The only really undecided factor in the promotion stakes is the third place for auto promotion (and which affects just the one game, Notts vs Preston). The rest of the teams not in the relegation zone have nothing to play for. I think it could be therefore argued that we have the most difficult run-in.

That's working on the assumption that teams just give up when there is 'nothing' to play for, which isn't the case.

Have to disagree. Top 6 teams want to keep winning. It's what they have been doing all season. The last thing they want to do is to go into the play-offs on the back of a couple of defeats to lower placed sides.

Looking at that I would say that Orient clearly have the toughest run in.

Both responses make fair points.

I am tempted by those 40/1 bookies odds though, to hedge my bets :)

We only really need a point from either game now. It's less about gaining points as it is preventing the teams below us from getting any.

Anyone else sort of secretly hoping either Notts County or Orient win tonight?

One of those win and Crewe are back in the bottom 4, which will make Saturday a very much win for them.

As I am convinced we are safe anyway, I think it will make for a more interesting game for us if Crewe have to win. Defeats for Orient and Notts County and a draw will do Crewe just fine and us too. I'd hate to see a boring draw played out on Saturday between us and Crewe.

Give more of an edge I think if they are bottom 4 and a win for us could all but condemn Crewe to the drop if other results then go against them too on Saturday.

I was thinking the same but then again after years of PL dogfights I would prefer if we could avoid any last minuet spanners in the works.

Would just like Saturday's game as exciting as possible.

If Orient and Notts County both lose, you'd have to say a draw will suit both Crewe and the Sky Blues on Saturday.

Just think, nice healthy crowd, need to get a win and show a bit of style about us too.

PNE 2-0 v N County.

A point against Crewe and neither Crewe nor N County could overtake us

You know what I want more than anything else though?

That next year on this forum there is no 'Relegation Thread' to be see all season long.

I'm actually struggling to remember the last time we beat Crewe at home. Heck, with our home form I wish we were playing away on Saturday.

Plenty of our players surely still need to prove they are worth consideration for next season? With the pressure eased I would like to a little more confidence displayed in our football.

Sincerely hope so.

When a draw suits both teams though I worry.

Bayern 5-0 up before half time v Porto (I think Bayern are safe, as long as they don't slip up at home to Colchester )

Could do with a second half winner for Rochdale which would leave us 5 points clear of both Notts County and Orient with after tonight 2 games to go

We could do with a second half onslaught: then a point on Saturday would seal it, GD wise.
