sky blue seats to be replaced (24 Viewers)

Don't try bringing logic into it Otis, it'll never catch on.

Well, I'm soryy, but it is so bleeding obvious.

When we came back to the Ricoh and Wasps said that they wanted to work with us, THAT was the time for Sisu to change tact.

There simply is no argument to be had. If we bought someone elses stadium, would we as owners keep the colour of the seating of the previous club if that club made it patently clear that they were leaving?

That would be a total nonsense. Sisu have gone quiet lately. The next statement out should not be about some fantasy stadium, but of their desire to remain here and work with the new landlord.

We all know, if there was to be a new stadium, it would be way, way in the future, unless there is a new owner and investor to be found.

As it is in the far and distant dim future at best, we need to concentrate on the here and now and the here and now is here, at the Ricoh. Concentrate on that and on getting a winning team on the pitch, instead of talking about something that is never, ever going to happen while they control our club.

Stupid yellow seats and Wasps written everywhere will complete the job of rebranding. Otis is right, SISU either stop talking bullshit and admit after the court cases have been exhausted that they won't be building anything related to CCFC !

I'm sure the regular lot will be here to defend it if it does happen.

Fucking hell, looking forward to the summer holiday off school? Simple fact is we do not own it, have no right to say what colour the sodding seats are. However, how much does it really matter what colour the seats are when half the games we play are on different coloured seats and we seem to do better at those games.

No mate because I'm not at school, nice try to belittle me though.

We also seemed to play better at sixfields as well but that doesn't mean we should go back to Northampton does it though?

Do you not care about history, tradition an heritage? It's attitudes like that which allowed Wimbledon to happen, Sixfields to happen, Wasps at the Ricoh to happen,Vincent Tan and Allam trying to rebrand clubs Cardiff and Hull respectively. Maybe we should just rebrand as Coventry Wasps and play in black and orange hoops, I expect many would be delighted at that.

I think if we rebrand and call ourselves Coventry Wasps and wear orange and black stripes, then we'd be playing rugby wouldn't we?

The point I'm making is that ACL is a separate business and although influenced by Wasps will still be maximising their incomes. Changing the seats would not effect Wasps incomes but could have implications for one of there clients namely CCFC. So why do it?
This Saturday you won't even see the seats.
The laughable thing as you know is that the new stadium will not have sky blue seats. Would be funny if they were considering yellow or black.
ACL is a business and every change by Wasps or CCFC will need to be considered financially and approved.
We are talking about changes that up to now have been denied by Wasps..

How do we know the new stadium won't have sky blue seats? Is that a fact?

And of course changing the seats will improve wasps income, if they time it with the change in stadium sponsorship that will likely include having the sponsors name spelt out in the seats like RICOH is. Plus it's about marketing and the wasps 'brand'.

Are to agreeing that the change in seats will lead to a negative impact on our revenues?

Do you honestly think believe that wasps wouldn't eventually change the seats even if we had a long term lease?

Yes ACL is a separate business and any change by wasps or ccfc would have to approved at board level...,.,and who are the shareholders on the board? Wasps because they 100% own ACL. They will do what is best for wasps. If they are already considering changing the seats that's because it's best for them, Eastwood was very coy about it when asked.

It's funny when people mention the Leicester games as in "you won't even see the seats.....", saw plenty of them last week vs Exeter!

And your last point - wasps have denied a lot, and slowly but surely their promises seem to be slipping. We won't have any effect on ccfc - kicked them out the changing rooms, we won't have fixed clashes as we play Sunday's - we will look to play Saturday's from next season, we want to work in partnership with ccfc - but we will never let them buy into the Ricoh, etc, etc.. They're all the same like politicians, say one thing, do another.

Didn't wasps say this wasn't happening when they first moved?

And it didn't happen when they first moved in purely because it would not have been a priority. But it is their stadium so one would imagine at some point it will happen.

didnt Fisher say when we moved back in we weren't sticking around...which was hardly an example of "we are good at building relationships"

Probably the relationship and trust being built with the council at the time....

I like how Wasps bullshit = There must be a valid reason
Tim Fisher Bullshits = Bullshit wanker, dont believe a word he says

Surely, both full of shit?

We will look even more of a tinpot club then. I presume that you are one of the Wasps fan boys.
Once again we can't have reason and rational thought. As with the old anti-Sisu, pro-ACL, where you had to be one or the other, now you have to have a pro-Wasps stance on anything that seemingly goes against CCFC in relation to the Ricoh.

It's a total and utter nonsense. There are loads and loads of people, like me, who didn't want Wasps here and still don't want Wasps here but realise the reality of the situation we are in and accept we only have the Ricoh and we need to try and work with what we have got, despite it being us between a rock and a hard place.

It, as usual, is an if you're not with me you're against me situation.

Absolute bullshit to suggest our new hypothetical stadium wouldn't have Sky Blue seats, are other colours seats cheaper than sky blue seats or was it something you made up an pulled out of your back side?

that is the nail on the head, this would happening at some point regardless of whether we have a 3 year or 300 year matchday only contract.

Don't think anyone has ever said the seats will ALWAYS stay sky blue, only that Wasps had said they have no intention of changing them.

The only thing in our favour at the moment that might delay it is the sheer cost which I guess would be somewhere North of £350,000. plus Labour to fit them so maybe £400,000

Have to say if the seats were changes that would be it for me at the Ricoh, I'd be fully behind the new stadium. Right now as it is, I'd prefer to stay at the Ricoh if we could get a good deal, if the seats change I don't think I could stay long term no matter what deal the club is offered.

Yep.

I think they will change the seats at some point, but I can't see why it would be a priority now. IF City decide to stay and agree say something like a 10 year rental agreement, then I would expect Wasps to change some of the seating and leave some sky blue in too.

Then if we ever did leave they could replace the rest.

I think that is why people are mentioning the possible JLR naming rights deal which will probably be done soon as the means to cover the cost.

If you don't like it then don't make childish comments (and antagonistic for which we have far too much on here). Otherwise just take it on the chin and try and comeback with something witty, far better than arguing.

As I've said before, should the colour of the seats really get people into such a state when there are far more pressing matters at CCFC than that? And what is my attitude then CCFC, seeing as I care more that there will be a CCFC rather than the colour of seats at a ground we don't own? Besides, was it not discussed that if we built a new stadium then the seats wouldn't be sky blue anyway?

Hypothetically speaking, if by some chance we were actually bought by Wasps and changed the colour of one of our kits but had a home we could actually get all revenues from and actually have a firm footing, would that re-brand be ok, seeing as we have changed the colour of our shirts before through our history.

Personally I always thought it was something they would do within the first 3-5 years. They need to do it because it's all about the brand. They have shown they are as bigger bullshitters as Sisu. But far better at PR. For all the rough and tough of rugby, I can't believe what bunch of weak bellied/weak minded p.....s their fans are, lapping up their bs.

Lol. what a load of tosh.

Wasps hire it off ACL yes. Who owns ACL? Wasps. So wasps have to ask themselves for permission?

It has never been ours, but it was built for us and therefore marketed (skyblue seats ccfc, etc) for us. Wasps own ACL and are now the flagship tenants it's there stadium and they will change the seats (eventually) whether we are here long term or not. Which answers your last point, at some point it will no longer look like our stadium. This is far more than just putting a bit of bling up on matchdays.

Even if we are long term tenants, there is no prospect of buying into ACL (Richardson confirmed this), there is only a limited to how we will benefit, very likely going to be increased rent and less access to matchday income, when the naming rights are renewed we will not benefit 1 penny from it.

Let's not pretend this is down to sisu not agreeing a long term rental deal with wasps/ACL. These changes will happen because it's their stadium, which they will want to be marketed for them, in their quest to become the best team in Europe (whatever cost to ccfc and CRFC).

No, it's because Sisu couldn't agree to buy the thing because of their fucking about.

They won't do both colours, that's a ridiculous notion. It's their stadium, when the seats get changed, it will be their coloured seats.

And i agree with you. When the seats change, that's me done at the Ricoh.

Not being funny here, but if anyone says the will no longer go up if they change the seat colours, but did go to Northampton, isn't that being just a tad hypocritical.

'Yeah, yeah, the Northampton seats were in someone elses stadium and iwe knew t was only temporary' blah di blah!

Hmmmm...........

Changing the sky blue seats here should surely be okay shouldn't it, because isn't the Ricoh only temporary? We are going to have our own stadium.

So people went to Northampton but those seat colours were okay because it wasn't our stadium and was only temporary, but it's not okay at the Ricoh, which is also not our stadium and which is also only temporary?

Sorry, but that's tosh stu and to stop watching your team because of the colour of the seats? Well ..... sorry, but words fail me.

It's still CCFC, we are still the Sky Blues, it is still our team. Not going because they seats are not the right colour is daft beyond words I'm afraid.

I don't have a problem with you saying this as long as you don't have a go at anyone saying they won't get a ST because they have to move seat or similar. Or do you go to look at seats and not the game?

A) we all know that there won't be a new stadium

B) if there was a new one, why wouldn't they put sky blue seats in? Are they more expensive?

I would say they are completely different issues. It's strange that you have even linked the two.

I would happily move if it was to the benefit of the club and atmosphere, but for me staring at empty yellow seats with wasps signs that are 5-6 times bigger than ours will be further be rubbing our noses in it that we're mere squatters to the number 1 club in the city.

But we are still Coventry City. We will still be the Sky Blues and still be playing in sky blue colours.

I don't care if we play in someone's allotment as long it's my team and it's in Coventry.

I am astounded that people wouldn't go and watch the team they love because of the colour of the seats. :(
