Does anybody on here do it? Looks like good fun, I wonder if there are any nasty tackles or anything?

I don't do it, but I'm nearly of the age.

I reckon it would be competitive, older people are the worst for it!

Looking at the picture, maybe I have a few more years yet.

It's a good idea though. Even if theres a random guy in the background just walking across the pitch.

My dad's best mate plays it. Billy Bell got him into it after he'd had a few Guinness in the casino.

Seems pretty laid back though, he said they stop for a cup of tea and biscuits!

Give me ten years and I'll be up for it.

We have had many players in the first team squad over the years who stuck to the rules of walking football, none currently playing though I once watched Fleck have a dam good try, but the only player currently playing I can think of is Mario Balotelli.
to answer your question Nick,I don't

Being around that kind of age, I know a few lads who do it. Some, like me, are still playing five-a-side as well as walking football. You need to be over 50 for most of the games I've heard of, and I'm told the standard is pretty reasonable, and it can be fairly competitive without being daft.

Certainly the chaps I know who play were decent players in their own right, and from a level beyond that at which I've played (e.g Cov Sporting, Folly Lane, those kind of teams). They play two-touch, so there's still an emphasis on controlling the ball and a bit of skill involved. On that basis alone I'd struggle, but in every other sense I've been preparing for walking football for my whole career. ;)

Well I'm in mid fifties but I don't play it. Currently helping to run an u13 team. Like to think I've still got it but these kids show me up for pace. Perhaps I will give it a go in a few years

No mention of tea or biscuits, I'm out.

Unfortunately my knees wouldn't even get me through this.

I know the feeling mate, but I bet you're still quicker than me. I reckon you should give it a whirl. It's not the playing that really hurts me these days, it's the day(s) after...
