Sounds like he might be a similar type of player as Ward, Describes himself as a 'box to box' midfielder and if he can play centre back you would presume he can put in a tackle. Imagine if he was to get a game it would be along side Vincelot and then the more advanced role would be between JOB/Fleck/Maddison/Ruben

Well... in terms of building a squad and having them bond, the close season has already been an either/or. We've decided, for better or worse, to go with Ricketts and Vincelot as the 'marquee' signings, so decided defence and midfield have needed the time to bond more than the forwards.

Time will tell if that's right or not, but currently I'm reminded of the times keeping Morrison / McKenzie / King etc hanging around until the last minute for decisions, and those seasons tended not to pan out beautifully as the hanging around was symptomatic of an unwillingness/inability to build the foundations from the start, so the club was always playing catch-up.

Maybe this season will be he exception to prove the rule.

Good signing, don't know what all the moaning is about. TM has acknowledged we need options up front so this is not an either or situation. But you sign players as and when the deal becomes available. TM knows what qualities and characteristics he wants and is prepared to wait for the right players rather than sign a clutch of players thrown at us from say Bournemouth.

leon Clarke has hardly played for 18 months let alone scored?
Williams probably out of our wage range?
Plus it's about getting the right characters as well as talented players. No point in signing players who are gonna jump ship for more money eg. Clarke.

Tony Mowbray told us loud and clear what he was doing and how it would pan out, loans would not be coming in until close to the season start as the parent clubs sort their squads out and that's exactly whats happened, don't know how many loans we are allowed but i think there will be more, still think one will be Dominic Samuel as for another striker i suggest we watch this space.

Although a loan will jump ship after a season regardless, as their parent club decides to either recall them or sell them if they do well... and not even with the compensation of a transfer fee.

I agree... but for whatever reason TM didn't fancy them or they didn't want to come. Let's see who comes in... maybe they will compare favorably to a journeyman with an attitude problem.

Let's not pretend it's a black & white, wait for later and you get better. Waiting last season, after all, got us an unfit Jackson, and Nouble...

In a general sense, it's symptomatic of a poorly run club to depend on loans as the problem is, come six months or a year's time you have to replace them, and not even with the compensation of a transfer fee. One could see it as evidence of the desperation for instant success that the players haven't been scouted and signed beforehand, and instead we scrabble around and hope to get lucky.

We might, we might get the blip, but we're playing the law of averages poorly.

I can understand your concerns about not having strikers in place yet. But I'm sure that's not from the want of trying to get them in earlier. Just because Vincelot signed earlier, surely it doesn't follow that he's the marquee signing? If anything, the delay tells us that we are hanging on for the better attack-minded players.

Look, I know it's not ideal but it's a non sequitur to assume because we signed a midfielder we ain't signing any strikers.

Based on what? Fair enough we've all seen Maddison, Swanson, JOB and Tudgay last season but for all we know Armstrong and Lamieras could score over 20 just between the two of them. Its a weak area we all acknowledge but it will only be for 3 or 4 games and there is still enough there to score a few goals and sneak a couple of wins in that time.
