To be fair, we weren't "run by a hedgefund" really until 2012. By all accounts Sisu had little idea about us and it seemed to be Igwe and Ranson's pet project. I think it's fairly obvious there was a change of tack when Joy got more involved and brought Fisher in. The direction the club took post-Ranson is very different to pre-Ranson, regardless of whether you agree with one, the other, both or none.

I do find the constant "picking up a random Internet comment made when you were 19 and using it as a stick to beat people with" kind of tiresome and intellectually dishonest TBF. Especially from people who never make a positive prediction, just say things are shit all the time then point to the times they are as proof of some great fortunetelling ability. It's pretty easy to score points as a cynic, not sure it's an indication of your precience though.

Yeah basically, there's a few who for as long as I've been posting online (and that's coming up for 20 years now, damn I feel old) have had the position of "it'll be shit", then jump around with glee when it is. I'm not sure being positive and optimistic is something you want to beat out of your fellow fans. I'd rather go into each season hoping for success and be wrong than live a life of misery just so I can post "told you so" every now and again. Maybe that's just me.

I also find the "But what about this post you made" response the last resort of someone who has lost the argument. Along with "something something something Council/Sisu lover"

We received nothing but loan players and shite. How could we have got less? Now if they would have invested just 10% of what they got for him we would have got something. But they didn't.

Not glee, so much as resignation. I'd rather fight for the conditions to be in place for it to be optimistic. Hell, even Arena 2000 gave cause to be optimistic because at least there was a coherent argument behind it...

I'm not sure that even 100% interest is enough to make investing in this bond a reasonable idea. There are no assets, the club already pretty much insolvent the only reason we haven't gone bust is that the investors took seemingly worthless shares instead of insisting on their money back, bond holders wouldn't do that. I personally thought the wasps bond was too risky for only 6.5% interest but the bond you are jokingly suggesting would be an order of magnitude worse at least. No right minded investor would touch it with a bargepole.

Maybe SISU could let us have a share each and then send someone to our door and ask for it back.

I believe each season we will make top six, and this will be the season of success. Without that hope I would probably give up, and each season I dream it will be that one.

Overly optimistic is the affliction I have but one year it will happen, like one day SISU will be a distant bad memory. I keep hoping!

No I've presented footballing reasons why not.

Last season the club always had wide men to supply forwards. The problem was the midfield was constantly over run and we conceded goals galore.

We used width through petrasso baker and Moussa in advanced midfield. Bakers decline in the second half of the season coupled with Clarke leaving had a negative effect on Wilsons ability to get chances and score goals.

Have you seen any Bournmouth games? It's not just Wilson who scores is it? They play a similar style to we deployed last season but with a far better central midfield.

This season we have deployed zero width and have supplied far fewer chances to the front two and do not have a fulcrum in the middle ole Clarke.

So these are sensible football reasons to support my argument.

Let's see yours.

He was a better player this season in a far far harder league than he was last season. Offcourse some of that is down to him playing as part of a good outfit but it's also down to him maturing well as a player. I don't doubt for a minute he would have tore through midfield's in league one last season and made his own goals. This would not have only taken pressure of our own midfield forcing them to play better it might have given FN the kick up the arse he needed to give it his all. We also wouldn't have had the dross we got from Bournemouth and might have actually been forced to make some decent signings in the closed season.

It was IMO a false profit to let Wilson go for what we got in return for him and I would say the same if Madison went this season. A successful full season (which he seems more than capable of delivering) will surely not only raise his profile but also his price. Even if we took him straight back on loan it would still be a false profit because we'd still had a season out of him but probably ultimately less money from his transfer. I doubt we'd get him for a second seasons loan either if he's looked the class act most expect him to look because his club would send him to a championship club to advance his game the following season.
