If we had been convincingly dominated by Pompey, Luton, Cambridge and Oxford then I might be a little worried. So far we have competed against teams that aren't that far off League 1 standard sides in all reality. The friendlies just can't replicate competitive football for a multitude of reasons. Add to this the fact that the transfer window is still open for another month and at no point has TM stated we are finished signing wise. We are by no means the finished article at this stage - very much competitive in comparison to the majority of teams in the league - but that doesn't mean we are doomed to another season of being relegation fodder.

No good dominating possession but creating very little with it. It's back to the Pressley days, not slating Mowbray but we desperately need to find some penetration, the season starts next week.

Well its pretty clear where we're lacking but thankfully we now have a manager who acknowledges that rather than constantly saying everything is fantastic. Hopefully he can get someone in before next Saturday.

I find your Avatar amusing. It's Janet Leigh emerging from the shower to see Andy Thorn is back as manager of ccfc.

Not as bad as that.....she gets murdered.

Is it? The Pressley days being those in which he didn't have a clear footballing philosophy. We need more attacking options of course, I think everyone realises this.

Friendly logic:

This City team: CITY XI: Hart, Sagna, Kompany (C), Mangala, Kolarov, Evans, Nasri, Silva, Navas, Bony, Sterling #cityontour #mcfc

are 4-0 down to Stuttgart...

...at half time.

Not being bi polar but Pressley also recognised we were lacking in penetration

I have not seen any of the pre season games but going a bit from last year Fleck is a big problem, the other players are carrying him while he holds hands with the centre backs it is like playing with ten at times, he reminds me of sideways Sammy.

Result are not any indication in reality of how a teams season will go,, the games are to provide knowledge for the manager fitness, form and team shape for the players.. However winning games within the schedule helps bring confidence within any team and help players believe in what is being asked by the management is working,, TM needs at least 4 new players in over the next 2 weeks, as he knows we lack depth in more than a few areas of the pitch, you put injuries and suspensions in this squad and we would struggle to compete.

Lets see what time brings, TM will have a plan to make the team stronger and finish higher than we did last year. Lets just see where that is and take any improvement as a good thing and the first step to turning the club round....

God that was awful. Left 10 minutes before the end. I'm sorry but I'm with slowerthanplatt all day long. We are no means ready and we lack in the biggest areas. We won't score any goals until we sign some quality forwards. The trouble is now of course they won't have time to bed in.

If anyone thinks we will give Wigan a game next week. No chance. Not saying the seasons over but we are not going to do anything August.

Before anyone critiques me I went today and my opinion is based on what I saw and I saw a team hit the post twice and hit the bar and then miss a penalty oh and dominate possession against a small toothless Coventry side.

48 years ago i am certain we didn't win any of our pre-season matches including Dudley Town away which we drew 2-2, i know that because half a dozen of us went on our push bikes, took a bloody week to get over it.
We went on to win the championship and get into the top flight.
