5 months ago Pressley was manager

Attacks were rare
Shots rarer
goals even rarer

Fleck wouldnt venture into the opposition half
O brien running around getting angry
Reda sitting in the stands

Fans suggesting season ticket sales would be nearer 2000 with gates struggling to get past 5000

Roll that forward to now - such a feel good factor around now. So much credit to Mowbray .And for once, well done Waggott - the best signing you have made

ITs early days, and we shouldnt get carried away - but with our front 5 Fleck/o brien/lameiras/maddison/armstrong - 3rd division defences are frightened to death

Really hope we can keep going. We wont win every week, and there will be difficult spells, injuries etc - but the feeling at the minute is amazing - long may it continue

Well done Tony!!! He;s not the messiah, just a very naughty boy

I also think some credit to the club in regards to the stand closures, chucking us all in together has made such a difference, we actually get behind our team and I am certain it helps, Mowbray seems to thin so

Which was always going to be the case and why it was so frustrating that the club backed down on the idea last season because about 12 ST holders started to cry about it.

Difference for me is in 3 players. They have made all the difference.

Ricketts bringing order, collectiveness and calmness and great experience to the back four.

Vincelot breaking up play, keeping it simple, holding the midfield together and giving us a bit of steel.

Armstrong being a true 20 goal a season goal getter.

Those 3 players have given all the players around them time to play and do what they do best (Maddison, Fleck, JOB).

lets hope at the end of August that Newcastle don't recall him.

doubt thats gonna happen unless newcastle inr elegation zone. they dont wanna upset all their seniror strikers some of who are new signings.

hell i wasnt armstrong next season too if we are in championship! another step up for him

For once in our lives we need to hope the Geordies have a fantastic season and keep winning so they don't need him. The worst they do and the fewer goals their score, the more likely they would be to recall him.

Still don't think he's ready for the Premier, but you know what clubs are like when they go into panic mode when things aren't going well.

Agree Otis it is a concern, however, in my opinion AA is a special player and whilst it is a big step up from League 1 to Premier League, I think he would already make an impact in the Premier. As you say, let's hope Newcastle are successful.

McClaren will be under pressure in one months time if they are not winning. AA is highly regarded by the fans ( he is a local lad and Newcastle fan) and they will be calling for his return. AA will also want to play for Newcastle

All we can do is appreciate him whilst he is here.

Whilst last sat night was excellent it is clear we need a big lump up front. No outlet for Lamieras and JOB on crosses into the box. I think TM will switch to Madders, Lameiras and big guy soon.

agree with your point OTIS. I hope they dont do that it will destroy the lad, I looked at him last night and saw Crewe doing a job on him, 3 marking him, hustling him, tugging at his shirt, generally trying to feck him off. However he and Maddison stood the test and it bodes well for their futures, but back to my point Armstrong needs to sharpen his craft up in the first division and learning the team game before being hammered to pieces by premiership defenders

Question, would you guys be happy if Armstrong left in January, but we got Samuel in on loan as his replacement?

no but it wouldnt be a bad plan b!

but armstrong is becoming a talisman for us now, hes our number 9 and losing him could hurt the team badly as the rest of the player shave confidence from him.

adding samuels in new year plus armstrong would be nice!

would'nt have thought so! they are paying £13 million for a new striker.

Lets hope the wally with the brolly knows what he is doing this time!

I think Armstrong is far superior to Samuel, much better technically and worried quite how well Samuel would fit into our new front line.

What we need is to be seriously competing at Christmas, and all the new players going out on loan are going to want to go to the top of the table sides... which is something that seems to hurt us for the previous years due to the points deductions etc.

yup

also if we are in title mix we gotta hope its a job that armstrong will want to finish off and one that newcastle will be happy for him to do so.

then he can move on to next target...winning the championship!
