A song for the City (1 Viewer)

Some may recall I did this last year I think it was. Very rough demo.
,
With the gloom and doom then surrounding the club I had no desire to finish the project. Anyway, with all the good feeling now around the place and amongst City fans, thought I'd have another play about with it.

Honest opinions appreciated and even if you don't like the tune, at least give the images a whirl.

It did sound fine on my little porta-studio, but on YouTube it seemed to be a bit tinny, so that is something I can rectify if other listeners are getting the same thing.

So here it is;

Time for me to don my tin hat again!

Otis, what equipment do you use? I'm a bedroom musician myself and have been doing stuff since around 1980.

I think it was alright, similar to all those tracks that came out in the 90's. My lad will like it.

This is one of mine from around 2001:

I wonder if Mark Robins will be singing that today what with having sky blue blood and all.

I like the we're sky, we're blue, we're city through and through bit. Catchy and easy to remember and learn

Well that's what I was trying to do Pete, create something that could be easily recreated on the terraces and in the stands. One group of supporters chanting 'We're Sky, we're Blue, we're City through and through' and another group putting in the 'Sky' 'Blue' inbetween. Sort of like the old Rangers/Celtic chant from years ago.

Will watch the vid in a minute, Torch.

I have a Fostex 8 track porta-studio, which basically records to compact flash. All the instruments were created on my keyboard, which is a Yamaha MOF X8, with a built in sequencer.

The keyboard was about £999. The porta studio was dead cheap, probably just under £200.

Yeah, like it. Thanks for that Torch. It's a field I have always wanted to fiddle around with.

Maybe we should start a band. :thinking about::D

Sounds a nice set-up. I got rid of all my stuff over the years. I used to have quite a few analog synths such as the lovely SH101 and a miniKorg which took me years to pay off on HP. I've all software now with a Korg controller as I have less time, less space and less money.

Yeah, that's what my brother does. I always prefer to play the instruments. Guess it all harks back to my days when I was in bands. Can't quite get my head around working with computers to create music. ;) Might be my age!!

Of course, I did use the sequencer for the main background track, so thinking about it, maybe I can work with computers after all. :thinking about:

Well done, Otis. I like it and it is easy to learn and catchy enough to be sung often.

I used to be the same Otis. Didn't like the idea of using computers until I borrowed a friends Apple and got hooked on Logic Pro.
Piece of piss to use and you can still plug your instruments into it if you want. Could even de-ess your vocals. ;)

The stuff from my signature was done on it to give you an idea.

Like the words Otis. Could do with a tune though.

No-one famous, or that you would have heard of, though my drummer joined King and my bass player joined Dexy's.

Am I confusing bassists here Otis, but did that same bass player also do some work with Staus Quo...or am i thinking of someone different?
