The City defender has also praised the two new signings and backed Mowbray to bring in more quality players...
Coventry City defender Reda Johnson has admitted without manager Tony Mowbray, he probably wouldn't have signed a new one-year deal.

The City centre-back signed a one-year deal with the Sky Blues on Friday after a strong finish to the 2014/15 season.

Johnson made 20 appearances during the season, scoring six goals, including the last five games which helped City secure their League One status.

On signing the new deal, Johnson said he is proud to be at City but expressed loyalty to City boss Mowbray.

Mowbray said: "I'm very proud and very happy to sign a one-year deal at the club. The manager played a huge part in me signing for the club.

"He's got a plan for the future of the club and how he wants to bring the club forward, and I want to be part of this plan.

"I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for Tony Mowbray. I'm here because I want to go up next season and have success with the club.

"Last season was a nightmare but with him in charge, I believe the club can only go forward."

The Sky Blues enjoyed a productive week as Sam Ricketts and Romain Vincelot both signed on at Ryton training ground.

Johnson admitted he was impressed with the quality of the signings as the City boss switches his attention to add more striking options.

He added: "Sam Ricketts is a quality signing who I know from playing against him really well. He'll be very important for the team.

"I see him as a senior player who can come and help the young players, but also has a lot of experience who will help us keep the goals out.

"Also, about my friend Romain. It is good to me as I have someone here I speak with in my native language. But, importantly, he knows the game.

"He's played in the Championship and League One and has done really well at this level before. With these two signings, I was really confident signing up.

"I'm sure he isn't finished as well."

Is he talking about our league position and his bad luck with injuries or is actually the direct jab at Steven Pressley that I'm reading it as?
