How much does it cost to rent a train or two? (9 Viewers)

@ Torchy....... I don't give a s**t what Wasps's owners do, but I DO care what OUR Football Club owners do. JH had backing from Robbins with the "Sky Blue Express" A bit of backing and Tactical Nouse would bring SISU "Onside" with a lot of fans. Rent the train and carriages and on selling the tickets to cover the cost, make a profit in the process. This goes for "Home" games as well as "Away" What's so hard about that? It would show they want the best for CCFC and their fans. I won't hold my breath tho' ;)

So all those blaming CCC for it being a couple more years before we can use trains to the Ricoh.....would you have congratulated CCC if they would have stopped the building of the station because it couldn't be used for a couple of years after completion?

I think its pretty simple. London Midland say that CCC were aware 5 years ago, CCC have been very quiet and haven't denied that.

To me all CCC needed to do was say something like "The station will only be able to cope with low volume of traffic until the line is electrified which is not due to happen before 2017. For that reason the station will not be of use for travel on matchday and other event days. The station is being built now, ahead of the upgrade to the line, due to the conditions of the funding. If the station was not built now the funding would no longer be available."

What's actually happened is CCC and ACL, including Wasps, have been banging on about a Ricoh Station. If this was always going to be the case why allow everyone to think otherwise?

I'd have congratulated them for being honest about it!

But they're not train operators. It's nothing to do with the football club.

Getting train from Portsmouth to Ricoh would have been ideal for me so on that note slightly gutted.

If this was so key to wasps wouldn't they have dug deeper before buying? They seem to be (disappointingly) getting enough support from Cov and surrounding area anyhow.

So you are saying that they knew there wouldn't be enough diesel trains to use and that they shouldn't have got the station built for a matter of two years?

Oh come on, Astute. Don't start getting uppity because people are "blaming CCC". It's a total fuck-up. Look at all the nationals who have picked it up. It's a laughing stock and the buck must stop with CCC. It's not an issue for CCFC or even Wasps who were happily telling everyone that once the station is there then people will be able to conveniently just jump on a train. Even London Midland said they stated five years ago that the capacity wouldn't there.

Why not? They were told five years ago that the station would be useless for anyone wanting to go to the Ricoh. So why not wait two more years until it could be?

Yep - appropriate and timely comms such as this would have been the thiing to do. I was pretty suprised by LM's reply when I asked about the station (which was fairly prompt). LM obviously knew the issues from the outset

Maton's got this list ready for when someone solves the mystery of the missing trains.

1. Platforms not long enough to cope with numbers
2. Platforms not wide enough.
3. Too near the stadium
4. No staff
5. Leaves on the line
6. Theives on the line
7. It wasn't built for the stadium punters, it's for the shoppers
8. something to do with the environment
9. Something to do with elf n safety
10. Anything else he can think of

Well they did know. Also even that is not certain and there is no confirmation it will be used then. Why didn't ccc say this 5 years ago?

Coun McNicholas, deputy cabinet member (transport) said: “When the new station opens we will have one train an hour connecting Coventry City Centre to the Ricoh and on to Bedworth.
“I am sure it will be well used by local people and on match days – rugby and football – it will provide an additional way for fans to get to games.”

And it will be as soon as the rail companies get their act together.

All I have said is would it have been better for it not to have been built for the reason of the two years?

You still will be able to if you like arriving early. Many like to go to the casino.

Yes, it would. However, the quote above from one of the Councillors strangely omitted the fact that match-day fans would not be able to use the facility despite LM telling CCC five years ago. Look at the many articles on the CT site and glance at the smug Councillors telling us how brilliant it will be for everyone once the station opens. Not after the station has been open for two years.

Christ I thought schmeee and Tony were bad but you are the biggest council cock sucker on this forum,

The council were told 5 years ago it this service was not happening in 2015. Nothing to do with train services to blame them is embarrassing.

Council cock sucker? Oh, you mean everyone who isn't a SISU cock sucker.

I'd have much more respect if a politician came out and said "Yes, between us and so and so this has been a huge mess. We apologise and will do our very best to resolve this" rather than Maton just coming out and trying his best to patronise everybody for a chance.

Me too. But then the paper would be full of "flip flopping politician" and "council males u-turn" "council admits mistake". I agree it's gone too far and that's why I think you see more extreme politicians breaking through. Just saying I can see the flip side as well. I've been on the receiving end of a reporters embellishment of a quote before, it sticks with you.

To be honest I've not been following this bruhaha too much. Trying to focus on the footy. So not sure I can comment on specific quotes or reactions.

I see your little man syndrome has come to the surface again.

I have not defended CCC here. But your one (little) man band of blaming CCC for everything wrong with our club is so obvious. So you are now saying that a lack of usable trains is the fault of CCC :D

Isn't it strange that you love to insult people on here but do not reveal who you are in the slightest. I bet you are a proud keyboard warrior.

Yes, you are defending CCC, Astute by trying to blame lack of rolling stock. LM stated that five years ago. Yet, in my quote above councillors were still trumpeting the fact that "once the station has opened" then fans will be able to use it to attend matches at the Ricoh. Blatantly not true.

Another thread bites the dust. Shame really. Any way to rid this forum of some of the more obvious trolls?

So I am not easily identified at some games? I suppose me being compared to Ant or Dec (don't know which is which ) was a wild guess by some on here. And If I called someone a cock sucker I would be happy to say it to their face. Whereas with yourself?

Such a brave keyboard warrior aren't you.

What! Is this true? London Midland have had 5 years to find a solution and haven't! ;)
