Nope, if there are people going up regularly or as and when they can then fair play to them.
If their last game was Crewe, Chelsea or Gillingham then that's what i mean.
We need people up there to get behind the team for the other games too! Not just when there's a bandwagon.
So it seems clear to me now. You either have to go to evey home game (makes you a fan), or not go at all (not, or no longer a fan).
On this basis, I will assume that there will no longer be any match threads - because if don't go, you are not a fan, so the threads become redundant.
I can't get to every game, so I shall apply the simpleton rationale and not go at all. I had better get shot of all those prgrammes and old shirts for that club I no longer support!

Ok Seven Trent please can you remove the bandwagon chemical from the water. That makes Coventry City fans different to all other fans. Stop us from been particularly bandwagonish.
Sorry Nick Cov fans are the same as any club.
You have your hardcore who will attend not matter what and you have the potential for so many more fans when the club is ran well and success follows.
Sometimes you get loads if fans when the club is ran badly but somehow success still happens.
It's the life of the football fan.
Coventry is no worse than any other club

I am not sure where I said every home game.
I said if you go up regularly or as and when you can. ie if you have to work, have kids, family commitments, live miles away but try and get up if you have a free weekend here or there.

That's really up to them isn't it. I've got a mate who's from Coventry, is a fan and made a grand total of one game last season. A cold winter midweek fixture. Does that make him a cold winter midweek band jumper? It was an awful game and we lost too. Does that make him a gory boy?

That's the problem - we have too many "fans" like him - nothing a JPT area final wouldn't sort out I'm sure.

There's the other side of the coin. Take the Gillingham game as an example. It was a great occasion for many reasons but the fact that so many did "jump on the band wagon" added to the occasion as it made for a great atmosphere that improved everyone's experience. Perhaps people should be thanking these occasionally visitors rather than slagging them off. It doesn't matter what league we're in or how successful we are in that league we're never going to have every home game as a Gillingham, Chelsea or Crewe experience.
It's about time some posters grew up and accepted that so than can appreciate the experience when it does happen. Because going by some of the posts on here it's very easy to imagine them sitting sulking all the way through the bigger games because their only concern is that there are people there who only turn up for the big occasions. Pretty pathetic really. If anything I feel sorry for them.

My issue is the people who act outraged and hard done by by the club whenever they can, demanding the club be brought home because it is ruining their lives etc. We are back in Coventry, so get back up there then if it hurt people that much when we weren't here. I think a lot of it is just down to people wanting something to be outraged about.
Why does somebody who only goes up when it is an occasion feel outraged about things? It is like me moaning that restaurant has started using Caged Eggs and non local meat and that it is ruining my life because I went there for a birthday meal in 1998.
Yes, it is all well and good having big crowds for occasions but we need them as regularly as possible don't we? It's no use people sitting at home whinging about investment when they can't be bothered themselves is it?
I don't think a change of owners will make much difference, I always thought being a fan was through thick and thin. By that I don't mean spending life savings on watching them play a pre season friendly in Australia, I mean going up when it's convenient.

And our average gate increased 5 fold when we moved back from northampton so i guess there are around at least 8000 or more people who were outraged and hard done by by the club who do get back up there. Thats not an insignificant number by any stretch of the imagination
The irony of someone saying "I think a lot of it is just down to people wanting something to be outraged about" while beng outraged themselves about people who go to the big games is clearly lost on you.
Of course we need the big crowds more often but people need more than dier football, crap owners and no glimmer of hope for that to happen. The queue for a kick in the balls is always short so i don't know why you're so suprised by this.
I believe things are changing at the club for the better at the moment thanks to the TM factor and I hope this has a positive effect on attendances but this is the first time in a long time so I'm not expecting any overnight miracle.
To say a change of owners won'tmake any dfference is frankly burrying your head in the sand. Might not be huge, we may only be talking about a few hundred to possibly a couple of thousand but it all helps.

Your telling me you know people who weren't outraged? Everyone I know were royally pissed off with it. Look at the attendances from 2007 to now. I think it's safe to say sisu have lost is 10,000 fans during their tenure. If sisu fucked off today, the Gate will increase no doubt.

I'm not being outraged, you won't catch me writing to the telegraph or making a petition about it. It is just pointing it out.
If SISU went, would the attendance be much more on the third game after they went? (The First would get a boost).
The club (not SISU, I mean the players and manager) need the fans every game possible and probably even more if we are on a bad streak don't they?

If you're not outraged why do you keep wittering on about it? I'm not just talking about this thread either, it's a gripe of your's which regulary turn's up in other threads. To be fair it's not normally you who brings it up but you always jump on te bangwagon when the likes of Grendull or Andrea bring it up. I guess bandwagon jumping is just a trait of CCFC fans afterall, just that you display it in a different way to others.

Lol good one stu but seriously all it needs is some upturn in performances and league success and gates will increase. Look at the season 2009-2010. Leeds at home October time, we were top 6 and had over 26,000 there, helped by 4k Leeds but when the team is doing well the attendances show that. We've lost half our fan base since that day and it's only 5 years ago. People voting with there feet, I've had season ticket for all those seasons (bar sixfields) and you have to admit the football (apart from robins) has been shocking

I am replying to the likes of you and Dongle who keep going on about how great our fans are and how we should applaud them for coming to a game because theres a sniff of Wembley. I am just waiting for a mention of Bradford season tickets.

But the difference with that Leeds game was also the media coverage too wasn't it and the fact Leeds were bringing so many.

The only comparable situation I can think of is Brighton. Just had a quick look and on their return they seem to have had a pretty steady attendance so no big drop off like we experienced.
The question for me is why did all those who attend Gillingham not go to the next game? It was a great night and we won so its not like we can use the bottled it on a big occasion excuse. Why did so many of those in attendance think it wasn't worth bothering again?

Yep. And the games either side were pretty poor attendances despite being in the top six for the first half of the season. The Leeds games was an anomaly.

Last seasons average attendance was 9,332 (that includes the opening games at Sixfields but Gillingham probably cancels that out), the season before we moved to Northampton was 10,906 so in reality the attendances haven't changed that much.
The question is how do we get the other 20K who turn up for games like Gillingham and the JPT final to turn up more often. The usual answer is that when we have big crowds we perform poorly and lose however that wasn't the case with Gillingham so what caused so many people to walk away after one game?
Fair enough nobody would expect the same attendance but I would have expected 15K plus, where were they and are they the ones who are calling CWR and complaining to the CT about everything the club does and lack of investment when they can't be bothered to turn up?

How do you know they never bothered again? Ten of us went that night and at some point in the season all of us bar one went back at least once in the season. My guess is that most of any clubs fans are casual and make the effort for big games otherwise the only tickets that get sold would be season tickets.

Would be interesting to know how many people supported other teams too? I know a fair few Man Utd fans, Liverpool, Newcastle who went to the Crewe game because they wanted a day out at Wembley.
