hes scum who dont care about ccfc!!!!!!!!

and the cycle continues

I'm not convinced many professional footballers care for the clubs they play for. They are concerned with the money on offer and the lucky few with getting trophies and money. Many are 'professional' enough to give 100% week in week out but they would do that whichever club employed them

Looks alright, who knows how he'll do on a pitch against other players though.

I asked if he was any good!

Hey mate i spoke to Kieran on the sky blue wall during the Nuneaton game and he said that Spence was offered a contract the same time as the rest of the youth players but he has not signed yet, seems to be dragging his feet. I also asked on here if he was any good and the consensus was that he is ok nothing special. Saying that though i read an article about him when the contracts were offered and the coaching staff where raving about him, but i guess they would as he has just been offered a long term deal.

Just picked up a nippett on the radio saying ex-Crystal Palace player offered a 2 year contract so as i have never seen him i wondered if he was any good. Don't even know what position he is but reading his profile looks like a winger or to use the modern terminology a wide midfielder.

CET article on the subject;

Coventry City Academy winger Kyle Spence appears to be weighing up his options after stalling on a new deal with the Sky Blues.

The 18-year-old is the last remaining Academy graduate not to commit himself to the club after being offered professional contracts at the Ricoh Arena at the end of last season.

A former Scotland Under-16 international, Spence left Crystal Palace last summer to join City as a second-year scholar despite reported interest from Aston Villa and Celtic.

He made his City debut in the 1-0 Johnstone’s Paint Trophy victory at Wycombe Wanderers as a 80th-minute substitute last term under Steven Pressley, but new boss Tony Mowbray admitted: “He’s a young boy I haven’t seen a great deal of, maybe once at the training ground and once in an Under-21 game.

“I thought he could pick the ball up and travel with it OK but I haven’t really got involved and it’s not really my remit at the moment.

“The boy is more than within his rights not to sign the contract or whatever he’s doing. If he’s looking elsewhere we have the compensation rights so if he signs somewhere else then so be it. I am not sitting here overly concerned about it.

“We can’t force him to sign a contract, we can only offer him one.”

Not really sure what to read into that. Mowbray is either not too fussed if he stays or goes, or feels the player isn't the committed type and probably doesn't want that negativity around his squad.

Yes SW88 it looks to me as if TM hopes someone else picks him up. In fact it appears TM is frustrated/annoyed that the lad is still around.

"Compensation rights" how much could that be ? Notice the lad is a London boy so may have been tapped by a club that way

A few people were speculating on Facebook that he's homesick so that could be the reason he's stalling on the contract offer. I know London isn't too far away but sometimes moving just a few miles can have a negative effect on a young lad. If he wants to have a professional career he better get used to moving around a lot

Wonder if he'd get home sick if he was offered a deal by a big club further North (one of the Manchesters, Liverpool etc) or even abroad. Not saying he's that good but just using as an example as I bet homesickness wouldn't come into it then if that was to happen for any player

You are probably right but I guess we'll never know for sure

Loads of clubs around that area from apart from the cockney clubs theres Luton to Stevenage to Southend to Gillingham to Wycombe and others, none actually in London but in that neck of the woods. If i was him i would stay with Mowbray but if he is homesick cash in.

Even if he signed for another Midlands club, that would suggest it was home sickness and he (or most likely his 'advisors') probably thinks he's better than this level. If he is, I wish him well. If he's not and he's just being ill advised, we shouldn't be sad to see him go.

taking mick out of the idiots who hated on reda just a week ago

I don't think people minded that he delayed signing. I think it was with his fitness record people were disappointed he wasn't at training while he sorted things out.

Offered a contract Anygood ?

Not in my opinion, occasional moment of brilliance but not often enough and seems lazy off the ball too. In his defence though, he's still young and can only improve. Sounds like TM isn't bothered about keeping him anyway. The majority of young boys want to be professional footballers and would snap your hand off for a contract so can't see why this lad is stalling for so long. Wrong attitude perhaps

Looks to me like he's giving someone, who has grown far too big for their boots, a bit of a slap-down.

Message: get real...you are not as good as Lionel Messi yet...& if your attitude stays the same - you never will be.

...onwards & upwards PUSB

That could've been a TM stance. If you aren't fully committed - stay away until you are, or piss-off!

Maybe he just wants to move somewhere closer to home? If he does, and there are teams out there interested in him who can offer him that, then I wouldn't blame him for it.

Fans forget that football players are people too and that this guy is an 18-year old kid.

I think in the end TM gave him a deadline.

Is it just they have to leave the contract offer open to keep the compo offer in place or he becomes a free agent, this looks like an agent trying manoeuvre a player into a new club and costing the club nothing. He is also now a couple of weeks behind the rest of the group in pre season.
