If you have to be proven at any level before being given a chance, no-one progresses, ever, in any field of sport or work.

But how many of these players have already played in league 1? The majority and they are just not good enough. Look at wilson he left and progressed as we knew he would but he looked a class act for us. We haven't got anyone close to that. Maddison could be too much pressure on literally small shoulders

JOB, Swanson, Tudgay, Vincelot.... just for starters

From last season alone Swanson proven? Very questionable
JOB proven? Works hard but wouldn't say he set the world alight for us
Vincelot - relegated with orient so that's questionable and Tudgay maybe 4 years ago but now?

You say for starters who else? Face it, we haven't got enough quality in a squad which shows by our league position last year. We will need vast improvement which I haven't seen so far. Too many fans judgement is clouded by TM appointment. He's not a miracle worker

Swanson played for Peterborough for 2 years in the championship and league 1.

Vincelot was one of Orients best player the year they finished in the play offs, in fact his injury last season where he missed the last two months of the season is recognised by Orient fans as one of the major reasons why they were relegated.

O'Brien done ok last year, I'm not a massive fan of his but he was probably our best player last year excluding loans. He's decent at this level, not top class but above average.

JOB and Swanson have done well with other clubs at this level, Tudgay's record is very good, O's were relegated when Vincelot was out injured. All these players should be good enough, with the right manager and in the right system.

I would love to be wrong but we will be battling relegation this year again. Say what you want but there is no proof otherwise.

We have a squad the same as last year and no massive exciting new players so it's quite obvious TM job is to keep us up this season. I would take it now if you offered me staying up.

Would anyone else?

The season hasn't even started yet, fair enough preseason is debatable but it's design to sort out differences and get match fit, tm hasn't finished in the market, just hold on tight it is gonna be a bumpy ride I hav faith in our manager, its not gonna happen straight away but wiv abit of a chill pill it will work given time. Just giv the team the backin and support it needs and tomorrow will be sky blue. Looking forward to next Saturday to see us bang in a 2-1 win. PUSB.

Swanson played for p'boro but what did he actually do? If he was that good p'boro would have kept hold of him. Orient were bottom 4 all season not just march onwards. O'brien works hard but isn't really a player who we could rely on to get us out of trouble. Why can't you see this team of ours is not good enough at the minute

Well pre season not gone as hoped or expected. Thought ricketts and vincelot added to the team and with Armstrong certainly felt today would see a good result. No disrespect to the teams we have sued but we should have won or drawn these games not drawn and lost. TM still has work to do to get a striker, winger and goalkeeper in (I know burge did ok today). And TM needs to work on the pitch....sharper passing and some end product required. I believe we will still get to about halfway in the table...was hoping for a bit more. Now I'm thinking halfway with possibility of looking over our shoulders.
Still pre season is rarely a good guide to what happens so blindly I remain optimistic. After 50yrs of following ccfc I should know better.
Already tingling with excitement for next week. Come on city pusb

All the posters that said give TM time ,he will have signed the players by end of July. or they will be worried. bet you cant sleep at night. You know who you are. We don't need kids on loans we need experienced forward players now. Hope he can get one or two in the next week or so.

I admire your sensible post. I just get so downbeat and what I witnessed today was awful and I mean Garbage. It reminded just of last season and reminds me why we lost so many games. I still don't know how we stayed up.

Sorry Samo if someone offered me staying up now I would rip their hand off. We are crap. New signings coming in yes I agree but by the time they get going we might of missed 8 games.

Even with these new signings who are we kidding? They will just be loans and whilst that's not a problem 6 month loans are just like Armstrong. If he is great for us then he will fuck off in January. Even then these new signings will be just young kids who can't get into their first time. It's a punt at best anyway.

I want seasoned professionals. Oxford did a job on us today with bog standard league below players and it finished 0-0 against Wigan that's a 4-0 all day long to Wigan.

Pre season is hardly the be all and end all but we haven't won 1 game and scored 2 goals in 5 games against lower league opposition. Hardly screams look at us does it.

(Cue us stuffing Wigan 4-0 now)

But that doesn't mean all our players are shit does it? We have weak areas but we don't need 22 new players.

I'd agree with you on Swanson tbf I don't think he is good enough, Vincelot is a good player though. Orient were in a mess off the field last season and you know it doesn't work like that, that all relegated teams have shit players, teams that get relegated can still have good players.
Its like I said with JOB he's a solid performer, a good league one player but not stand out.

I wish people would actually look what we are up against in this league. Actually take the time to look at the other teams and then make a judgement.

Every team considerably stronger than what we've played pre-season. good job we never had any tough, testing opponents.
Might have the strongest management team; but on the pitch we're way off.

At the end of preseason more than results you look at where you are strong and where you need to strengthen as a squad, TM sounded more than worried after that today.. He needs help and needs backing for him to be able to compete, its to early to say relegation battle, to early to say top 6, but its fair to say we are not where TM wanted to be at this point.. Lets see what next week brings and what TM is saying after regarding is power to bring players in...

Open your eyes and try and see things rationally. What have you seen so far? Are you happy with the results in pre season? (If you've seen any). Do you think that we're in a good position to challenge for a top 6 place? Do you believe that our few signings are going to make a big difference to what we had last season? Do you believe that the squad is big enough to cope with the straines of a season ie suspensions and injuries? Are you of the opinion that our goalkeepers are adequate to perform good enough to keep out the threats from opposition attackers? Will our strikers be able to score enough goals to give us 3 points?
Be honest and rational with your response or just don't bother.

With our lack of attacking options, would anyone have had Proswchitz back? I know he signed for a German team but with our fans were so against it when he was suggested to come back, but now I reckon the majority would want to have him back.

I would have him back in a heartbeat. The man had some presence and was at least a man. Today we had 2 teenagers up front. Both under 6 ft and didn't create a thing all afternoon even with their talent. Says it all. We badly need some muscle AND height. Bullied by a league 2 lower side.

Would you have him back STP?

That fact he can't trap a ball or run shouldn't be a worry in reality...

Obviously he was shit, very very shit but it's hardly as if he wasn't getting into good positions just his confidence and natural instinct was terrible. Maybe he just couldn't adjust enough to the English game...

Right now if you're offering me him? Yeah probably. That probably reflects more on our attacking attacking options than his ability though.

To achieve promotion you need to be scoring 65 goals minimum. With the best will in the world, where and from whom are these goals coming?

No I am not happy with pre-season results... but they are only that. Signings so far are ok; reasonable. Top 6 place: Not yet but recruitment is not yet over. Yes I would like an experienced keeper but we don't always get what we want. We don't yet know who are strikers will be so let's just reserve judgement. Or do you prefer a drama?

Just have to say this, but Mowbray echoes everything I have posted but I'm called a c**t on here for suggesting the same flaws in the squad earlier ?? It's what it has all come to I know at CCFC recently but some common sense and constraints should apply to a contrasting opinion ? I know I'm not the most positive but really what is to rave about....................?
PUSB !

Explain your question of drama. I'm not advocating drama at all I'm just asking you to substantiate your blind faith. It's not a bad thing to always feel optimistic and I've felt that way too many times to remember, but blind faith and rationality are miles apart. Fair play to you for the optimism but this is my 53rd season and I'm looking at this season from a realistic point of view and it's not looking good. PUSB.

What have you seen so far?

The Nuneaton 0-0 game. Seemed like the classic dull, low tempo pre-season game that I've come to expect.

Are you happy with the results in pre season?

No. I don't like it when we lose or draw. However, I don't particularly care because these results mean bugger all.

Do you think that we're in a good position to challenge for a top 6 place?

I think we will be with a few more additions. Very happy with the Armstrong signing and a few more signings (loan or permanent) will make us contenders as it will provide us with some strength in depth.

Do you believe that our few signings are going to make a big difference to what we had last season?

Yes. Vincelot, Ricketts and Armstrong are huge upgrades on Thomas, Webster and Miller, Proschwitz, Nouble etc.

Do you believe that the squad is big enough to cope with the strains of a season ie suspensions and injuries?

It will be come the end of August.

Are you of the opinion that our goalkeepers are adequate to perform good enough to keep out the threats from opposition attackers?

RCC should be our number one in my opinion but I'd prefer it if we signed a better keeper all together. Prepared to give Burge/RCC a chance though.

Will our strikers be able to score enough goals to give us 3 points?

Yes. Add another one/two and a winger.

I get the feeling Mowbray is starting to realise how hard it is it to work to a League One budget. Our squad is pretty poor, and lacks depth, not sure we pin all our hopes on players we might sign in the future.

I'm not panicking yet, but I am concerned. And to add that We're playing a formation we don't have the right combination of players for. Playing 4231 without proper wingers is like SP playing 352 with no proper wing backs on the books.
