cruel even for you Grendel. He is very young and will undoubtedly improve. I predict that he will be a very good keeper one day!

Made 2 bloody good saves today start of the second half and world class ones against Bradford and orient. Why not start the guy next season? He has proved himself to me.

I quite like Jamie jones tbf but wernt we shite with alsopp god he was crap.

He is the same age as Alsopp and a similar age to Westwood when we signed him.

He didn't make a world class save - it was straight at him - Alsopp is a better keeper.

Though never seriously brought into question today, I thought he dealt with everything he had to, perfectly.
If he isn't given the nod for keepers jersey next season I think he can probably contend for a number of outfield positions instead.

He still worries me at times. Kicking is getting there but still work to do. Looks shaky at set pieces, but again has improved in areas such as being vocal, and coming for crosses.

If we want to mount a serious promotion push next season however, I think we need to invest in a new number 1.

At the end of the day he is ours. He came through the academy and as such will have more feeling for the club than someone brought in from outside. Having said that he is probably not yet ready for a promotion season (which I hope next season will be) and so to bring in an experienced keeper with Burge as number 2 makes perfect sense. It will up to TM (if still here) to sell the idea to him but I no doubt that he will be able to do that.

He must work on his distribution and he needs to do everything much more quickly he takes far too long over goal kicks when we are drawing or losing and it drives me crazy.

They were good saves today but I would have expected most to have made the saves.

He's only conceded 1 in 4.

Don't get me wrong, with Pennington in there, our defence is strong, but that's still a great record for the keeper.

If Mowbray is still here next season there is no chance he will be first choice.

You are talking your usual crap

Allsop was rubbish ...........you will not be needed by the new scouting team

So in what way was he rubbish? Points per game ratio? Goals per game ratio? What evidence do you supply to make your case?

And that is all down to the keeper ?..........not a problem for defenders you would have surely marked them 9 out of 10 then

He is very young as goalkeepers go. He has definitely improved as this season has progressed and made good saves today.

i wouldn't say he is definitely a first choice keeper just yet, we need a keeper brought in to push him. A sort of Blythe Seeley combination

So the defence was better when Webster was playing then? As he was when Alsopp was keeping goal.

He is getting more confident game by game and doing ok with some superb saves not enough for some

Yes a top experienced keeper would be good

Just who do people think is going to make the step down to the mighty Coventry City just to say they played for us?

He went so long before kicking it out today, I thought it was gong to be the whole game

Made some excellent saves of late BUT flapped at Notts County in the second half . He needs more time but I'm generally hopeful for him.

he can only do what he has to do. The best keepers don't make flying saves every 5 minutes....he is progressing and that is something other players are not doing. So credit where credit is due.

I think have confidence with him and he will mature, the little blip should make him more wiser

Burge is growing in confidence and kept us in the game today with two brilliant saves. I was doubtful but feel confident that he'll do a decent job for the remainder of the season.

Id be happy to see him start next season his going from strength to strength you have 3 options at this level bring in a 40 year old has been, use an average keeper whos 25-30 or bring through a young hungry keeper who you will probably end up losing to a championship team when his contract is up or a bid comes in (like when we took westwood off Carlisle) mighty as well be the latter hasn't exactly done anything to need dropping his keeping clean sheets in a team thats been pissing goals all season imagine what he could do in a positive team next season

Lee Burge will never be a worthy number 1 for this football club irrespective of whatever league we are in.

I would encourage people to look at a montage of the goals he has conceded this season before signing his praises and the clean sheets that he has managed to keep have hardly been down to his sterling performances; more so the poor quality of opposition and the quality of the back four ahead of him. All four were excellent today and Stokes was my MoM.

At the age of 23, he is hardly an up and coming keeper and should be at a level ready to kick on but time and time again he has disappointed me. I would love to eat my words but I just can't see it happening and doubt very much that he will be given a lot of game time next season if Tony Mowbray is still here.

He cannot kick, is beaten regularly at his near post, flaps, fumbles, has no confidence, doesn't command his area and remains on his line for 90% of corners and crosses. I'm sure people's opinion would be a tad different if he hadn't developed through our own academy and had been brought in as a transfer.

Feel free to bump this in 5 years if he's playing in the Champions League, but for me I can't see him progressing higher than League 2/conference as a number 1.

Here we go again, putting down the young academy players who have had to live through several traumatic seasons whilst our owners decide who they next plan to take to court. Personally I think Burge had a 7/10 game today. He did what he is asked to do and kept a clean sheet in ffont of one of the better defensive lineups we have fielded this season. I can fault his kicking as at least twice he put it straight into touch, but I can remember a certain Steve Ogrizovic suffering from a similar problem. This lad WANTS to play for Cov and with time will develop into a half decent keeper in league 1 and possibly the Championship. I would put him above all the other loan keepers we have seen play this season.
keep him at No 1 until the end of the season and if we can pick up an ex premiership oldie for next year then great but don't think we can afford the wages.
