So if we signed Charlie Austin tomorrow the OP wouldn't be happy because his team got relegated? Come off it mate...

Very wise words Otis but I think we all know what the chap is getting at; do we not? The fact is we seem to be heading for another season of failure and until a signing excites no more ST's will be sold. It is all very well for the likes of Grendel to throw insults about but until those signings are made we will be no further forward.

But what is an exciting signing? Someone who we have to Google to find out who the hell they are?

Another season of failure??? Are you a clairvoyant? The season hasn't even started and you have written it off....jeez

So the barometer of expectation is competing on a signing front with a club that has £60 million of Premier League funds?

Where did I say that? I simply said that fans are looking to exciting signings before parting with their money and so far nothing has done that. Remind me again
how many ST's have we sold?

It would be amusing if Wilson stays at Bournmouth and they as expected get relegated.

Imagine if OP's fury if we then re-signed him.

How many other clubs have made exciting signings?

To be fair mate that's nothing do with exciting signings, more of a feeling that we'll do absolutely nothing in this league again and still be here next year. There's only so much shit a supporter can take and it seems that was breached a few years back and continuing now.

Has there ever been a season with CCFC in Champ and L1 where we all thought we'll give it a good go this season? Not any I can remember. There's a negative feel at this club within supporters and that won't change until TM/another manager changes the losing mentality at the club.

What do you base heading for another season of failure on? I for one am optimistic for the upcoming season.

Exciting players are one thing, I would say a decent core to the team is more important in this league. We have a decent core so I reckon a few will be surprised this season. I for one am quietly confident and looking forward to seeing this team.

And As if signing Jacobs would excite the fans into buying ST's.......what we need is a striker that's played in the premier league, someone most people have heard of....Simeon Jackson anyone?!

yes SISU have been crap, but so were the owners before that and the owners before that. We are broke and are being run on a shoestring. But still certain fans think we can just go out and buy who we want. Not only that but if we enquire about a player they will instantly choose us.

The reality is we can no longer compete financially with Swansea, Doncaster and Wigan. We would probably struggle to compete with the likes of Oldham, Rotherham and Port Vale. No promotion isn't a given even wih Mowbrey.

you either are a Sky Blue through and through or you are not. They are playing back in Coventry which is what we wanted....so get behind the lads in the squad.

Its all about expectation of the fan which is sadly fueled by rhetoric coming out of the club, they have misdirected fans into thinking we are in the middle of a sea change when in reality the club has gone backwards over the past 8 years.. So frustration again is starting to appear not only from the fans but TM, he knew what he was getting into but not sure he thought getting players in he wanted would be so hard..

The OP is stating his opinion of the transfers so far,,will it change?? who knows,, does he have a point ,, i think so but then again i didn't expect to see masses of players or high quality walking through our door anyways.. Time has taught me this with the owners, it really is a shame they are more interested in trying to impress judges and building court cases than they are our club and team, but again we all know what they are interested in even if they paint a different picture, or at least some do...

The halving of attendances is why we have a limited budget. I agree with that.

But why is that? Answer is, year after year of failure and on top of that, many fans sick of the shit sisu put the club through..

As for signings. Last year on here the posters were jumping with joy with Jackson, o'brien, nouble, Tudgay, Pugh and co. All so called proven players but proved fuck all to us. Let's not pre judge players till we see them in a sky blue shirt

I remember when some really knowledgeable posters on here said how that useless plonker from Villa was a good signing from the PL.............

If we can get a striker or 2 on loans and they get us promoted then we have a realistic chance of attracting maybe a higher calibre striker for next year assuming the 'loan' strikers do not stay

So they never moved us away or got us relegated fuckin telegraph telling lies again?
I knew we were still in the championship.

Mowbray comes in, 2 months before the end of last season, keeps us up and signs for 2 years. Releases a deadwood list that no-one sane could have any arguments with. Then goes and shores up the defence, buys (with real money) the defensive midfielder we've been crying out for for several years and brings in experience to balance the exciting youth coming through while being open and honest the whole time about how hard it is to get decent strikers in and that we have to be patient for the trickle down effect of PL squad announcements etc. All this after performing near miracles with a squad we all thought was destined for certain relegation.

But no, not enough for some of our fans - despite the plentiful reasons to be optimistic and get behind the best manager we've had for years on the first year of his 2 year rebuilding project, we're not committing to Mowbray because SISU haven't let him sign that shiney exciting household name striker yet for more money than Wigan can afford.

And if we do get some loan striker in, and he doesn't score 3 in his first game wearing winklepickers instead of boots and having glittery tits, diametrically opposite mechanically rotating nipple tassles and a sparkler in his arse then I'm gonna boo the radio which I'll listen to the match on. Boo. Booooo. BOOOOOOOOOO

See another so called target Jacobs gone to Wigan...

Feeling not very positive same old shite from the Club. Mowbray says he don't really want loans when he signed today he says we can only get loans... No money available again... Signings not really anything to get excited about

Ricketts - 33 years old
Johnson - Very Injury prone
Stokes - Non League
Lawton - Not ready
Vincelot - Relegated last year
Tudgay - Not Good Enough

This is the third tier of English football and we are a club which is run by owners who don't give a toss, so what do you expect?

Stick to playing on your Xbox and signing players for Barcelona.

Here's a thought...as the season hasn't started yet, why not get behind the manager and players? Ok, if we are struggling as the season goes on, then have a pop, but to do it now shows you up to be a bit of a tw8t IMO.

I genuinely don't understand what people are expecting from us as a club (regardless of owners). It baffles me.

Yes I'd like an extra striker right now but I'm relatively happy with how our pre season business has gone so far.

The scattergun approach to bringing in players at this level is such a lottery and a lottery that has more often than not failed us.

Out of the players that have left, would you have genuinely kept any bar 1 or 2 of the loanees?

I often wonder why some people are football fans or follow a club when all they do is seemingly moan at every opportunity.

I'm not saying everything is rosy but a touch of realism about where we are as a club and you'll realise there is a lot more to be positive about than the last couple of years, especially when you accept our current predicament.

Not just about recruitment it's about getting the mix right, new players, loans and youth AND the manager getting them to play, I believe we have that this season we didn't last imo We have at least 2 youth who should make their mark this season maybe more Mowbray thrives on getting the best out of youth players And in Lamiras I think might have a surprise nugget. So have faith

I'm quite happy with the way TM is building the team. For a club in its worst position for decades (on and off pitch) TM is beginning to build an attractive football side. Yes the names aren't household names but they do have quality. Yes they are young and may get bullied off the ball in this league but they will I'm sure take the club in the right direction. Anyone who thought we would get automatic promotion this season
