So I weren't far off, I'm amazed as my memory is totally horseshit.
i live in a family of Liverpool fans, even my only son is a Reds fan, (I know I should be shot at dawn for allowing that to happen), so I'm going to replay that now and again to rile them a bit. Also not forgetting Ndlovu being the last player to score a hatrick at Anfield, yet again I may be wrong with that but I'm pretty sure he is.

can i mention the one and only Ernie Hunt, who I used to love in the early seventies. A fantastic first touch and great vision, though he was a bit porky but I loved him.

god it shows what great players we've had up front, that one season of Ferguson and Wallace sticks out for me, they were fantastic that season.

I`m of similar vintage to you Cape and saw all of those earlier ones you mention.

Thing is as I`m sure you know, many on your list were not strikers and their worth to the team can`t be measured in goals (Tommy Hutchison and Ronnie Rees for example).

I can`t agree about George Hudson. For one thing all his exploits for us were in the lower divisions, and many seem to forget his lapses in form, the last of which probably led to him being sold.

Trouble is my nomination has to be prior to late 1986 when I migrated, as I only saw players from after then on the odd occasion on visits to Blighty.

The one I would pick as my favourite striker isn`t on your list. That`s Colin Stein. For me he had everything, great feet, good in the air, hard working and unusually for a striker unselfish. He would have been a nightmare for centre halves, pulling them out of position when he went on a run, sometimes even down the wing.

The thought of him and Hutch in the same forward line can still make me drool. Mind I`m getting close to the age where drooling starts to go with the territory :thinking about:

without looking I would have thought a lot of the 41 Aloisi played were from the bench as Strachan never gave him a proper go and the same with Moldovan
