So looking at the league table... (5 Viewers)

The fact that there are no breakaway teams yet and the top few are inconsistent. We have done well against some of those too, then I think this will be a very interesting season. I don't believe anyone stands out.
It makes me think we could when it all clicks to together for Thorn, even have an outside chance of a play off place. Why not?
if Cody comes good and a loan or two to strengthen the squad anything is possible. ;)

That's more like it..! How depressing has it been on here lately

I think success this season depends on the way we respond when teams try to stop our movement. That's what happened at Reading, They pushed our fullbacks back which gave us no width moving up the park. There were hardly any of the awesome crosses we saw against Derby. I think that could have been avoided had we gone flat in the midfield. I think, on our day, we've got a competent team at this level and could beat anyone. Once we click and remember where that easy ball is going to be, I think we're away!!

It really depends on where we are around Christmas ,theres the variables ,injuries suspensions etc ,and of course funding ,theres a long time between then and may, investment will be the watchword, as if there is none ,we'll be a player or two down, at this moment we're ok .and could yet click

You sart this thread at least every fortnight, Paxman! I'll repeat what I said before-when you are in the bottom 4 with a solitary win to your name is not the time to be talking about a playoff challenge! Lets take AT's attitude, that this is a work in progress and take it game by game.

I don't mind some optimism, but with such a threadbare squad and the inconsistency of youth, even when things look great the wheels could easily come off. Even from the perspective of someone who thinks SISU might actually grant us a loan signing, surely you can see that we are not realistic promotion challengers?

If Deegan, McSheffrey, Jutkiewicz all stay fit and in form throughout the season I think we'll be lower mid-table. If the Shelvey loan comes through (very doubtful) I reckon top half is possible.

However, it could just as easily go belly up and end up with us in the bottom 3, so I'm not going to start raising my hopes of anything above 21st at this stage.

I don't think we have looked a million miles away from a decent team so far. (Ipswich aside) we have looked competent and in all honesty a last kick of the game penalty and blackpool and palace could so easerly have gone either way!! 5 - 7 points lost when they should have been taken. palace at least a point if im honest. So Paxman i am with you on this. We defo need to start winning games soon though, or it will be a lost opportunity and stop conceding late thats for sure.

Agree with this. But would just say that If Deegan, McSheffrey, Jutkiewicz, Cranie, Clingan, Keogh, Murphy, Bigi, Christie and McDonald all stay fit hroughout the season I think we'll be lower mid-table

Totally agree Paxman :claping hands: We've dropped 7 points that could easily of been ours (3 against palace away, 2 reading home and 2 blackpool home) due to last minute poor defending and a poorly taken penalty. Had we got those points we would have been 8th! If our defending in the last 2 minutes is sorted everything will be looking rosy :D (Im in an optimistic mood)

Paxman further to my earlier post ,i've done the figuers for a playoff berth ,to achieve that with a win ratio of 50%,12 draws ,we can only afford 7 defeats, seems like a negative ,but who knows its a funny old game:D

And then you go and say we will finish above Saints & Seaguls! They will be a good 15-20 points ahead of us!

i dont believe brighton will be!! stone - dropping springs to mind!

The one thing from our season that backs up the OP is we beat Derby; the same Derby who every time I watch them on TV are playing sublime one-touch passing football prompted by the two Davies's and tearing teams to bits..apart from us. So we have something, but lets just calm down. WE'VE ONLY WON ONE GAME!!!

One step at a time. I reckon 90% of City fans would snap yer hand off if you offered them 21st at the end of the season at the moment!

Our next 6 games are against teams in the bottom half, including 2 of the bottom 3 sides. We will know a lot more after these games.

for me, my glass will always be half full, purely & simply because i am a CCFC fan, my continued worry is that our owners will repeatedly take far too many sips to empty the glass,
CCFC need to strengthen the squad, the owners need to be aware, that unfortunately as we are, we do not have a big enough squad to compete in this division, (problem there - no football knowledge or expertise on the board)
CCFC fans still await, both transparency, & a detailed breakdown of either ownership, or exactly what the mythical £30m was spent on,
who was this 1 day wonder who was commercial director ?
i hope damian collins has enough weight to his argument to clarify what is & has been a murky state of affairs since (you know who) arrived,

Nice analogy. A heartfelt post in general, and slightly from the Tankie School of Commas ;)

Anything out of the bottom 3 will be a result, but we are not a bad side, one or two additional players would see us do OK, but nowhere near the top 6. Have faith in AT, but wonder how long is patients will last without any backing from the board

Everyone keeps saying how well we're doing - we have won one match this season - and the addition of a couple of players and we will be fine. Open your eyes, there will be no additions worthy of the name - we have no money and, as admitted today, cannot compete financially for a loanee with footballing superpowers like Barnsley. Come January I forsee Clingan and Cranie departing for nominal fees as they refuse to sign new contracts and if they don't go we will get nothing in the summer, hopefully these will mitigate the need to sell Juke but I wouldn't bet on it. AT is doing a fair job with very limited resources but he appears to be getting frustrated by the lack of backing and the if we hadn't let that goal in or those two in and if that penalty had gone in etc we would be top of the league are just spurious arguments. I am sure every team could look at games and find things that if they had gone for them would have changed results but conveniently forgetting the glaring misses from opposing players, bars hit, penalties not awarded etc. We are where we are because we are not very good - this is a very even league and with the addition of three or four quality players we could compete but its not going to happen under these owners so just prepare yourselves for a long hard and nail biting season and any position above 21st and AT should be awarded the freedom of the City.

Just imagine if we had Marlon king and someone of his quality next to him. We would definitely be up the top of the table, given the way we have been playing. We have performed well but just lacked that special goal scorer. Cody might be him but not for at least another 5 games going on his performances so far.

Just imagine if as punishment Man City really sent Tevez to Coventry along with Adam Johnson and maybe Paul Scholes came out of retirement and joined us for one last hurrah and got his mate Beckham to join in the jolity and japes - if's but's and maybe's won't win us matches or gain us points - we need quality, experienced players and we simply don't have them nor are we going to get them.

Hmmm, TEN games in, ONE win, bottom three, average of less than a goal a game scored, 7 points.

Yep, play-offs here we come. Time to wake up and smell the coffee!!! This team at the mo has relegation written all over it.

Can anyone hand on heart actually come out and say we are in a false position at the moment? We have been around the bottom 3 since the opening day of the season and are where we belong as things stand.

don't dulieud yourself,
he's here for a solo + sisu purpose,
and certainly not for a CCFC purpose,
an income vs expenditure version of his personal time here would make disturbing reading i suggest,
i always want the glass half full but this 'mob' take too many gulps for that to be so,
GO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
