Ian, that perpetual first post game caller on CWR every match (4 Viewers)

i wouldn't go as far as that. He's a bit of a idiot, yes, but I think calling Ian a prick is a tad harsh.

Speaks more sense than all u prats on this thread!!!!!! Why dont all of you go on the radio and express all of your views? No, well least he has got the balls to do it and says it how it is.

In what possible way is it ballsy to call up a local radio phone-in? Every single time?

'Telling it like it is' incidentally is the catch-all excuse for talking any old crap. You can't disagree, I'm just saying it how it is.

Ian is right about one thing

Ian always brings his one joke into a conversation and that is that we gave Bell a 4 year deal. On this Ian is dead right, a proposterous waste of money. Doing that and giving McPake a new contract is a joke. McPake only knows the treatment table and Bell is a waste of space.

Well this sums it up and the problem is threefold.

1. Why feel the need to phone up every single game week after week after week?

2. Why feel the desperate urge to be the very first caller on after every single game week after week after week?

3. And worst of all, why go on every week and then not offer anything constructive or new and just keep saying the same thing week after week over and over again ad nauseum?

Why on earth would you do that? It's pretty much the same thing week after week. No-one can deny that.

He is also one of these fans who just doesn't like or rate certain players and sometimes will not acknowledge them at all even when they do play well. Sorry, but he just comes across as a whingeing, whining, miserable, droning, boring, sad little man who offers nothing new in his comments and I know I am not alone in saying that.

It's a shame. I'm all for giving everyone a chance and for listening what they have to offer and bring to the table. With Ian I'm afraid there is nothing new and the table is bare.

Ohh, and I have been on myself. Would say about 10 times in total over the years. Does that now qualify me as having the balls? Don't see anyway how it takes balls to be some faceless nonentity who just punches in a contact on his mobile and rings in to a local radio station to offer up an opinion on a football match.

How would you feel if you listened in to a debate show on 5 Live or a debate show or Question Time and the same bleedin guy was on every single time on every show?

Has he not thought that fans may just care to hear someone else's opinion for a change?

Personally i would like to hear a few new voices and their opinion.......... or is it CWR simply dont get enough calls?

Entitled to his opinion is Ian but find very little of it makes good sense or is very constructive. Negativity breeds negativity

Just my opinion. To which I am entitled

I think the callers are mostly right. I mean if they moan its got to be expected we are in the bottom 3 FFS! You cant have it both ways.

When we win people are upbeat and positive (Rare occasions we do win)

When we are shite like every game apart from Derby they are right, whats people's issues? We are relegation fodder time people woke up and stop having a go at the likes of Ian, Neil, Juggy who can all see it.

Give the guys a break, we all have different ideas, opinions.

I agree and it's fairly obvious that the people who CWR select to come on are the same because they are the only ones who bother to make the calls.

Fine, but does he have to have the same idea and same opinion every week? If he's got nothing new to say then why bother?

If you don't like the people who ring in, then ring up and give your opinion - providing you don't swear or insult people then you'll have the chance to say what you think.
Simple really.

i do find myself shouting obscenities at the radio after the games. I have phoned in a couple of years ago and would probably ring up now but i am usually already in the car driving my granddad home after the game. I would turn the radio off but i find shouting at the radio helps take the pain away from the inevitable defeat we've just witnessed!

The reality is (and the reason this topic creates such a response) is that Ian is correct in what he says. I have supported for 35 years and this is the least enthusiastic I have felt for the season ahead.

Uncomfortable truth's are never easy to listen to. The reason he puts it across the way he does is that he gets irritatated when the commentators try to put a positive spin on every situation.

I particularly like the way Juggy always apologises for being completely pissed last time he rang up after a match, then says "but I said it as I saw it". Yeah, through the eyes of someone who is hammered! It's understandable I suppose..going to every away City game without a drink would be a bit like having an operation without anaesthetic.

But why oh why do CWR feel the need to waste 5 minutes of the show REPLAYING CALLS FROM SATURDAY! I know there have been budget cuts, but Jesus it was depressing enough to hear them last time..and the show has already been trimmed to under an hour (40 minutes after taking away news, "Traffic You Can Trust" (my arse!), and bleeding adverts for their crap daytime radio repeated ad infinitum)! And then they follow that with "slash yer wrists" Ian. Or Iain as I am choosing to spell it henceforth.

Sorry about the rant..bit worse for wear, but I'm just telling it as I see (or hear?) it ;)

nay, 'nlhwc', a good & justifiable rant, all we get are apologetic spin presenters, only 'tame' callers allowed, far too many 'traffic nonsense bulletins' far too many ad's for their other dire prog's,
city fans want & deserve a far more detailed and extensive look / chat / investigation / opinions, etc., about our club
hardly ever any detailed news on our academy players, results, reviews, etc

Off-topic, but what a goal by Madine today. Shame SISU wouldn't cough up the extra 50k when we had the chance

Have rang before, but not for a while now. Would just be nice to get a few differing opinions instead of the same ones every week.

Bit of pot, kettle and black I say. OK, maybe not on the radio but we get the same comments all the time on here by the same people. Lose and we are going down, AT is not good enough and the Kids are getting burned out. Squad is too small and SISU out although we have no alternative. Draw and we are going to finish mid table Couple of loan midfielders and we have hope this season. Win and.....can anyone remember what is said when we win?

Clive: So Ian, a brilliant 10-0 victory over a full-strength Manchester United at the Ricoh. We made them look very ordinary, didn't we? Those three consecutive penalty saves from Murphy is surely some kind of record?
Ian: Well, Clive. I'm not so sure. I thought Murphy was poor again. He needs to command his box more and I was disappointed that he failed to hold that shot from Rooney. As for the rest of the team. We're only heading in one direction and that's down. We have poor players throughout the team. Cody McDonald again showed he isn't good enough. Fair play to him, he took his fifth goal well, but I really don't think we have the strength in depth to achieve anything with this squad....

Yeah, I really like him. I remember though that game we played on a Sunday on tele (was it Scunthorpe, can't remember) and he came on and missed a great chance. He was on a hiding to nothing from then. The usual "he ain't good enough" calls.

There weren't many who were sorry to see him go. Me and my Dad were. You too, by the sounds of it.

BTW, Danny Thomas was just in here.

Me too. I knew he was raw, but was thinking we needed to give him time.

Something we really need to remember with so many youngsters in the side. Sometimes we need to have a little faith in the managers and coaches who work with them all week and see their potential. I'm thinking about Hussey in particular.

It's a different level entirely, but Danny Wellbeck was always a hyped youngster who I thought was massively over-rated. Lots of Man U 606 callers felt the same-"not good enough for our club". Look at him now-in the side ahead of Hernandez and Berbatov on merit. Heh, Fergie knew what he was doing.

Clive - Now as news emerges that Messi has been snapped up by the SISU owned Sky Blues we have an expert on the line to give his opinion. It's Ian with his chipper opinions on evetrything football related. Welcome Ian.

Ian - Doesn't really give much hope does it? What do you think Clive?

Clive - I think this is the beginning of an exciting era, and signing Messi speaks for himself.

Ian - You and everyone are pricks Clive. Messi may have performed at a decent level ABROAD with all of those sissy frogs and smelly Spaniards. BUT how the hell do you think he's going to do against Souleymane Bamba on a big Monday night derby game against Leicester?

Clive - Are you a fu... (Ian cuts in)

Ian - LET ME FINISH. The board are knobs. They've given me the manager I wanted and now signed a so called "world class" player. But the thing is, I don't need the team to be playing well to stop me moaning. Or the club to get promoted. Or anything to do with football.

Clive - What is it you need then Ian?

Ian - I really am just trying to buck up the courage to ask you out on a date. Maybe we could sit together at a game and you could help me lighten up?

Clive - You are a moron. Goodbye.

I know Ian and he is a loyal supporter who goes home and away. Yes sometimes he does sound far too negative but he makes good points. What actually have we had to cheer about past couple of years?
