There are many people who will not renew based on what they saw last season which was lets face it in the main DIRE,the only way to give these people hope that it will be better this season is start bringing in some players of quality,i am sure this is easier said than done but it remains the only way.

It is a little concerning with what sounds a very tight budget, but the only way they will ever get out of this league is bringing in quality at this level that will enable to club to push on and challenge.

Loans are fine up to a degree but their is always an element of risk with loan players, some work the majority don't as they have no connection to the club.

The only way SISU are going to start turning over a profit is via the playing staff being above average which generates extra revenue through the turnstiles as a winning team will be a catalyst for their business and the fans to be united as one.

I trust TM will be able to use his budget to the maximum through connections established over the years, however from a business perspective we are not adding value to the playing squad meaning it further strengthens the cases of the likes of Maddison / Harries not being at the club very long.

It is a case of wait and see what happens, but right now, it feels we have a far superior manager on our books with the same limited resources.

Superb post, 100% agree! I too will be renewing next week but despite superb prices the product on the pitch last season won't entice part time fans, it was utter garbage on the whole. I think unless a 'marquee' signing (which I don't expect) is announced in the next 3 weeks to get people buying at the early bird price season ticket sales won't be as high as the club anticipate.

But I do think a lot will take up the 6 & 12 match packages.

It's going to be very important to et off to a flier first 10 games to get a buzz about the season,City & Club.

Grendel late in the season away performances were better but scunny rochdale crewe donny notts county oldham were worse than woeful,i know mowbray was not to blame for most of those but until better players are signed no one will believe it will be any different

I'll be renewing at the end of June myself, I cant see us hitting the 6k sales the club are looking for? I think the club not being able to offer the monthly payment scheme has put a good few people off, lads ive spoke to have said they will struggle to renew this season due to no monthly payment facility in place.

I think the fans know theres not a great budget in place, loans arent ideal but then Penno, Samuel and Ward were all superb for us I thought. Hopefully if we start well, fans who have decided not to renew this comign season will take up the option of the match packages which are still a good option.

As a home fan only I wasn't going to renew because left so many games feeling so pi$$ed off poor results awful football etc.. Mogga is clearly a good manager, the right backroom staff infrastructure has been put in place but there needs to be some speculation, we currently have no forwards or any pace in the team and unfortunately this is going to require investment, loans may partially address the issue but a top 6 place is unlikely with players of the ilk of tudguy, they are good squad players but we need top 6 quality. Recognise the budget constraints but its a vicious circle poor quality less sucess lower crowds leading to even worse quality and so it goes on

As was dicussed on a similar thread last week, what 'quality' players are you expecting?

I bet you a pound to a penny, when we do sign players, nearly all of them we will be Googling to see who they are.

Did we think McGoldrick was going to be quality when we got him? Had any of us heard of Dominic Samuel or Grant Ward? Carl Baker?

What we can expect are some Premier loans, but they will be on the periphery and most likely players we won't know. Anyone from any lower division is going to be someone else's cast offs.

What we do have is Tony Mowbray. I think he will be a much, much more progressive manager than Pressley and we will try and play attacking football.

We need to wheel and deal. I think players he will bring in may well turn out to be quality players for us, but I don't think we should be expecting quality in terms of named players, cause I think we will be dissapointed.

He didn't say he wanted big names though did he? He said he wanted quality. We have to give him the benefit of the doubt that by quality he means 'within the context of League 1'.

Well, I know, but let's say we get someone and we need to Google them. Then what? Even if the player did well elsewhere it doesn't mean he is going to do well here.

I think most of us were happy with Danny Pugh weren't we? Also with Simeon Jackson. Happened to us many a time when a player has come in and disappointed. And then in turn, we have had players like DMC who has come in and totally surprised us.

Basically what I am saying is, we almost certainly won't know in many cases until we actually see them play.

Yep, I agree. And given our lack of a scouting network I suspect our hit rate should be below average. On teh other hand, Mowbray's recruitment record at CCFC isn't too shabby so far...

Absolutely 100% correct.

Words will mean jacksh1t unless we are challenging for the play offs from the end of September.

The fans have 'backed' the club and shown unbelievable goodwill, now the owners/manager/players have to deliver.

We can do no more.

Because you can sit back and hit teams on the break..it's an 'easier' way to play.

Trying to dictate play at home needs clever players. Not many of them around in Division 3.

Strange then that the trend of teams becoming more successful away from home includes the Premiership.

I agree with the sentiment of your post but it's not just "part time fans" who won't be tempted to purchase ST's. I'm a full time fan all the way through from the 60's and even at the very good prices on offer for a season ticket there are many of us just like me who are waiting for a sign that something is about to change and that we have at least a chance of being in a position to have something exiting to watch and hopefully a season where we are in the top half of the table.

The only thing that has changed so far is the manager and those he brought in to help him. The budget will be about the same. The difference is he has full control and has experience. He also has contacts with the big clubs. Players might come to us because of who our manager is.

The one big difference I am expecting is he will bring in a lot less players than SP but will be better quality.

He also said he wasn't looking for a bigger budget, just a way of handling it better. So far so good, and I have total faith in TM and believe he willl make the right decisions. This is not a man to let himself down!!!

No your right I was still very much undecided until the prices came out at last seasons price my ST would have been £388 for a full season could I justify that price after what I witnessed last season,no, could I move seats etc, yes, but I wouldn't have I would have watched on from the sidelines going to the odd game, wait for the cheap tickets then if we are looking good jump back aboard & buy a ST. Shouldn't be the way but the dross of last season was like no other IMO.

Hopefully a TM led side, signings &/structure at the club will prove to be a well overdue turning point.

But don't forget "it's Cov innit".......

Season tickets are £249. That is an excellent deal. I just don't quite get this, let's wait until we see who we sign.

We're not in the Premiership. We're not in the Championship. I just don't understand what sort of 'quality' we are expecting.

If you buy into the manager and love the club, then buy a season ticket. That's how I feel.

249 quid is such great value but I think seeing the team we have supported all our lives playing rubbish is so depressing,I just cannot commit to watching that week in week out or I'd be down the Caludon Centre by October.

Well, the playing rubbish has to be in the past tense. It just has to be.

It's so much more than just individual ability on paper, it's about team spirit and belief too. Kenny Dalglish said on 5 Live a couple of weeks back that Blackburn's title winning season was as much down to the dressing room spirit as anything else.

You need decent players for sure, but you need a system that works, with players that can play that system, along with great team spirit and will and desire and belief.

It's an 11 man team, not a team of 11 individuals.

Key areas have to be an experienced keeper, a central midfield engine, type player and a 20 goal a season striker.

When we got DMC we were all berating his goal scoring record, but he would have most certainly got 20 goals for us. Cody McDonald just didn't fit into the way we played, but went back to Gillingham and bagged 18 goals.

So in June an average of 3 transfers a day. Looking at other transfers it has been an average of about 5 a day. So not a great deal of activity although it is starting to pick up. Also you don't know who our targets are and how far down the line we are with them? Maybe we have tried to sign some of the above, who knows? Still too early to panic. The reality is other clubs are after players as well, we can't just pick who we want with players saying oh yes Coventry no contest.

I've already said in my first post the price convinced me to renew, but it's the floating fans that are undecided a couple of signings a bit of CCFC buzz & excitement people do get swept up in little things so 1 signing may make someone who was 50/50 go "you know what I'll get a Season ticket", the longer nothing happens & CCFC website just plods along telling us who the 3rd choice keeper wants in a 5 a side team doesn't get the football juices flowing.

I don't expect thousands of new STH next season a few hundred max so every undecided fan counts.

And I wonder what the reaction would be if we'd signed any of those?

90% would be 'Who?' and that wouldn't inspire those people hanging on for signings before buying their ST. The other 'names' on the list? Leon Clarke and Tom Pope already splitting fan opinion on another thread. Ebanks-Blake - Past it? Colin Doyle? A 30yr old GK with 48 career appearances to his name. A bunch of other preston players not deemed worthy of even trying out in the Championship?

It's so early in the window still and TM has publicly and repeatedly stated he's in no hurry because of the nature of the market these days.
