We must change (7 Viewers)

I'm not telling people to forgive SISU, I personally find that hard to do, but unfortunately for our club to move forward they are possibly the only option to take us further. We need a new ground tthat is for certain. I loved Highfield Road but that is a memory. I had a love hate relationship with the Ricoh but our future does not belong there because now we can never own it. As we see with the statue issue, which is tiny, but is in fact big because if we were owners or respected tenants we wouldn't have this kind of issue. NO we need our ground and we as fans must use SISU as they used us. They used us to get their hands our the shares, so we must use them by supporting their desire to build a new stadium. I honestly don't give a feek about SISU. I hope their company go bankrupt in the future BUT if they want to build us a new stadium I will support that idea. So I say we must work with them.

Simon, you seem to be convinced that Sisu intend to build a new stadium. I don't hold that point of view.

I think it was always SISU's intention to own the Ricoh. The way they went about it was disastrous, and it backfired. There's now no chance of them owning the Ricoh. If there was, I'd agree with you. However, I'm not so sure now.

Don't believe it either, someone else would have to pay for it.

Can anybody give me an example of a SISU/ARVO owned company building anything?

I just want to see my club moving forward on sensible lines. I have been waiting for seven years for SISU to do it. I am still hoping they bring Mowbray on board to perhaps at long last start the journey.

I don't think it is about us working with them, I think it is about them working with us and working with the City of Coventry as a whole. I think the fanbase has actually shown incredible patience with them. About time they got onto the front foot!

Think the problem though is Simon, that you have to trust and believe in the owners on the issue of building a new stadium.

I have never had as big a problem with Sisu as others have, though I do despise the decision to take us to Northampton and feel that did the club tremendous damage.

Anyway, putting that aside, would you believe our owners if they said they were actually building a new stadium? They could show me plans and I still wouldn't believe it, they could get planning permission and I still wouldn't believe it. I don't think I would believe it until the very last brick went in.

The reason I don't believe it is because all we have had now for 2 years is words and nothing else.

We already know there are lots of hurdles to cross anyway in terms of applications and planning and objections and there is also the possibility that the ground could well be some distance away.

If there were locations IN Coventry and the council were supportive and Sisu actually showed they meant business, then things might be a bit different, but a lot of bridges have been burned for many fans and they simply do not trust our owners. How long now have they been saying they are going to build a new stadium?

As I say, I don't have the big problem many others do with Sisu, but I do wonder whether they ever seriously wish to build a new stadium. And what's the point of a new stadium if it were to be 10 miles away? That would just mean even less fans going.

Number 1 on the priority list IF they are serious, is that they find a location and let the fans know and ask for the fans views. The fans simply have to be onboard and accept the locality of the new stadium if and when it is finally announced.

I, like many others, would no longer attend if the ground was in Rugby. It has to be as close as possible to Coventry. It just has too. Otherwise it is totally pointless.

No-one is going to believe them while we keep getting these something is going to happen soon messages, followed by long periods of silence.

City fans have always allowed themselves to be walked over as long as I have been supporting, its why SISU were allowed to piss all over us for the last 3 or 4 years and why the sale of ACL to a London sports team went through with barely whimper from the city fans.

Good job we have at least one season left at the Ricoh so don't need to leave just yet.

A guy on facebook posted this earlier. I pretty much agree:

Alot of city fans may refuse to accept or believe this , but our future lies away from the ricoh arena with or without sisu .
As a club we have nothing now , so at some point we need our own stadium , even new owners would agree with this in the long term .
I also believe that as ownership is temporary that coventry city council should help ensure that a new stadium is built within the city of coventry .
Lets be honest wasps dont give a shit about ccfc or cov rugby , its a business and they will say whatever to keep people sweet.
We are like the outcast now in our own city , wasps fans crawling over our statue of our beloved jimmy , fans with memorial bricks plaques etc that will be removed at the go ahead.
In years to come the seats will know doubt be black white and gold and the stadium totally transformed , why should we be apart or want to be apart of that .
In the long term we will move , people can say not under sisu , and thats fine and understandable , but regardless , it will happen with or without them, what a sad state to be in
