The title of Simon's article suggests that it is the tax payers and community of Coventry is at risk of bearing the burden financiall. Also they risk having their council and potentially parliamentary representatives tied up dealing with this either in person, dealing with emails and calls relating to it or fending off the press. When they have plenty of other things to do to improve the quality of life in the community.

CCFC really should be an integral part of the community, especially being a one club city. They have some good initiatives at grass roots level and players engage well with schools and charities. The fact there is no female football now attached or affiliated is a loss in my mind (regardless of certain people not acknowledging Bedworth as part of the wider community, sorry people from outside of the city, you can no longer support Coventry) and this ongoing legal saga further distances CCFC from the city and community.

CCC and CCFC are like two squabbling school children: "He did this!", "she called me that!"

We need a teacher to come along and yell: "pack it in now!" Putting an end to pointless legal cases. CCC are no angels, however, a history of poor management, pre and post SISU led them to being involved in the stadium. If it wasn't for Richardson...

Fans can go back to supporting the great efforts of the team and to get behind the good initiatives from the club: from the excellent new range of merchandise, resulting from a promising link up with Just Sports, through to TM's approach to scouting, recruitment and demeanour. Local residents can get back to being excited about Wagamama and moaning about the fact there is no John Lewis in the city centre. Grendel can then...stop spouting drivel!

Oh "dealing with calls and emails" poor lambs, must be horrid being accountable to the people that pay your wages.
Perhaps if the Council didn't fancy themselves as property developers doing big deals then they wouldn't need to worry about the repercussions of their actions.

It will be set for a 2 day hearing

Today it was set for 2 hours but they took less than 20 minutes to decide the last judge was wrong in law and THEN went on to spell out the potential claims that could be made. They did not listen in full to SISU's lawyers - minds were made up already

Expect more of the same

Yes fully expected that today
But don't think for a second SISU will win the appeal.
It will be an farce again

Apparently they were "forced" to leave the city of Coventry for Northampton.......Really????

..... and the losses could be in the hundreds of millions evidently when it would have only cost then 2 years rent to stay.
More wasted time, more cost and more fans that won't be arsed as Sisu priorities are clearly not football.

Dealing with emails in relation to these latest developments.

I'm sure there are far more pressing things to deal with. I'll reiterate, the council shouldn't have even had to get involved if our club hadn't been so poorly mismanaged!

Would I rather CCFC owned their own stadium? Yes.

Would I rather CCFC stopped legal action that could have a negative impact on the wider community? Yes.

It appears you would only say "yes" to one of these Andreas!

Precisely.

Imagine how our flowing, tiki-taka football would have been affected if we were playing at Memorial Park!

Bollocks. I would say a City's football club stadium in the hands of an unknown Irish hedge fund/rugby club has a negative impact on the wider community.

ACL is the company managing the Ricoh. The stadium is still owned by CCC.

Eloquent and unbiased. I am sure lots of people in the community, either through the 'entertainment' aspect of attending matches or the local economy being boosted would disagree!

(I don't want to reignite the debate of how long Wasps will be around for, the 'real' value of a busy stadium etc. But the fact is people have been going to matches in numbers and there will have been benefits locally. You obviously have issue with Wasps moving to Coventry and some strange dislike of an Irish owner, but that's a totally different issue! A rather odd one too!)

Please tell - if they own it can they sell it to pay any compensation due?

RE taxpayers missing out:

One of the reasons Sisu has been given permission to appeal is that the council's valuation of ACL was possibly way off.

Sisu's argument is that the loan wasn't commercially viable because it was so much more than the value of ACL.

That would mean the taxpayer didn't lose out in the Wasps deal. It also means Sisu's offer of £2m in 2012 would have been pretty close to the true value.

Arguing that the taxpayer lost out in the Wasps deal would actually be arguing against Sisu's cause.

Of course the argument over value will no doubt be a key point of contention in the appeal hearing.

so when the cet are getting excited over random figures wasps throw them, they aren't true?

If acl was doing as well as the cet make out, the tax payer are losing out for what was paid

Yeah, call me touchy but, I am ever so slightly fucked off that Wasps own my football clubs stadium. Still, can't be as bad as those poor old councillors having to deal with emails.

Why? Do you have to wear special clothes if you did?

Why? Because I was curious to Andreas' standpoint, so I could understand his comments and point of view better.

I believe it's good to try to understand the point of view of others, even if you do not necessarily agree; other people are not worth taking this time for though if they do not conduct themselves in an engaging manner.

Sadly it was never our stadium. It was built for us and we contributed to the clean up of the land but when push come to shove we couldn't afford to complete it without a lot of help.

But we never thought we would have to beg to use the dressing room we wanted.

It really wasn't ever our clubs stadium though! The current owners can impact us and probably will negatively at some point. However the owners (under any regime) didn't do enough to make it our stadium in "law or fact".

I'd much rather local government were dealing with issues of child safety, developing education policy, improving the standard of housing, increasing the quality of life for local residents...these are the emails I'd rather they dealt with, as opposed to (I'll quote you here) "bullocks" perpetuated by the owners of our football club! Their current actions and future ones against Wasps may please a minority who feel 'slighted' over the deal with Wasps, yet they do not benefit the wider community in my opinion.

Did you bollocks fully expect what happened today. Ha ha, my sides!

Don't worry your sides will be healed if you bother your arse to read my post from yesterday. Saying I fully expect SISU to win the appeal today. Then I expect the next stage to be the same outcome.
Then another 2 years of JR2. Whikst we languish in Division 3.
This JR and JR2 are unwinable.

Some people think that's unsinkable too! When was the last time we smashed Nuneaton? (The club, not the place!)
