Good lad, guessing there's an option for a further year?

Guess it works well for both sides. Gives him a chance to prove himself and also will let him see if he gets a chance in the right position!

It stops him being too comfortable, as well as giving him a chance to say I deserve better terms, I'm sure it can be extended if he is delivering.

Cue moaning at the length of the contract...

hes hardly ivor biggun hehe

in all seriousness this lad bleeds sky blue from what i heard from ryton trainign staff. to only sign a 1 year contract is either us not being sold on him completley or hes a money grabbing chav.

time will tell

Well he's 19 and never started a professional game when there's Maddison who's 17 and a key part of the team so I think the contract length is fair

Where is the problem chaps? The lad has loads of potential (apparently) so a one year contract to discover whether that potential is going to result seems about right.

Think they're concerned if he is good he'll be nicked off us. guess that's the risk in this contract.

He's certainly not a chav. I know members of his family, as a lot of fans probably do, his mum is a PE teacher, he's a very intelligent guy and one of the most sincere and politest teenagers I've met in a long time.

From previous experience a quick cure for bleeding sky blue is a big fat contract at another club

Watched him a few times, hard working player keeps things very simple,,played at CB few times but better in CM by the looks of it to me. Desire and athletic ability are definitely his biggest attribute's but if Phillips, Willis and Haynes have all stepped up no reason why he can't.. I also think Harries and Stevenson will be given first team chance's this season, not thrown in every game but to see what stage they are at...

Thought from the title that this thread may be bout a 4AD track featuring Liz Fraser

Went to the same Primary school as him and when he was 8/9 he had the chance to join Manchester United's academy but declined the offer as his family didn't want to move. I would imagine the idea behind a one year deal is so TM can see how he adjusts to first team level and if it's a positive transition then he will be offered a longer deal this time next year. One year does make me think that they aren't certain about his quality just yet.

I know his family and he was treated like shyte by Pressley and after many years breaking his neck working his arse off he was in two minds to sign as his beloved football club did fook all about it.
Good news and hope the lad shines.;)

At least he wasn't bombed. Pressley was a weird guy, making players train up Memorial. We should have know what an absolute plank he was then!
