Is Burge Good Enough ? (14 Viewers)

I always get nervous and start to twitch when people use the word fine.

When my wife asks me does how she looks in the dress she has paid £200 for and a new haircut and I say "Fine" this never seems to go down too well.
Yeah, tell me about it! I parked on double yellow lines last week and the traffic warden said I had to pay £60.

'£60? What's that for?' I asked.

'Fine!' He said.

Yep. 'Fine' is never ever good.

I think he is a decent keeper with huge potential, but if we do make the step up next season then we depending on his form we will have to look for a new number one keeper

Didn't many on here say the Ryan Haynes had huge potential?

That's an exaggeration isn't it? Armstrong has potential but even he may not make the premier league game.

RH may well still have huge potential. There's no doubting he come of the rails last season after a promising start. Could be many reasons for that and he's still young enough to recover. Not saying it will happen but to write him off already could prove to be premature.

I am merely saying the hype was absurd. Even the second half against Gillingham he looked poor.

I think he's one of the worse defenders I've seen. No better than Jack Finch is in midfield - I see no
Potential at all.

What about going forward? Attacking play?

If your saying he can make it as a wide midfielder forget it. He lacks pace from a standing start and positional play.

As for attacking play as a defender - I think you will find most managers want them to have some ability to defend first.

Haynes has loads of potential and he has the right manager to help him fulfill it. I expect him to become a fixture on our left side soon.

Really? U like Haynes snd potentials there but I think stokes is really turning out to be a good signing. Expect him to be a mainstay in first team this season.

Lee is ok but he is error prone, which is understandable given his age and experiance. I don't know how big our pot to piss in is this season but a experienced GK would be one of 3 positions we need to look at if top 2 is the clubs aim.

Spilling that softish shot that lead to the penalty is worrying. That's just basics.

Where have I said he will replace Stokes ? Who by the way is another criticised regularly by the "experts" on here in the recent past.

Well if not it's going to be JOB or Lameries who would make way for him.

Can't see that

Quite a few were slagging JOB last season funny but I always liked him, at the end of the day it is all about opinion like everything on this site.

And Petr Cech last week and Alan McGregor against Wolves. Burge is doing ok just wish those on here doubting him would give it a rest and support him. Mowbray says he is playing so he is good enough. But he will make mistakes and so will other players that's life. Win 4 - 0 and people want worry about one mistake and not all the good stuff he did on Saturday.

Totally agree.

Hands up everybody who did some stupid unexplained things before they were 21?? If a defender makes a mistake, is that it for him too? drop him his not good enough?

His learning his trade, he will make mistakes, but will also make saves that win/keeps us in the games. Look at Murphy the first season or so, how many would have dropped him??

Support him as with all other players, encourage don't moan, he will gain confidence and get even better.

I was not happy with JOB last season, IMO spent a lot of time out of position, cost us goals BUT have to say he has played very well this season and long may it continue

Great news, people are struggling to work out who to drop, last season it would have been who we would play, what a difference a good start has made.

That's what I'm saying it is a game of opinions I thought he was one of our better players.

Listened to radio 5 live yesterday in the car and a Chelsea supporter phoned up to say they would win the league by 10 points no problem.
Wright questioned him on why?
his reply "we have by far the best players in this league" that was his opinion.
Wright didn't agree but hey that is football...........

Given last seasons car crash of a season I think JOB got a raw deal off a lot of fans.

He'd never hide, always tried to galvanise the team and always showed total commitment. Fair degree of skill and some important goals as well.

One thing about job is he will give you 100% same as vincelot and ricketts and that goes along way compared to the likes of Barton etc not willing to break a sweat for the club now we have players who get stuck in and opposition will know they will get a game now instead of us rolling over and accepting defeat
