If he doesn't play in that, I will be disappointed.

I don't want him putting country second, but what's the point in him going to sit on a bench?

if we are going to scout our players at england youth games then we have to accept this is going to happen every international break its not like he only got called up based on his first 5 games for us he has been part of the youth set up for a few years

Interesting Armstrong is only from Newcastle unlike solanke, OJo, Maitland-Niles, Kenny, Woodman, where it says their loan club and main club.

I do appreciate that, and I wouldn't want him to turn down England at any level, for us or another club.

What I do have an issue with, is missing games for us, and not playing for the international team he is away with.

Always a difficult one, I'm just saying if he played in 1 or 2 games fair enough, but if he doesn't come on for them, it just seems a waste of time.

I can only assume he didn't come on as England had a player sent off?

I think the youth loan not counting towards match cancellation rule needs changing. Lower league clubs are ever more reliant on this type of deal with the rich clubs able to snap up all the young talent. England will ultimately benefit from us playing Armstrong, should he make it, so a bit of protection in return would be nice.

Look on the bright side - at least there was no chance of him getting injured!

Isn't the bench part of the team? Haven't our fans been worried about the strength of our bench? So there is a point to sitting on the bench.

Total waste of time him being there as he wont learn much from Bothroyd and will probably just get a stiff neck looking for the ball in the sky.

Why are there so many different age group teams now
should be under 18's and then the full side not a team for every year.

Its jobs for the ex manager boys like Hoofroid , a complete waste of money. There again the Fa is awash with money and the cronies to spend and wine and dine on it, would be good for some of this money passed onto grass roots and not pissed away down a urinal at yet another function.

The fa and FIFA are not a lot different both run for the benefit of the administrators.

Grass roots needs massive investment but they will be more interested in getting the right amount of people in place to spend the money rather than getting on with it.

England has lagged behind the rest of the world for years when it comes to producing technically gifted players. Regarding the teams at each age group, aren't we following the example of the more successful countries. You are actually increasing your pool of international experienced players. This benefits clubs sides as much as it does the National side.

We have Bothroyd in charge I'm not sure that will help anybody. I would have thought that the younger ages are better off playing in a league match against men rather than a friendly (hoping it was a friendly)

What is up with this trend of players with hyphenated name?. Clarke-Salter, Maitland-Niles, Walker-Peters, Ahearne-Grant. Can't see those names fitting on their shirts. I wish people could make up their minds what they want to be called. How long before we start seeing double hyphenated names?

It's hardly a trend, they have double barrel surnames. Once a favourite of the pretensious and now a favourite for those who decide not to marry or for those who aren't fans of the British custom of the wife taking the man's surname.

Armstrong is starting for the U19s against Croatia today. Had a quick look but can't find an official stream. Is it on Sky? If so might turn up on one of the less official streaming sites.

Seems it kicked off at 3pm Chief.

Updates here - https://twitter.com/england

In fact, its just finished 1-1. Appears as though Armstrong became captain during the game.
