Half time 1-2 Southend.

Poor defending for their first, even the penalty we brought on ourselves with the move that led up to the foul being conceded.

Armstrong is isolated up top on his own. Whilst he has the men behind him, we seem to be wanting to pass it into the net. Even when our midfielders have the ball on the edge of the area they don't seem to want to shoot.

Only one or two where players have looked at having a crack, Armstrong considered another lob attempt from distance but think the weather stopped him giving it another go, and then the Obrien one that was cleared off then line.

Improvement needed and I'd be tempted to being Tudgay on for Murphy, who whilst he is staying in the line, hasn't really had the effect we needed. Could potentially being Morris on instead, but think Tudgay will allow us to change our shape
Totally agree. My exact thought too. Tudgay for Murphy, who isn't offering enough. Armstrong needs the support too.

Murphy is crap. Not convinced at all. He just losses the ball.

Reds looks ok tbf only one wanting to win the ball. Ricketts looks poor tonight. And burge should of claimed the ball first goal? He scored from 3 years out ffs. Claim the ball ffs.

Doesn't help but Phil brown is the biggest twat on this planet and appeals for everything and behaves like a school kid. The fact his team is winning is really pissing me off.

He cheered the goals like he won the fa cup. Prick. I wouldn't mind but they score and it's like the World Cup has been won. I know they don't score many but this is awful.

Phil brown just watch him second half for any one who is there.

He is a prick. Was quick enough to appeal for Reda to be booked for identification challenges that his players made early on and escaped a card. Glad to see the ref didn't bow to his pressure.

As for him telling his player to roll back on when going down injured, ref should have been quicker to react to that, with both the player and manager being warned

I'm sorry but Johnson is woeful. Directly responsible for both goals and an accident waiting to happen every time.

Yeah I agree. Bit of a one trick pony, head down looks to get to the bye line with no end product. Opposition are now doing their homework on Armstrong

If a keeper isn't prepared to take the man and the ball, it's a concern. Even if it meant taking our Reda as well as their man, he should have done better

Bubble seems to have well and truly burst. Lack of cover for injuries?

No just crap defending and a goalkeeper who is never good enough at this level.

Attacking wise and creatively we've been ok

Only one half, but if this is a sign of things to come it's going to be a long hard season.

As many of us keep saying, this squad is far too thin.

Had a bad feeling about this game prior to kick off and unfortunately those fears have been realised so far.

Hope I'm wrong, but I can't see us turning this one round. Outmuscled, outfought and too many mistakes yet again. Such an echo of last season tonight.

Lose tonight and I don't think we can talk in terms of a blip.

Johnson is being made to look an absolute fool by their strikers. I don't think him and Ricketts have won a header all game - it's no surprise they scored from a cross.

Not enough movement in the attacking third and we are reverting to route one, which won't work with our strikers.

Close them down and they panic, keep doing that and hope our stamina pulls through. Their whole team looks oversight.

Wouldn't say it's burst, but it's on it's way to popping :D

Injuries definitely playing a part and shows that whist we may have started the season with a decent 11, there isn't much 'decent' in the back up area. More make shift or 'hope for the best' type of players. Some can come on to change a game, but can't manage to start one!

Defence looks dodgy.. murphy has lost the ball on just about every occasion. . Defo bring him off and get tudgay or someone on to replace him

But it's Reda. You can't be negative about Reda. He's a hero :D

He could be a decent defender, but is too clumsy, and his passing at times is woeful if it has to go more than a few feet

It's more this nonsense of always trying to get in front of the guy he's marking. Pathetically exposed in the build up for the second goal.

really ?

"If" we lose this and we have played 6 games this season, walked off winning 3 and losing 3. What "bubble" ?.

TM said we haven't got the squad he wants yet. We have to have faith in him.

Sloppy defending throughout. Not enough creativity. Murphy goes past a player but then can't deliver. Come on city

Agree about Burge. Would like to see a bit more experience back there. He's just not ready.

Think Maddison is going to be missed too. Has a bit of x factor about him.

I meant more around the positivity. We won our first 3 games. Drew away in the cup (although went out on penalties). Lost 1 so far.
