Kevin Kilbane was signed by Andy Thorn

Think he meant for West Brom... Which I don't think is actually true either. I refer to my earlier comment!

I would bank on the fact that my intellect is far superior to both of yours but this is a football forum not a platform for measuring intelligence.

No no, far more confidence thanks

My response was somewhat in jest - in view of the recent performance of the banks I am not sure I would use the term

lol really? I thought he meant Pressley signed Kilbane at first. Only about 7 years out if he was talking about West Brom.

You said it yourself success at both WBA and Celtic (not success but 50% win ratio is good) and you can't use he had a big budget argument, because you still have to make the most of it and get the best out of your players. He lay down the foundations for Middlesbrough, with a lot of this current players ones he brought in.

he rebuilt the WBA squad that got promoted while still cutting the wage bill.
He also has a win percentage of 43% which includes a relegation season, so how you can call that unproven I don't know.
I work with an avid West Brom fan who is a big Mowbray fan said he played a great brand of football and made players better, just felt he ran out of time at Albion and as we know time is something you haven't got especialy in the Prem. He added in his opinion his weak point was defence, seems to have tried to sort that one out first here.

I don't know normally post on forums I just like to have a read and see what people are having to say but oh my god all we ever do is seem to moan that we haven't signed enough or we haven't got a striker.

Let's be serious I think mogga is going down the right approach by bringing in the players he wants not just any player to make up the number's like other managers have done before the windows is not closed he wants to bring 3-4 players in let's just wait and see and stop panicking over nothing I'm sure he know we need a striker he is waiting for the right one that is available to snap up.

Yep, talked to a WBA fan and he said the same and that the title winning season was the best he has seen them play.
also talked to Middlesbrough fan, who said although not spectacular they wouldn't be where they are without him.

The response of a four year old girl, sound familiar??!!

What was the response you were hoping for from your opening statement? Honest question.

Possibly a crotchety wasp who lost his way - the heat gets to them!
The local council said the extreme heat had made the wasps irritable and that people should leave the removal of wasp nests to the professionals.

I'm 'on about' the fact that the players we have signed have no proven record (bar Vincelot) we are crying out for a striker yet sign ANOTHER CM who apparently doubles up as a CB (Just rings class doesn't it) and that we are going into the first game of the season with a strikeforce who have managed 1 goal all pre season?

Would love to be proven wrong, but i feel that your blind faith in this guy who let's be honest has had a very very average managerial career, is completely irrational

One word - Dickhead.

We have to give Tm time But to be honest got to say him signing up tudgay again pissed me off a touch and had hoped we would do a lot better, but let's be fair we have no money so are never going to sign QUALITY as such but might get lucky

Tudgay is a decent squad player IMO, and has a good attitude I believe.

Humble pie served up and consumed, did not expect a result, fair play to the lads, only 45 of them left!

Just read this whol thread and I am amazed by your comments. Easy for me to say this now I know we have convincingly beat Wigan and all of your comments were before I think. For a start, Mowbray might not have too many trophies in his cabinet but is that the only measurement for success in football? Most fans at clubs he has been to loved him for his influences, his team building, his understanding of the game. Take Wigan game for example, he realised that Wigan would have plenty of possession so he stifled it. He let Wigan have the ball in non dangerous area, reserve energy and counter attack and it worked. All the players he has managed work for him and generally he has left clubs better off that when he joined.

He has always said he needs 2 years to build this team. He is building it up nicely, it takes time to get players in and he said he is waiting on prem teams submitting their squads (in September) before he can really choose who he wants. Quality not quantity. Pressley got desperate and was bringing anyone in and that doesnt always work. Your doom and gloom, although understandable to a point is annoying. Just back the team.

in general terms, some people just like being miserable for the sake of being miserable. We have a manager now that understands the game, tactics, what role each player serves, organisation, 3 game plans per match, instills confidence and motivation. That for us at this club is success for now. Enjoy it.

Yes we do have a decent manager and Saturday was excellent and unexpected for many. All that said it is only 1 match. By the same token it would have been wrong to shoot everything down if we had lost. The old benchmark used to be, 'Lets see how things have started and how the land lies after 10 competitive matches', I think that will be more of a judge as to how our season may progress. Right now I'd be delighted if we can nick a win at Rochdale, draw at Millwall and beat Crewe.

We all have reasons for negativity. But now we have reasons to be positive for once. What I would like to see is an average of 1.5 points or more. I would be happy to settle for a point at Millwall next game. That would be an average of 2 points a game after playing 2 of the favorites. Even if we lose we will be averaging 1.5 points. Then we start to play the clubs expecting to be near the bottom. My confidence is high and climbing.

Spot on. Easy to panic when you dont have all the positions filled before the start of the season. You want them in and time to gel etc but we have 'enough' to keep us going while deals drag out. Season isnt won in August. We need a squad that takes us to May.
