Apparently a Sunday paper (not sure which one) said he has turned down two other clubs to sign for us.

That's come from that rubbish twitter account. The one that said we'd be signing Proschwitz. They later claimed they meant he'd be signing for someone else not us! Ricketts may well sign but I think these chaps are just firing out as many rumours as possible so when one is right they can claim the credit.

I hope so that's the captain sorted and I would say to Reda thanks a lot but find yourself another club

It is in the People. Says he is to sign a two year deal Im told. Personally I would have given him a one year deal.

If Ricketts is in, especially on a two year contract it's goodbye to Reda. I think that is sad because given his attitude and goal scoring feat he will be missed. Okay he missed half the season, but that means he played for half and we won most of those games. Good luck Reda

Why sad because of his attitude?

Hope he does. Might give Reda a kick up the ass to sign as well. Given that Rickets could be seen as an ideal replacement for him.

Clever move from TM. Reda stalls on contract talks, TM leaks to press his interest in a like for like player and stops talks with Reda. I understand he wants them both and this may actually clinch it...

The poster would be sad to see him go because he feels when he plays Reda has a positive attitude.....that's how I read it.

I think he wants them both rather than an either or situation. Ricketts is a ready made captain with winning experience at his level and above. 2 year contract, his final contract at 33 probably. But he does come with coaching desires and some coaching attributes, which is another string to his bow that the club can utilise.

Hope he does sign today....might start the ball rolling.

Does it take 6 days to sign a contract? Fuck Reda, rather have people who can't wait to play for us rather than some glass back who's waiting for a better pay cheque.

Not sure why the OP needed to write rumour in the title, that's every post on here in the summer isn't it?...

In fairness to Reda, it has said he's desperate to get back to training with us. So thinkhe has said he wwants to be here, who knows how little we may have offered.

lol all the twats turning on reda

You'd rather have people here because they couldn't get a better deal somewhere else? Sounds like just what we need.

If he ums and ahs about a new contract but eventually signs it, I'll be happy that he's signed rather than angry that he didn't do it as soon as it was presented to him. My only real reservation with Johnson is the amount of games he missed, if they're good and professional when playing I don't need a player to be crying sky blue tears or any of that stuff.

I hope Reda stays as were a better side when he plays, but obviously hes well within his rights to test the waters and see what else is presented to him before jumping straight in with a former employer who has only offered a reduced salary, lets be honest, we would all think things over twice if your boss said can you take X amount wage decrease or leave to go elsewhere.

Yep, that's fair enough I'd say.

In truth I'm entirely ambivalent about whether he signs or not. Great player for us when he's fit, but no use when he isn't and has a very poor record in that regard.

I'd be a bit more impressed if he was training with us to get fit whilst it's all sorted out, but I don't think he's that kind of player. On the pitch he gives everything, off the pitch I'm not entirely convinced...

Didn't it just take Lawton 2 or 3 weeks to sign? Different with him though, obviously.

I put the Rumour disclaimer for 2 reasons, one, I like to think if I ever say anything on here it turns out to be true, not something Billy from the pub has made up and 2 if I'd have said it was happening I would have had 100 people asking for "Source" and another 100 today calling me a liar.

Lawton took longer because he was seeking assurances that he would be playing in his preferred position of centre midfielder, and I presume he got those assurances.

yeah i was gonna say this too, i guess lawton gets a pass though because hes a cov lad innit

Big difference when Ivor wanted assurances on playing central midfield, compared to Reda leaving his career to an agent to get him the biggest pay day, don't you think?

not really. stop living in la la land, if there are other clubs interested in reda then it makes sense he would take time to make a decision. maybe a club is offering him more wages sure, but maybe its a location issue or a championship club even in for him? maybe he has a inviting deal to move away from england.

you dont know(just like you didnt know about ivor till today) so stop being a drama queen.

Mowbray wants players fully committed to the cause. Reda has said he is leaving it to his agent to decide, read properly for a change.

Don't most/all footballers leave the negotiation stuff to agents? Isn't that like an agents main job?
