How are we feeling so far ? personally , I'm happy with the style of play , slight progress being made , 10 points from 5 games is a good return isn't it ? compared to recent seasons . frustrated to only get a point last night . mind , could've been a loss . IF we beat Burton , that point won't feel so bad . #TMSBA :claping hands:

Yep-think most would have snapped your hand off if after 5 games it was an average of 2 points per game and 5th place. Still early doors but some of the football this season has been the best I have seen for years!

Just okay.

It's all well and good talking about 10 points, which are indeed fab to have on the board, but the trend over the last 2 games isn't so promising. Back to a few of our bad ways from last year. 6 goals now conceded in the last 3 games.

I predicted we would finish outside of the top 6 before the season started, but after those first 3 wins I was beginning to believe we could really make a good fist of it and finish top 6 and maybe even be challenging for the top 2 players (luck with injuries willing).

After losing to Walsall and watching us last night I think we have too many problems that need addressing.

1. Shipping goals and defensive errors rearing their ugly head again.

2. Lack of a plan b.

3. Ultra thin squad.

4. Still being outmuscled

5. Goalkeeping situation still a worry.

Think it may well be entertaining, but that we just aren't good enough for a really good campaign and high position in the league table.

Need TM to do some really good wheeling and dealing and have our squad strengthened sharpish.

The games are entertaining, but have to say I di find last night incredibly frustrating.

Thoroughly enjoying it so far Bob. The club appears to be now run in a far more professional manner than we have grown accustomed to, due in part to TM and his backroom staff.

The transfers have been pleasing and although it has been frustrating at times wondering if and when people were/are going to arrive, it has always been worth the wait.

The calm and collective approach in everything Mowbray says and does, rubs off on us all whether we win, lose or draw. Our playing style is also ensuring we are kept on the edge of our seats week in week out.

It's still early days but the togetherness of the fans aided by the above and improved atmosphere at the Ricoh are pointing towards us having a decent season (which by our standards would mean top half!).

The lingering concerns I have in the back of my mind are defensive frailties, loan players being recalled, Mowbray being pinched by a club of higher stature or further injuries decimating our already tiny squad, but that is just second nature to us with the constant turmoil sent our way season after season! Here's hoping this one is different!

1 defeat in 6 games. Last night would have been a win if not for a penalty miss. We conceded one sloppy goal and a needless penalty. It wasn't that bad defensively and were comfortable in the second half.

People like you just love moaning.

Nope, not at all. I am very much a glass half full person and am known for my optimism, so way off the mark there, Fernando.

My stance of okay is simply based on the fact that I was absolutely ecstatic after those first 3 games.

Just saw worrying factors last night that harked back to last season. That's realism not negative thoughts. Really happy with 10 points and would have gladly taken that before the season after 5 games, but the trend from the last 2 matches has been one of concern.

There lies the problem. Winning the first 3 games boosted everyones belief including my own but we have shown no consistency for as long as I can remember. Its a good start nothing more. Believing after the first 3 we would or could get top 2 is dreaming Otis. We all needed a reality check and we are kind of getting that now. But we are making progress slowly.

Yes, totally agree. We were all just dreaming and it was just 3 games. I was happy to get carried away by it all though and at the times I thought Armstrong was going have about 15-20 goals by Christmas.

It's a great start by our standards , it's a long season and to be in the top 6 , a win away from top 2 is fantastic. Take nothing away from the lads. We remain in the hunt !

If you get 10 points per calendar month you'll be promoted, probably as champions. After the first month of a long season we've got that base to build on.
However, Otis makes some valid points, the squad is paper thin and we desperately need some muscle.
Septembers games are your typical league one bread and butter, Burton, Scunny, Chesterfield and Bury. There's points there for the taking. Crowds at home have been encouraging and away support quality, but we have to keep in the mix as we move into the autumn, entertaining 2-2 draws with Southend ain't gonna get the punters back.
Who knows what our crowds would be like around Xmas if we were fighting it out at the top, a promotion or league challenge hasn't happened to this club for 2 generations.
If the budget rely's on numbers through the turnstiles, then we have to build on a decent start.

Before the Walsall game, a Birmingham radio station was introducing the days football. It went something like this, "A huge test for the Saddlers today as they face a sky blue juggernaut steaming thru league one"
Let's hope the last 2 games are just and puncture, and the engine's not fucked.

So far it's good.

The main thing for me is positive intent, and having the occasional goal to celebrate.

We're CCFC, it'd be boring if we won every game... but if they're fun more often than not, then that's a half-decent platform to build on.

A good start but a long way to go. Yes there is room for improvement, but I do feel we have players in the squad who are capable of improving. I am not saying we will make the top six, but we look a more capable side than the one at the end of last season.

You're a victim of your own over-optimism Otis and I don't think that makes the start 'Just Okay'. Mowbray said this was a 2 year project and we knew points 2 to 5 before we'd even kicked a ball in the league. For me, I'd say the trend for the last 2 games IS promising - We took a massive suckerpunch losing our key midfielder early against what transpires to be the form team in this league and have been forced to change things around, adapt a little bit and were unlucky not win our next match but demonstrated we have goals across our whole team.

Don't mean the start, just how I am feeling right now. Found last night's performance very frustrating, so based on the last 2 games I just feel okay. Being top 6 after 5 games I am very happy about.

After being starved of any kind of success for so long when we won the 1st 3 games it was really nice to get carried away, yes we have got 10 points from 5 games BUT it is the next 5 games initially that is most important now. We have shipped 5 goals and a penalty. I still think we are underpowered in midfield to offer some sort of protection to the defence and as we all know a class keeper is worth a few points every season almost as important as a good striker

7 points clear of the drop isn't it? I'm delighted. 3 away games in next 4 should test our metal

If a neutral was told one team was a 3rd and the other near the bottom they'd have worked out who was who.

We were superior. We defended poorly for the first half. They weren't a threat after that.

We've had a great start to the season, the only place where turning every tram over and expecting promotion this season has been on this forum.

I am sure that TM is looking towards next season as the one.

Think my judgement is a bit clouded at the moment, based on last night's match, but for me there were a lot more negatives than positives last night and I could see seeds of the stuff that were going wrong last season.

It was for me a very hit and miss, error-riddled performance last night and that was a concern.
