Steady on lads. Lets not forget who we are dealing with here.
All very well to suggest reduction in tickets and good ideas about actually encouraging kids to watch, but lets not forget who we are dealing with here.
SISU will probably tell us that all tickets are half price only to find they have doubled when we go to buy them.
Then they will issue a press release saying they never actually said there would be a reduction and prices have had to be increased to pay for Tims petrol and new underwear for Fanny Adams or whoever she is.

Sorry Tony. How could I forget you are one of the Anndroids. She's a bit of a shit leader then if she doesn't have any influence or say on what happens.

Not her decision though. It's an elected council and all councillors from all parties voted for it. It's not a dictatorship. She's not the boss of a hedge fund.

With regards to the comments and quotes from her. You know how the colonels face is on the front of the bucket? It doesn't mean he's out the back frying your chicken for you.

I'm saying we need to prolong the current deal with a longer term deal and try and improve the access to the incomes available when we play.
'When' we get into the Championship particularly we need to have tied up the rent incremental and again for the PL.
Wasps benefit from us being here so it is good business for them to keep us here and keep us sweet.
One of the sweeteners we currently have from ACL (pre Wasps) is access to some of the incomes we generate.

You may argue that we need more but even Leicester in the Championship only made circa £900K from conferencing and catering (ACL controlled in our case).
They made circa £1.4M from retailing/merchandising, £5.5M from sponsorship/advertising/corporate and £5.8M from Match receipts.
All of these are within our control, but rely on us having a product to sell and in L1 this is severely restricted.

The Championship is not out of our reach in the next couple of seasons and when achieved we need to work hard to get sponsors, fans, advertising and corporate incomes back.
That may give us a chance of staying there.

How much of the £5.5m is made because of the stadium? Stadium naming rights, stand sponsorship, advertising around the ground, sponsorship of corporate areas, etc? So no not all of these are in our control.

You act like we've never had a long term deal/incentive to make this our home and as much revenue as possible before.

I'm starting think that there's one or two on here that gain financially from wasps and us being at the Ricoh......you're not a pub landlord or sell parking do you?

And £900k from conferencing would be about 8% of our turnover in the championship, that's a significant amount of money, clubs wouldn't bother doing it if it wasn't financially beneficial.

To be fair if Sepalla has made money in real estate she's probably done it by not buying crappy social clubs in Cov!

Where as Whetherspoons are a proven failed business model renound for buying failed clubs and pubs?

This is exactly why I said that I'm starting to think you don't understand how elected councils work. She's not Ed Miliband, she's not the PM, she's not even an MP. She the head of a debating group who then vote. She may well be able influence fellow labour councillors but certainly not conservatives. Encase you hadn't noticed there's an election coming and the conservative councillors had an opportunity to make this a political storm for labour but didn't.

I'm not saying it's not worth doing, I'm saying it's a smaller percentage of potential incomes than people are making out.
Advertising should be influenced by CCFC status and this needs to be credited to CCFC

Yes just a shame they don't take over failed football clubs run by hedge funds

Oh, don't get your knickers in a twist Tony. i was only messin' witcha. I know it's nothing to do with her.

"A unanimous decision means that every part of the city has been represented.
“People had different views to start with but after hours of meetings and the chance to ask questions of officers, and Wasps owner Derek Richardson, we felt this was the best deal for taxpayers, football fans, rugby supporters and Coventry as a whole."

Don't get me wrong. As a Coventry fan I think it's a dreadful decision. I just don't think AL is sat in an evil office in an evil council house pressing evil buttons deciding every decision for the elected council. Some on here and maybe some employed by hedge funds (could be any ordinary hedge fund in any ordinary town, city or country) and free papers (could be any ordinary free paper in any ordinary town, city or country) do. Or at least want to make others believe that's how it works.

Nice try but make a political storm out of what? When sisu were the councils approved buyer of the club it was under a Tory led council administration.

I think you'll find its in both parties interests to remain united on this particular issue.

I genuinely meant to highlight the "we" there in her sentence. I know it wasn't just her and I was being facetious. Terrible decision though and one that will cause more long-term damage that SISU. They'll be gone one day.

As for Lucas and the other councillors. I've been Labour all my life and always will be. But, doesn't mean I agree with all their decisions. I hope the people of Coventry throw her out one day.

Led, not exclusively Tory though. There is a difference.

This is exactly why I said that I'm starting to think you don't understand how elected councils work.

There's a certain irony in this statement.

Who makes the decisions on what happens in certain councils in the country ain't the councillors, however much they might like to think it is.

It is, however, worthy of note both main parties have always supported each other regarding ACL. It's impossible for one to make political capital now.

Let me guess, details of what was discussed at that meeting are confidential.

Either way AL isn't the evil emperor and the other councillors aren't her evil henchmen. Which is actually the point I was making.

Indeed - the public were excluded from observing the discussion.

I would like to see a change in attitude from TF. Straight talking instead of riddles. We will not be gifted a stadium by SISU or anyone as a league 1 team. So, the main aim should be promotion. We have the chance of securing a good manager for at least a season. Back him to the hilt. Ask Wasps for a further 2 year option and try and get a netter deal if possible. Drop the P.I.T.S. stadium - it is not feasible for a league 1 team in our uncertain position and up until now we have not found a site in or directly next to Cov. Drop the JR, it only annoys people and distracts from the main aim. When/if we get to the Championship, then look for a solution to the stadium problem. In the meantime do everything and anything to get in the top 6 staight from the start of the season. We need the crowds on match days - our main source of income. Kick in the backside for whoever promotes the image of CCFC and organises merchandising. TF must do something about his image. He doesn't motivate fans and nor does Waggot. They seem nice enough to chat to, but there is no charisma there. The person with the most appeal is Mowbray - get him as much press coverage as possible. Basically CCFC should be seen to be a positive entity - we have so much negative baggage at the moment, which is why SISU should drop the stadium and JR sagas. The stadium problem has to be solved long term, but for now, SISU should be going all out to get the fans on their side - they bring the money in.

I Sit in the Teleghraph Stand always have since first match (season ticket) if they close that I really wont go anymore. If they play good football the people will return. You might as well go to Northampton they have a ground with 3 sides if you like that.

I've been in Nth Stand since the first game (PSL Holder + 3 ST) sit directly behind disabled section so that my young kids didn't get there view blocked + additional leg room for my father who is getting on in years. Very happy with seat/ view. Moved to East/Sth and West stand when JPT games are on to get a different view but not the same for me. When at HR (Take me home) was in East stand in roughly same position from when stand was opened, formally West End. (Yes I like to site behind the goal)

Now, way too many people are trying to shut sections down in the ground in the hope of creating an atmosphere, but what do the team think kicking towards empty stands ???

The best way to get the atmosphere going is to fill the stadium, ie bums on seats, and this is where the club have to go on the offensive and make offers to the fans (ST and matchday) to encourage people to attend, If they play well they will come, so rather than shut vast sections of the ground:

1. All local FA Charter Standard Clubs get 2 kids + 1 adult ST for blocks between Nth/East Stand. (Clubs can use tickets as reward or punishment depending on how we are doing!!)
2. Make an offer to all past ST holders from the last full season at Ricoh that don't go anymore as a one off discount on ST for this next season
3. Seriously look at ways to reduce match prices, more people in the ground the more people will follow them up there (Look at Gilly and Crewe JPT games, people started to say they were going rather than not going and it roller coasted from there)
4. 0% Finance for ST, 1/2 year ST and also 6/8 game packages
5. Reduce matchday/ST prices for all U16's to £40 ST £3-game, they are the future of the club, if they don't start support city by the time they are 16, they will be lost forever.
6. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT - DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT INCREASING ST PRICES

The solution is not to panic and close the ground (if it was Queen of South would have the noisiest ground in scotland with 3/4 of Hamden Park closed) turn the problem on it's head and look at ways of getting people in the ground rather than closing sections off. Make it a place people want to go to again, this season has been a drag, how many people have thought about it and then decided they can't be bother to go to a game.

We have a manager that looks like he could with the right help turn the club round, so rather than be negative, turn the situation into a positive and encourage people to attend to see the rebirth of the club
